Acer :: Aspire M1640, ERecovering Management Fails To Respond
Apr 9, 2009
I have tried creating a recovery disk using the ‘Acer Empowering Technology’ but every time i click on the “create factory default disc” button, the “Acer eRecovering Management” freezes and i get an error message saying : Acer Empowering Technology Framework launcher has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows is collecting more information about the problem.
Another thing, i know how to unhide the 'PQSERVICE' partition, but i'm wondering if it's possible to create these discs directly from the partition without the need for the faulty 'eRecovery Management'. If yes, how?
When I am working on my laptop off battery power and I shut the monitor without shutting the pc down, at times it seems like the pc is in sleep mode but will not respond. I have to (I guess you would call it hard start it), reboot it to get it working again. Usually the screen is black when I reopen my laptop. Today, browser was barely visible. What is going on with my pc?
My keyboard has started being erratic and not responding when some keys are pressed. I use the notebook mostly as a docking station, with a larger monitor and separate keyboard, so it's not an issue of the keys being misused or over-used. It's not related (as far as I can determine) to caps lock or any interference with USBs. It happens when I'm booting up as well as when I'm typing in a document and with nothing attached to the computer other than the power cable.
I currently have a Acer Aspire V3 Laptop that runs on the most current version of Windows 8. Ran perfectly fine last night without any kind of problems. Went to get on it this morning and the power button won't respond. When it is plugged in, the LED light shows that it's charging, but when I try to turn it on, the power button doesn't respond. Every few presses, the power button lights up for a split second, then turns off. The screen never responds to the power button being on for a split second.
I have tried downloading the current BIOS from the US site, uncompressing the files and running the application and recieve " open flash.sys fail".
THEN I tried downloading V1.8 from the european site and again, unzipped the files, looked everything over, and ran the application and got the same error "open flash.sys fail" I am a rookie, and I want to upgrade the processor to a dual core cpu, but cant even get the BIOS updated. HELP! Its frustrating. I have an Acer Aspire 5315 with a dual core cpu and I love it. I just want ot upgrade my 4315.
I don't know why my acer aspire E1-510 fails to upload windows...after wasting so much time, it revert changes and thats freaking me out...its also very slow...I tried playing fifa2013 on it.its so slow...
Just had my Aspire E15 for a month and even though the power supply lights are on it fails to start up and just have a blank screen with the pointer mouse on.
I have an Acer Aspire E1-522. I am trying to find out why when I click on Acer Recovery Management it does nothing. Just in case I ever need it I would like to be able to use it. In Programs and Features (Windows 8) the version number is 6.00.810 ....
Hey guys I have a Acer Aspire 5590. I installed empowering technology, then I installed enet, eperformance, and esettings for it, I tried installing epower management but it says I need net frame 1.1 but yet I installed 2.0 then 3.5 yesterday.. and it still doesn't work. I formatted the laptop yesterday, but when it was not formatted it had all the acer programs on it, such as the one where it controls the battery performance, so I could change the screen brightness, how fast the laptop goes and what the settings are when it's running on battery. What is that program called, could somebody send me a link so that I have all the acer programs that come with acer laptops? I have Windows XP
So my friend gave me his laptop to fix, and everything is perfect... except that the acer emanagement program doesnt have any power management options, like slowing down processor etc.
What can I do? Where could I find the proper Emanager?
Has anyone noticed that Optical Drive Power Management occassionally stop working, i.e., pressing the eject button on your laptop, Windows does not detect your optical drive? Does anyone know how to get Windows to detect the drive, short of restarting?
(my OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 64. I am using Optical Drive Power Management for Windows Vista Home Premium 64 - I just installed the program in compatibility mode. Before anyone suggests this is the cause of the problem, I was experiencing this same problem in Vista Home Premium 64 and was hopeful that Windows 7 would fix it...)
I bought a new Aspire V3-472P-5706  I wanted to create some recovery drives etc. so I clicked on the recovery management program  It asks if I want to allow the software to make changes to my harddrive. I click yes and then it goes to desktop. But the software never starts. I tried again with the task manager open and the Recovery Management task runs, but then stops after a while.
I'm seeing the following:  600 MB Healthy (Recovery Partition) 300 MB Healthy (EFI System Partition) 449 GB Healthy (Boot, Page etc...) 15.5 GB Healthy (Recovery Partition)  Given I'm supposed to be running OEM Windows 8.1 shouldn't 1 of the first 2 partitions say OEM?  If that is so I know what I've done and it will probably require a recovery disk to set things straight (i.e. recover the original Acer version of Windows 8.1). This is a follow-on from a previous post where I foolishly installed an evaluation copy of Windows 10 instead of running it using virtual software (which is what I usually do with these things) - I can't remember for sure but it's likely I installed it by formatting the whole disk and probably wiping the OEM partition.  I do have a system image taken a few days before I installed W10 but suspect the OEM wasn't included...which is what is displayed above after I reloaded it.
I just purchased an Acer E511 laptop with windows 8 and am wondering if the acer recovery management program can be removed. I noticed that when I go into settings, change pc settings, I can recover using windows 8. Will this option be removed if I uninstall Acer Recovery Management? What's the difference between the two?
