Dell XPS 12 :: Touchpad Scroll Settings Not Accessible
Mar 5, 2013
I installed the touchpad driver. I am not able to access the touchpad settings when I click on the ones with the yellow arrow. Nothing happens. I want to turn off tap to click.
I've just bought a used Dell Latitude D830 (UK, XP SP2) and find the touchpad won't scroll. Otherwise pad, trackpoint and buttons all work ok.
I went into Control Panel assuming that the scroll areas weren't set up. Not so - unlike on my old C640, there are no separate Synaptics set-up tabs. Nothing - and it claims there's a Microsoft mouse plugged into PS2 .
I bought a dell xps 13 a few months ago. I was pretty happy with its performance untill a few days ago, when its touchpad refuses to scroll periodically. While it is refusing to scroll, other multi-finger gestures like zoom, pinch etc work. Also, touchscreen scroll and mouse scroll also work. Problem doesn't go away even if I disable and re enable the driver. It sometimes goes away on its own, or on restarting the computer.
I bought a dell inspiron n5110 laptop just a couple of days back. the problem is I am not able to scroll on the touchpad. it does not even have a mark on it to tell you the area you can use for scrolling. I have tried uninstalling and installing the drivers but its not working.
I own a Dell Vostro 2520, replaced Ubuntu with Windows 7. Ever since the OS was changed, I see no Touchpad option under "Mouse and other devices" in the device manager. Unable to scroll using the touchpad. Unable to install drivers as I always come across the error, "....exe is not a valid Win 32 application.
It appears that the only way to scroll with the current driver is the two finger scroll. I need a driver that will allow me to edge scroll, that is using one finger on the far right of the touchpad for scrolling. Bonus points if the driver allows "momentum" and doesn't mess up other stuff.
My computer is the dell 1747 Studio Laptop running Windows 7 Professional. It has the built-in Synaptics Touch Pad. When you drag your finger on the far right side of the pa, it auto scrolls through the document on the screen.
I use my Laptop almost exclusively with a remote desktop connection. I process large documents (some as many as 200 pages). If I accidentally drag my hand or finger up or down on the left side of the touch pad, it begins to scroll. Since it is a remote desktop connection, it will not stop scrolling until it reaches the end of the document either up or down. I have to sit and wait for it to finish scrolling before I can use the computer again.
I would like to know how to turn OFF auto scrolling on the touch pad. There is a "wheel" setting in the device setup menu but you can only turn it down to "1" not "zero".
I have been looking to make my alps pad better and with some info i found on here i was able to do just that. now i have "back/forward" slide gestures and circle scrolling, in firefox! this will also enables alot more things.
first of all thanks to fonduekid for letting us know of the new drivers. and to SpotMe for the regedit info.
to start off go HERE, and download that driver.
Install, restart.
after windows restarts run regedit look for "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREAlpsAPoint" with in that folder look for "UseCustomGUI" double click and change the value data to "0" close regedit
open mouse properties and you will have all the features unlocked. circle scrolling are within the dell tab and the back/forward is under gestures tab.
Unfortunately Alps still will not recognize Firefox. To be able to use the "back and forward" slide gesture you will have to go here and download a firefox addon called nightly tester tools.
once installed, with in firefox go to tools>addons and click on options for Nightly tester tools.
How to make my touch-pad scroll function work? I drag my fingertip up or down the right side of the pad, on the line, and get nada, zip. If i hold down the left click key i can scroll with the window slide bar but thats it. I have checked all of the settings for mouse that I know about. .
I have the Dell Studio 1537 and I have two issues :
1. Since I bought the laptop, the media (light) buttons aren't functioning properly. The media player-button isn't working at all, and after I upgraded to Windows 8.1 only the Eject-button does work. Earlier I tried some Registry tweaks, but they did not do the job..
2. The scroll line on the touch pad doesn't work, even when the driver for it is installed properly. How I can bring it to usefulness again?
HP Pavilion dv7 laptop which came loaded with Windows 7, I upgraded it to Windows 8 but now the Touch Pad scrolling is not working.
