How to make my touch-pad scroll function work? I drag my fingertip up or down the right side of the pad, on the line, and get nada, zip. If i hold down the left click key i can scroll with the window slide bar but thats it. I have checked all of the settings for mouse that I know about. .

I need a driver that will allow me to edge scroll, that is using one finger on the far right of the touchpad for scrolling. Bonus points if the driver allows "momentum" and doesn't mess up other stuff.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was on a friend's brand-new inspiron 1525 today. After I began using it, I immediately noticed just how awful the touchpad is.
It is extremely inprecise. It's almost as if the sensitivity is constantly changing as I use the touchpad. I don't remember if I tried adjusting the settings; if I did, it didn't help.
I soon discovered that if you move your finger in a perfectly straight horizontal motion across the touchpad (no vertical motion), the cursor, as it's moving across the screen, will also 'bounce" up and down, getting worse towards the right side of the tochpad.
It doesn't abruptly jump at all; rather, it's as if the linearity of the touchpad is WAY off.
i cant make the monitor to work in his native resolution 2560x1600.The best i can get is 1920x1200 with hdmi cable.i have try with hdmi to dvi cable and it give me 1920x1080
- hdmi to hdmi cable 1920x1200
- hdmi to displayport cable - no image at all
I am considering getting a new Dell laptop for school (word processing, internet browsing, etc.),
however, it will be a Dual core processor rather than a Core 2 duo, does it make a difference and do you think it is worth paying an extra $100 to upgrade to a core2duo?
Furthermore, does anyone own this laptop or have any additional information they can provide concerning the performance of this laptop?
I got a Dell Inspiron 1318 from Walmart when it first got on the market. I like the machine, a decent keyboard, upgraded the memory and it is all good - except for the T2390 CPU.
I read the service manual and saw you can upgrade the CPU. What is the maximum CPU you can use to replace the T2390 for this laptop?
If anyone has any used resources or a used CPU - let me know I am interested in buying.
Does anyone know how to figure out what model is my heatsink, or where to buy them? i looked in ebay but can't find it.
i noticed that my laptop kept running hotter and hotter until i decided to look if the fanswhere even working and saw that the heat sink fan is not moving.
Suddenly my laptop lid broke on one of the ends. The was not supported on one end. I was unable to close or open the lid..
Dell says, limited warranty is not covered for this issue....

Means that if you keep pressing any key on the keyboard except ctrl and alt keys then use the touchpad the cursor doesn't move it doesn't respond. I haven't downloaded any drivers. Will this work, my understanding you needed a Vista disc, and this computer does not seem to have a partition with Vista on it, for the repair. I wondering if this will work? I tried diagnostics everything seems fine, but it loops to safe mode.
I've just bought a used Dell Latitude D830 (UK, XP SP2) and find the touchpad won't scroll. Otherwise pad, trackpoint and buttons all work ok.
I went into Control Panel assuming that the scroll areas weren't set up. Not so - unlike on my old C640, there are no separate Synaptics set-up tabs. Nothing - and it claims there's a Microsoft mouse plugged into PS2 .
I bought a dell xps 13 a few months ago. I was pretty happy with its performance untill a few days ago, when its touchpad refuses to scroll periodically. While it is refusing to scroll, other multi-finger gestures like zoom, pinch etc work. Also, touchscreen scroll and mouse scroll also work. Problem doesn't go away even if I disable and re enable the driver. It sometimes goes away on its own, or on restarting the computer.

Unable to test keyboard by pressing f8 at start-up to get to a command prompt. also unable to press f6 to enable keyboard.
In windows mobility center, the 'turn on' button for the touch pad is grayed out. Is it possible that the keyboard/touch pad connections are not plugged in tightly? i don't want to to open up the laptop unless that is a good option...
My touchpad doesn't work but the buttons are working fine. It also clicks randomly (not with the left or right mouse buttons) so I have to disable it. I have installed the latest version of the Synaptic driver and the problem still persists. I think only the touchpad is having a problem because when I use a wireless mouse, it works fine.

While the charging problem is fixed, whenever I plug my computer in with this adapter, the mouse becomes erratic. I can do basic navigation, then the cursor flips out and flies over what I'm about to click, so aiming for anything is like running on ice. I read a few things online as to what this is, and wound up updating my mouse driver and BIOS, even "releasing flea power" (Either I did it wrong or it didn't work) This has done nothing for this problem. I don't want to have to replace this computer. This is a Dell Inspiron N5110

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy computer is the dell 1747 Studio Laptop running Windows 7 Professional. It has the built-in Synaptics Touch Pad. When you drag your finger on the far right side of the pa, it auto scrolls through the document on the screen.
I use my Laptop almost exclusively with a remote desktop connection. I process large documents (some as many as 200 pages). If I accidentally drag my hand or finger up or down on the left side of the touch pad, it begins to scroll. Since it is a remote desktop connection, it will not stop scrolling until it reaches the end of the document either up or down. I have to sit and wait for it to finish scrolling before I can use the computer again.
I would like to know how to turn OFF auto scrolling on the touch pad. There is a "wheel" setting in the device setup menu but you can only turn it down to "1" not "zero".
When I disabled the touch-pad (by Fn+F3) the touch-pad is disabled but the orange light indicator doesn't work...It worked before very well I don't know what is the problem? I uninstalled and reinstalled the touch-pad driver again but there is no change..I'm working on win 8 64 bit
