Acer :: Disk Management Partitions For Aspire V11 Touch Running OEM Windows 8.1?

I'm seeing the following:
Â
600 MB Healthy (Recovery Partition)
300 MB Healthy (EFI System Partition)
449 GB Healthy (Boot, Page etc...)
15.5 GB Healthy (Recovery Partition)
Â
Given I'm supposed to be running OEM Windows 8.1 shouldn't 1 of the first 2 partitions say OEM?

If that is so I know what I've done and it will probably require a recovery disk to set things straight (i.e. recover the original Acer version of Windows 8.1). This is a follow-on from a previous post where I foolishly installed an evaluation copy of Windows 10 instead of running it using virtual software (which is what I usually do with these things) - I can't remember for sure but it's likely I installed it by formatting the whole disk and probably wiping the OEM partition.

I do have a system image taken a few days before I installed W10 but suspect the OEM wasn't included...which is what is displayed above after I reloaded it.

I had a quick look at Disk Management on my new Vostro 5470, and there are not less than 7 partitions displayed over there.
The laptop has a SSD of 128GB installed. I know that GPT hard drives require several partitions (to be specific, I know only about ESP, MSR and data partitions only) - but 7? My data partition has only 99GB available. That surely isn't a lot.
I know that some sort of Intel recovery is installed, and I know that the Dell diagnostics is installed somewhere too.

I'm having a problem to install windows 7 pro on my Lenovo t440s ( that came with windows 8 ) using a memory stick.I went to the windows 7 installation menu and formatted the Windows 8 partition, so now I have :
Disk 0 Partition 1: WINRE_DRVÂ 1GBÂ OEM
Disk 0 Partition 2 : System_DRVÂ 260MBÂ System
Disk 0 Partition 3Â 128MBÂ MSR
Disk 0 Unnallocated Space 225GB ( it was the old windows 8 partition )
Disk 0 Partition 4: Lenovo_Recory 12.1GB OEMÂ
However, when i try to use the free space to install the windows 7 i get this error :" Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partitions style. "Â
I tried to bot using Legacy Boot Only and after using UEFI/Legacy Boot and nothing changed, I'm still receiving the same error.I read that I have to select each of the partitions on the drive, and select Delete. Then the drive will show a single area of unallocated space that I should use to install windows.there is any problem in delete all my partitions of Lenovo T440s? Can I delete the OEM partitions?

I just purchased an Acer E511 laptop with windows 8 and am wondering if the acer recovery management program can be removed. I noticed that when I go into settings, change pc settings, I can recover using windows 8. Will this option be removed if I uninstall Acer Recovery Management? What's the difference between the two?

I have recently purchased an Acer Aspire VN-591G which came with Windows 8.1 preinstalled.

I now wish to reset it to factory settings and I can't seem to do that as I have accidentally uninstalled the Acer Recovery Management software.

The recovery partition is intact, but I can't seem to be able to do anything with it.

I tried booting up using Alt + F10 but it opens up the default Windows 8 boot screen, where if I choose to reset the system it asks me to insert the recovery media (which I don't have as the system only came with the recovery partition).

I think I spent 3h searching through the internet trying to find the Acer Recovery Management software that comes with Windows 8.1 (which I'm hoping will be able to access the recovery partition and use it to restore the laptop to its original state), however, it seems that this is nowhere to be found.

I find it absurd for Acer not to provide this software as a download for their systems - how would you be able to use the recovery partition in case of a system failure ?
i tried booting up directly on the recovery partition but I didn't manage to do that (maybe I was doing something wrong - got an error about the disk not being a fixed MBR disk ?

Trying to set the recovery partition as active from the disk management screen in Windows is even more useless. I can't assign it a drive letter either to try to access it (I found some forums post that was suggesting to copy the boot files on the primary partition to allow the system to boot into the Acer Recovery Management screen directly.