I have recently purchased an Acer Aspire VN-591G which came with Windows 8.1 preinstalled. Â I now wish to reset it to factory settings and I can't seem to do that as I have accidentally uninstalled the Acer Recovery Management software. Â The recovery partition is intact, but I can't seem to be able to do anything with it. Â Â I tried booting up using Alt + F10 but it opens up the default Windows 8 boot screen, where if I choose to reset the system it asks me to insert the recovery media (which I don't have as the system only came with the recovery partition). Â I think I spent 3h searching through the internet trying to find the Acer Recovery Management software that comes with Windows 8.1 (which I'm hoping will be able to access the recovery partition and use it to restore the laptop to its original state), however, it seems that this is nowhere to be found. Â I find it absurd for Acer not to provide this software as a download for their systems - how would you be able to use the recovery partition in case of a system failure ?
i tried booting up directly on the recovery partition but I didn't manage to do that (maybe I was doing something wrong - got an error about the disk not being a fixed MBR disk ? Â Â Trying to set the recovery partition as active from the disk management screen in Windows is even more useless. I can't assign it a drive letter either to try to access it (I found some forums post that was suggesting to copy the boot files on the primary partition to allow the system to boot into the Acer Recovery Management screen directly.
I was wondering if my cpu could be upgraded to the latest chip in the P class (P9700). My laptop came with, (Intel Core 2 Duo CPU P7350) at 2.0ghz. I can't even run the game Crysis and this machine is supposed to be meant for gaming.
I have just received today my new Studio XPS M1640 laptop (with blue ray drive and led screen) and so far all seems to be good except ... It can't play Blue-Ray movies. When I insert a BD disk, the autoplay only gives me the option to explore the folders with explorer. No option to play the disk. If I right click on the drive, I can select powerdvd but once in powerdvd nothing happens.
Notes: 1) I can see the folders on the BD disk in explorer 2) I tried it with the version of powerdvd dx that came with the laptop and also used the online update option of powerdvd dx to get the latest version (8.1). No change. 3) I'm trying to play to the built-in screen, no external monitor connected. 4) I've read somewhere about a blue-ray icon in powerdvd, I don't see this. 5) A long call with Dell support yielded nothing. I specifically asked if they might have shipped the wrong version (non-blue ray of powerdvd), the tech said that they only have the one version and that it has been tested to play BD disks properly. 6) Dell support says to try with other BD disks and if it still doesn't work to return the computer to have it fixed. (I don't really want to do that since it seems to be a software problem). 7) I ran the Cyberlink Blue Ray advisor and it tells me that all is fine except that it doesn't detect a blue ray software player.
Anybody else ran into this? Any solutions?
It would seem a bit strange to have to pay extra for a blue ray movie player on a brand new laptop that included a blue ray drive.
I downloaded a 800+ MB game today and was playing it even though it said my graphics card didn't match and stuff... I got a couple runtime errors and the game got shut down, but later I started ignoring the messages when I figured out that way, I can keep playing. Then I "accidentally" responded to the error message and when the game got shut down the computer stopped responding at all. I force-shut down the computer by holding down the power button. Then, after that when I try to turn on the computer the fan starts turning and green light comes up... for about 3 seconds. Then it takes a .1 sec-long break and tries again for another 3 seconds, then gives in completely. It does this when it has power, so I don't think it's the battery. It won't even show the Acer screen at the very beginning. It's a Vista, no recovery CD (do you ever get recovery CD's for Vista?). Any chance we get our notebook alive and kicking again?
ACER Travelmate 2420 fails to see operating system and will not restore from disc.
My Acer Travelmate 2420 now fails to see the operating system. When I use the restore DVD that I had made it boots up and after a while the recovery runs. I hit a problem when the machine asks for disc 2 to continue the recovery. Only one disc was ever made during the back up session.
A few facts.
Before the OS failed Acer Recovery and other Acer Programs had started to not function.
The C: and D: drives where NTFS Formatted.
I have even considered cleaning the hard drive altogether and installing a new OS. The problem here is that I can't get into DOS Mode.
1. Can anyone give me information on how to change the default drive for user-created backups? Currently they are stored to the D: drive. My D: drive is currently full and I need to change this location?
2. Also, where can I find some useful info explaining the recovery procedure in the event of a system crash?
I have a stereo system hooked up to my computer through component style cables (Red/White) that connect through the headphone jack. If I switch eAudio Management to S/PDIF Digital Output, the sound works much better. But if I try and do something else, like switch to youtube, the audio wont play at all. If I go back to iTunes again, it also wont play. I have to close iTunes, switch eAudio to "Built-In Speakers", re-open iTunes, then switch back to S/PDIF. Its a pain to have to open and close iTunes all the time. The audio quality is much better with S/PDIF and dont want to have to sacrifice by leaving it on Built-In Speakers. My actual stereo plays when Built-In Speakers is selected (not the laptop speakers), the quality is just inferior. Are there any reasons for this? Is there any solution to fixing it so that the S/PDIF is always working?
I tried to create a document on the MS Word 2007 that came with my Acer TravelMate 5720 - XP, Office 2007. The completed docu was saved to My Documents. When I went to My Documents to open the file, the icon contained a red bar, was labeled as encrypted, and would not open. I tried saving another - same result. The Notepad documents I save are fine but the Excel files are encrypted too. When I try to open the encrypted Word.docx file, an Acer window pops up titled Acer eData Security Management and says "System setup must be completed before you can use Acer eData Security Management. Please click "Next" to start the setup." Apparently I have turned on the Acer eData Security Management system somehow. I am not interested in using the Acer eData Security Management. It would be easy to remove the program but then it would not be available should I ever decide differently. Any ideas any one would care to offer about how I may have accomplished turning on the Acer eData Security Management system, and most importantly, how do I turn it back off,
I recently bought an Acer Aspire 6935 and I'm very happy with the performance. I formatted the hard drive and installed vista x64. Now my laptop frequently overheats and then shuts down automatically. I just read that it might have someting to do with the epower management module, which I don't have anymore (after format). I can't find any downloads for my model;
