My Vostro is about two weeks old and the touchpad suddenly stopped working. I have tried the function key to make sure it is enabled and did the f12 on boot but not sure I ran the correct test. I have a Dell support depot nearby so I may have to take the laptop to them if this can't be resolved - I have purchased pro support so it's fully covered.
View 3 RepliesI tried to clean the underneath of the touchpad mouse buttons of this Dell Vostro 2520 Notebook. since then both the buttons are not working. I am not being able to use the left right buttons and now using an external mouse.
What do I need to replace? How to purchase and from where. dell techincl support phone waiting time is currently 2-3 hours. I just tried.
I own a Dell Vostro 2520, replaced Ubuntu with Windows 7. Ever since the OS was changed, I see no Touchpad option under "Mouse and other devices" in the device manager. The touchpad works fine in safe mode but does not work nine times out of ten when booting regularly in Windows..
In Device Manager, the touchpad has an exclamation point and the error "This device cannot start. Code 10"...
I tried re-installing the driver provided by Dell and also the reference driver directly from the Synaptics website and neither fixed the issue..............
My Vostro 1520 touchpad pointer only moves horizontally. It runs win7/64. I have updated its driver to the latest version.

There is no software installed only new win7, latest DELL bios A13 and all latest drivers (chipset, video card, etc).I have performed and CPU fan disgnostic (reboot->F12 ->Disgnostic) it is passed. CPU FAN speed is reported 4600RPM.

1 USB PORT AT BACK (USB 3) not working
1 USB PORT RIGHT (USB 3) not working
1 USB LEFT (USB 2) works
1 USB LEFT (USB 2.0/ SATA) WORKS
Why not the other. I even updated BIOS.
Last night my audio went dead, and I didn't change or install anything.
I've run the diagnostics tool and confirmed that the audio is indeed working, both the internal and the headphone jack.
I'm running Windows 7 x64 and the drivers I'm using are from Dell's driver site, version 6.10.0 6224 dated 03/11/2009
I've tried older drivers but no luck.
I have a Dell Vostro 1015 Laptop and the graphics card is not working for me. I know it has a built-in graphics card and there is nothing i can do about that but is there any type of external add-on type of thing for a graphics card ? I've tried any SW solution possible, including re-install it, install a lite version with no add-on's, and format my laptop, and nothing worked.

View 5 Replies View RelatedTo start off, i have a dell xps m1530. i just recently (a week ago) installed windows 8 on it and it was working perfectly fine until about a day ago. My touchpad suddenly started typing symbols when i moved my finger around on it and then all together it just quit working including the buttons.
I later discovered that if i were to press the caps lock key my whole keyboard would quit working until i restarted my computer. I've tried reinstalling all different kinds of alps drivers for my touchpad including the one i had before the windows 8 switch, which was supposedly compatible with windows 8, and still have got nothing to work or change.
Under the device manager my touchpad still shows up but has a "code 24" under the description of it which means something isnt working properly, not plugged in or the drivers are nonexistant. I am so lost now and dont know how to get my touchpad working again or why my keyboard quits working when i hit caps lock (which doesnt actually turn on the caps lock anymore).