I have had my aspire e1 touch for a couple months now and a couple weeks in it randomly wouldn't detect the touch ability. Â I have to shut the laptop down and back on again for it to work (simple restart won't work) Â It's a new computer so I haven't upgraded any os, it's running with the Windows 8.1 it came with and I have chrome as the browser. Â It seems to happen when I wake it from sleep, not in the middle of using it. Â When the touch is not working, the device manager doesn't even detect that touch is an option (it's hidden, but grey and cannot be enabled)....

So, as you can see, the computer can be turned on, but it doesn't get through the acer screen on to the windows picture, and it automatically reboots and shuts itself down again over and over again. This has happened in the past, but the repairers have reset the operating system and BIOS. They also switched the hard disk for a new one, but this could be because of some other problems I was having (USB channels weren't working).
Everything worked fine for a month or so, and then it happened again. I myself am thinking about the motherboard being damaged.When this happened in the past however, I was still able to turn on my PC sometimes, so I was also able to save my files. Now on the other hand, I can't get the computer on anymore. The most important thing to me is saving the files. After that, I'll take it away for reparation again, where they will probably delete everything again (I can't commicate with the repairers myself, so I can't discuss terms or anything).

At the end of the vid you can see me turning off the computer by pulling out the adapter. Removing both the adapter and accu is the only way the computer can be turned off. Even shutting it down by pushing the on/off button for 5 seconds will not prevent the auto re-boot.

I've run the Win 7 upgrade adviser and it says the system can run Win 7 as it has CPU 1.6 Ghz and 2.0 GB of RAM. However in the device section it says that the Mobile Intel (R) 915GM/GMS, 910GML Express Chipset Family is not compatible - driver not compatible with Windows 7 . Is there a driver I can download to fix this problem? I've checked the Intel download web site but can't determine whether a driver exists or not ??

I just bought my Acer Aspire V5-552g a week ago. Everything seems to be working fine. However, Windows advised me to install updates which I did. After installing the updates the touch gestures are not working anymore. I tried updating my drivers, which I downloaded from the Acer support site, but it did not work. All gestures are not working. What I need to do. Is this a result of updating Windows? How can I undo the update?

I have pre-installed Vista Ultimate 32bit.. and I want to do dual boot with Linux.. but when I try to partitionate the program from which I'm doing this says I can only have maximum 4 partitions.. which I currently have.. (dunno why this..normally in theory you can create how many partitions you want.. nevertheless..) 2 NTFS..using them with Windows .. and 2 Hidden for recovery..
I've made 2 Acer recovery disks so I can restore my system but I want to do dual boot.. so I don't know exactly how.. if I can't create other partitions..
I can delete those 2 Hidden partitions and still can recover my Vista ? and After that I can create others?

i just bought a new aspire 4715z and on first boot i found tons of Crapware installed in vista so i 100% removed all partitions and made 1 NTFS partition and installed a copy of vista i had sitting around my problem is i want to get back to my factory setup and acer sent me 3 disks by Fed-ex one disk is called
Acer System Disk ( CD)
Acer Recovery Disk 1-2
Acer Recovery Disk 2-2
I try the system disk first
then put in Recovery disk 1-2 and it gets to about 8% and i get an error and it reboots.
I think its because i dont have the partitions setup like it was at factory and the MBR-Master boot Record is also diff now.
What Can I do to get my Disk back in shape and why wont these Cd's do it for me ?
the hardware is good and the Drive is good im in Vista now posting on the laptop.
I just want this to work as i bought a laptop and should be able to restore to factory no matter what i have done to the laptop

I have changed the Windows power settings so that when I close the lid it goes into hibernate mode. However, when I open the lid it does not start the laptop and restore from hibernation. I have to open the lid and press the power-on button and then it restores from hibernation.

I have a much cheaper Toshiba Laptop that just automatically starts and restores from hibernation when I open the lid. As far as I recall there were no special settings that I changed in order for the Toshiba to work like that, just the setting in the Windows power option that permits hibernation when closing the lid. The Toshiba run Windows 8.0.

