I'm currently using a Vostro 5470-20452G with Windows 8. It's about two months old and now the touchpad is not working. I've tried various methods like disabling and enabling the touchpad in settings but it still doesn't work.

I already installed driver from Dell drivers website.
The problem is all my key fn function work but the enable/disable Touchpad doesn't work.
And I don't see any option to customize my Touchpad.
Only left click, right click, moving pointer are working, but scrolling doesn't work.
I think the driver isn't installed or maybe it isn't compatible with windows 8.1.
i have a Dell Vostro 5470. My touch screen has not been working for more than a month. It suddenly stopped working. I have tried search for fixes, but nothing has showed up. I have the update from 06/2006 for the HID-compliant touch screen and for HID-compliant vendor-defined device.

I tried many versions of driver including those from Geforce official site but none of them worked. When I tried to open the Nvidia control panel, it said something like "You are not currently using a display attached to an Nvidia GPU"
Only Intel HD Graphic is currently working now.

I downloaded all the drivers at Dell Product Support Website. Everything worked OK except that on my Device Manager, I am missing one driver, that is for PCI Simple Communications Controller, any link where I could download the driver?

I hate the auto-adjustment of screen backlight according to the brightness of the background, so I googled and knew that I can disable Dell Intelligent Display to avoid it. The problem is, even I unchecked the Dell Intelligent Display in Dell's battery settings, the auto-adjustment kept going on.
I sought through the battery settings of windows and dell but none of them could kill the auto-adjustment. Is there any other way to kill it? It's really a stupid design that dims backlight when looking at BLACK pages. It's all black....
After I buy new computer Dell Vostro 5470 I found there is no option to set the highest level of battery charging when you are using computer most time with AC. Does Dell have program for managing this? For example I want have battery between 20-70% of capacity. I am inserting JPEG i got installed just this program for really easy settings...
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had a quick look at Disk Management on my new Vostro 5470, and there are not less than 7 partitions displayed over there.
The laptop has a SSD of 128GB installed. I know that GPT hard drives require several partitions (to be specific, I know only about ESP, MSR and data partitions only) - but 7? My data partition has only 99GB available. That surely isn't a lot.
I know that some sort of Intel recovery is installed, and I know that the Dell diagnostics is installed somewhere too.
I got this new computer from company IT w/ Win7 on it. WiFi conection is very weak and the speed is slow while other laptop works fine at the same location. I have updated driver of intel N-7260 but there is no improvement.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have almost applied all methods. I have checked bluetooth is enabled in the bios settings. And also I applied the method of services.msc in command prompt.
I pressed Fn + F2 during installation but bluetooth option is not going to be on. I do not think why it is giving that problem. I have uninstalled the drivers now.
My Vostro is about two weeks old and the touchpad suddenly stopped working. I have tried the function key to make sure it is enabled and did the f12 on boot but not sure I ran the correct test. I have a Dell support depot nearby so I may have to take the laptop to them if this can't be resolved - I have purchased pro support so it's fully covered.

I noticed the battery light blinks one white and 4 red signifying it was not charging. How do I enable battery charging on this model? I checked the documentation and did not see anything there. View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a new Dell XPS 15 four days ago. I've been having a lot of issues with its internal mSSD drive. The model I ordered has a regular 1TB hard disk and a 128 SSD. I was quite surprised to discover that the Intel Rapid Storage Technology (that allow faster data access by using the SSD as cache) is not enabled by default. I tried to enable it but no success. An "unknown error" message box showed up when I attempted to do so. That was really strange, considering that the only thing that I've done so far in my computer was installing MS Office and Google Chrome.I contacted the tech support three days ago and I was told to reset my computer to factory default and try again. After a long wait for system restoration I enabled the acceleration mode in the Intel Rapid Storage software.
Everything proceeded according to expected, but when I rebooted my computer it failed to detect any bootable device. I can't even access the system restoration by pressing F8 during initialization now. especially when we consider that this shouldn't be happening in a premium $1,999 model. Also, shouldn't this KEY feature (caching with SSD) be enabled out of the box?
i have lenovo G510.i have enabled the Intel Virtual Technology is enabled from BIOS but when i installled Intel Processor Identification Utility shows Status as NO instead of YES. I have upgrades the BIOS 3.09 latest one so far but still same problem

I cant figure out why, but im thinking maybe my wireless Logitech mouse/keyboard that I use while docked has something to do with it?
Need to change the touchpad settings on my Dell XPS 14Z, running Windows Professional XP 64.
Online searches to find the touchpad settings have indicated touchpad settings could be accessed in the Control Panel under Mouse options or via an icon in the taskbar.
Unfortunately, none of these appear true. Control Panel>Mouse does not have any touchpad tabs and there is no touchpad icon in my taskbar.
Attempts to find the user manual for this model have also proved fruitless. The link on the Dell site for the XPS 14z directs me to a user manual for a different model laptop (M1330).

I've just bought a used Dell Latitude D830 (UK, XP SP2) and find the touchpad won't scroll. Otherwise pad, trackpoint and buttons all work ok.
I went into Control Panel assuming that the scroll areas weren't set up. Not so - unlike on my old C640, there are no separate Synaptics set-up tabs. Nothing - and it claims there's a Microsoft mouse plugged into PS2 .
I installed the touchpad driver. I am not able to access the touchpad settings when I click on the ones with the yellow arrow. Nothing happens. I want to turn off tap to click.

- I tried to do a "recover / estore" but there was nothing in the list - I already installed the laptop also installed many programs (e.g: office, winscp, irfanview etc.)
- I tried to go through the "help center" on the laptop and same issue - nothing, all empty
- I even try to reinstall from the disk I got with the laptop BUT it didn't found my hard disks... so basically, my question is how can I install the laptop from the included windows 8 cd that I got?
I just want to reinstall my laptop like it was as I got it from the factory
a few weeks ago (I think after the last windows update) all of a sudden my touchpad settings were gone. I've had this computer (Inspiron N5110, Windows 7) for about 9 months and it's been great until now. The touchpad is now super sensitive and the cursor seems to go anywhere it wants, probably because my palms barely brush it when I'm typing but I usually feel like I am not touching it at all. It will open whatever the cursor is hovering over, even when I don't click it. I tried to find the settings for the touchpad under Control Panel>Mouse but there is nothing for the touch pad.Am I just not looking in the right spot for the settings?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have had my notebook for 10 days. The cursor jumps so badly that the computer is almost unusable for anything but reading email or web browsing. The only way I can prevent the cursor from jumping is to dsiable the touchpad by using Fn+F7. There is no sensitivity setting in the Mouse properties.