I have tried;
updating the driverreinstalled original drivertroubleshoot compatibility on the originaltried a battery remove / hold power button option These have not fixed my scroll at all. No other gestures are working either... The Synaptics pointing devide driver is installed at this time.
The only thing I CAN DO is point-and-click on by touchpad.
I have a HP G56-130sa, i have a problem with my touchpad, suddenly the hardware lock button on the touchpad has stopped working ! When i double-tap it the light doesn't turn on and lock the touchpad. Also my scroll gesture on the touchpad has stopped working ! What should i do ?
I have followed advice on changing settings on the mousepad in the control panel, in my settings it shows I have enabled (ticked) all of 2 finger scrolling vertical and horizontal and one finger scrolling vertical and horizontal, and have clicked apply, however the touchpad still won't let me scroll on pages. All i can use the touchpad for is to click and moe the pointer around the page. It used to work until recently and I only bought the laptop in January. This is very frustrating as i bought the laptop for study use as an open uni student I have to read a lot of journals so thesudden lack of non scrolling is extremely awkward.
I have tried the changing of settings (once I found the control panel) already so how to get this to work again.
I have an HP Envy 17.3 laptop with a touchpad that doesn't allow me to scroll nor to use with the control key to change the zoon factor inside of windows (such as a browser window).
I've gone to the touchpad settings and there really isn't much there. Surely HP included some of the advanced features like Synaptics does and is used on less expensive laptops???
Am I failing to look in the right place? I went to the touchpad settings. Is thewre another place to make changes to the settings?
i can use the touch pad to move around but edge swipes don't work so i cant change from app to app and i cannot function zooming using the touch pad or scrolling either ?
Need to change the touchpad settings on my Dell XPS 14Z, running Windows Professional XP 64.
Online searches to find the touchpad settings have indicated touchpad settings could be accessed in the Control Panel under Mouse options or via an icon in the taskbar.
Unfortunately, none of these appear true. Control Panel>Mouse does not have any touchpad tabs and there is no touchpad icon in my taskbar.
Attempts to find the user manual for this model have also proved fruitless. The link on the Dell site for the XPS 14z directs me to a user manual for a different model laptop (M1330).
a few weeks ago (I think after the last windows update) all of a sudden my touchpad settings were gone. I've had this computer (Inspiron N5110, Windows 7) for about 9 months and it's been great until now. The touchpad is now super sensitive and the cursor seems to go anywhere it wants, probably because my palms barely brush it when I'm typing but I usually feel like I am not touching it at all. It will open whatever the cursor is hovering over, even when I don't click it. I tried to find the settings for the touchpad under Control Panel>Mouse but there is nothing for the touch pad.Am I just not looking in the right spot for the settings?
I'm currently using a Vostro 5470-20452G with Windows 8. It's about two months old and now the touchpad is not working. I've tried various methods like disabling and enabling the touchpad in settings but it still doesn't work.
I really want a middle click and just more options in general but there seems to be no way. i called up tech support and the guy told me i have a generic mousepad and there was no on other mouse options besides the basic ones in mouse properties.
I am using amazing inspiron 5520 & I am satisfied with it but I just noticed that the touch pad just only used for moving the pointer there are no extra functions such as scrolling ,, zooming ,, etc ... I can't find the touchpad settings in my control panel...
The only thing that's stopping me from buying one is access to the fan. I live in a very dusty place and I clean my Asus fan every 2 or 3 months to keep it clean. So how easy is it to get to the fan of Sony laptops? I realize it won't be as easy as an Asus, I've also tried opening Lenovo laptops where you have to detach the palmrest and the lift the keyboard which is a little annoying but still fine. My worst nightmare is my friends Fujitsu where I can't seem to open at all. I'm looking at the SR or the CS models atm.
After you adjust the touchpad properties like double click speed and cursor speed is there a way to keep these settings? Everytime the computer restarts I have to go back into touchpad mouse properties and readjust everything.