I have several questions related to disk management of the SSD memory:
1. My computer has 384GB, and Disk Management shows a total of 357GB. Is the difference (the other 27GB) the area reserved for bad memory management and for GC?
2. I'd like to increase the area available for GC. Should I leave another 8% unallocated for a total available of 15%, or should I leave 15% unallocated in addition to the 27GB?
3. Assuming that I should use the 'Shrink Volume' function to unallocate space from C:, I find that my 349GB C: can be shrunk by a max of only 162GB to a 'minimum' size of 187GB. Why would this be?
4. My intent is to make the C: drive ~80GB, make a D: drive of ~200GB, and leave the rest unallocated for GC. How should I do this?

I am having an issue with my Acer Aspire V5-431P-4653 running Windows 8.1, namely, I cannot adjust the screen brightness at all. It seems to arbitrarily select a brightness level upon start up and from that point I cannot change it via the Fn and directional keys or through the control panel power settings. I have owned the laptop for a year and a half and this problem began roughly a week ago.Â

Of note, when I attempt to use the Fn and directional keys the brightness icon that pops up stays at the frozen brightness level - it does not move at all. In contrast, when I open the power settings and attempte to change the brightness from there, the brightness slider will move wherever I drag it, but the screen's brightness itself does not change. At startup the screen's brightness may be at full, minimum or somewhere in between - but regardless it will not adjust.

I'm having major problems with connecting to the wireless network in the office. It sees the network, allows me to enter the security credentials, then connects (with confimed internet connectivity) but drops out after 10-20 seconds. I have tried the wireless network at a friend's house which worked ok without any interruptions, so it is definitely nothing wrong with the hardware. I'm using a brand new Acer Aspire V3-572-56T3 on Windows 8.1, with all the latest drivers/patches loaded and have tried fiddling with many of the advanced settings for the network adapter to no avail. I logged on to the router to ensure all settings, encryption standards, channels etc. were matching but the problem keeps persisting. This has been ongoing for two days now and is driving me insane as I really need to have wi-fi working in the office. Plugging an ethernet cable straight into the router works fine but it's not the ideal solution (and is posing an OH&S hazard as it is laying on the floor).

I have an Acer Aspire 5741-5698 running Windows 7. Â I never want to connect to the internet wirelessly. Â I only want to connect rarely with a wired connection. Â I can disconnect the wireless by pressing Fn+F3 but I never see a "Launch Manager". Â The problem is when I turn off the computer and turn it back on, it defaults to connect wirelessly. Â I went to Manage Wireless Networks in Control Panel and selected Manually Connect to my home Network. Â That did not work. How can I stop it from connecting automatically wirelessly? Â

Hey guys I have a Acer Aspire 5590. I installed empowering technology, then I installed enet, eperformance, and esettings for it, I tried installing epower management but it says I need net frame 1.1 but yet I installed 2.0 then 3.5 yesterday.. and it still doesn't work. I formatted the laptop yesterday, but when it was not formatted it had all the acer programs on it, such as the one where it controls the battery performance, so I could change the screen brightness, how fast the laptop goes and what the settings are when it's running on battery. What is that program called, could somebody send me a link so that I have all the acer programs that come with acer laptops? I have Windows XP

Has anyone noticed that Optical Drive Power Management occassionally stop working, i.e., pressing the eject button on your laptop, Windows does not detect your optical drive? Does anyone know how to get Windows to detect the drive, short of restarting?
(my OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 64. I am using Optical Drive Power Management for Windows Vista Home Premium 64 - I just installed the program in compatibility mode. Before anyone suggests this is the cause of the problem, I was experiencing this same problem in Vista Home Premium 64 and was hopeful that Windows 7 would fix it...)

I have tried creating a recovery disk using the ‘Acer Empowering Technology’ but every time i click on the “create factory default disc” button, the “Acer eRecovering Management” freezes and i get an error message saying : Acer Empowering Technology Framework launcher has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows is collecting more information about the problem.
Another thing, i know how to unhide the 'PQSERVICE' partition, but i'm wondering if it's possible to create these discs directly from the partition without the need for the faulty 'eRecovery Management'. If yes, how?

It asks if I want to allow the software to make changes to my harddrive. I click yes and then it goes to desktop. But the software never starts. I tried again with the task manager open and the Recovery Management task runs, but then stops after a while.
