I really want a middle click and just more options in general but there seems to be no way. i called up tech support and the guy told me i have a generic mousepad and there was no on other mouse options besides the basic ones in mouse properties.
View 7 RepliesI have had my notebook for 10 days. The cursor jumps so badly that the computer is almost unusable for anything but reading email or web browsing. The only way I can prevent the cursor from jumping is to dsiable the touchpad by using Fn+F7. There is no sensitivity setting in the Mouse properties.Â

My only problem is its temperatures from the first day i bought it - especially during summer months.
I found some threads that mention downvoltaging as a possible solution and o downloaded all the appropriate software. The thing is that my CPU temperature remains at 84 - 90 C and as all tutorias agree i need to make experiments to see over which voltage my laptop is not crashing and having blue screens. Has anyone set up a similar laptop (or a laptop with similar configuration) to tell me the voltages used to make it run?

however It have few more problems.
1. it won't save bios settings.
2. it won't always boot sometime it takes 3-4 tries before it will boot.
3. when it finally boot it will randomly freeze after 2-10 minutes.
I try new harddrive, reset the memory, unplug the battery.
memtest shows the memory is fine.
After the upgrade to the current UEFI firmware, when I try to access to settings the BIOS ask me for a password. I'm absolutely sure I have not set any password (I hate BIOS passwords). Now I need to start from a USB pendrive and I can't change the startup sequence.

I've read the post about how Acer can support on lost or forgotten passwords("there are very few if no options available from the end user side"), but in this case I've not created any password, as I said

I have tried running windows 8 in safe mode as well as pressing alt-f10 on start up. Nothing seems to be working. Is there any way I can reset this short of using a pre-made recovery disc?

My netbook was working fine until suddenly I lost connectivity. A popup window over the connection logo in the tray--bars with a red X over them--says network proxy settings can't be detected. When I click on the little wrench icon, it also says detected, but then there's a yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it.
I tried the fixes in the troubleshooting netbooks area of this site, but they didn't work. Clicked on the connection logo, it says Windows couldn't automatically detect this network's proxy settings. Under detection details, it gives the file name 1A40D7A3-7CDE-40F4-195E4ADD6327.Diagnose.Admin.0.etl for network diagnostics log; for other networking configuration and logs, it's NetworkConfiguration.cab .Â

When I logon, the popup says it can't connect to System Event Notification Service; also says review System Event log. I've tried looking for those, but can't find them.

After trying updating that BIOS version to V1.13 successfully, I still don't see the UEFI setting, when I check in a software called HWiNFO64 Program, it says my laptop BIOS is capable of UEFI BIOS. So my main questions are....How can I have UEFI setting in my BIOS? What should I do?Â

I cant figure out why, but im thinking maybe my wireless Logitech mouse/keyboard that I use while docked has something to do with it?
Need to change the touchpad settings on my Dell XPS 14Z, running Windows Professional XP 64.
Online searches to find the touchpad settings have indicated touchpad settings could be accessed in the Control Panel under Mouse options or via an icon in the taskbar.
Unfortunately, none of these appear true. Control Panel>Mouse  does not have any touchpad tabs and there is no touchpad icon in my taskbar.
Attempts to find the user manual for this model have also proved fruitless. The link on the Dell site for the XPS 14z directs me to a user manual for a different model laptop (M1330).

I went into Control Panel assuming that the scroll areas weren't set up. Not so - unlike on my old C640, there are no separate Synaptics set-up tabs. Nothing - and it claims there's a Microsoft mouse plugged into PS2 .
I installed the touchpad driver. I am not able to access the touchpad settings when I click on the ones with the yellow arrow. Nothing happens. I want to turn off tap to click.
View 6 Replies View Relateda few weeks ago (I think after the last windows update) all of a sudden my touchpad settings were gone. I've had this computer (Inspiron N5110, Windows 7) for about 9 months and it's been great until now. The touchpad is now super sensitive and the cursor seems to go anywhere it wants, probably because my palms barely brush it when I'm typing but I usually feel like I am not touching it at all. It will open whatever the cursor is hovering over, even when I don't click it. I tried to find the settings for the touchpad under Control Panel>Mouse but there is nothing for the touch pad.Am I just not looking in the right spot for the settings?Â
