View 3 Replies View RelatedI have had my aspire e1 touch for a couple months now and a couple weeks in it randomly wouldn't detect the touch ability. I have to shut the laptop down and back on again for it to work (simple restart won't work) It's a new computer so I haven't upgraded any os, it's running with the Windows 8.1 it came with and I have chrome as the browser. It seems to happen when I wake it from sleep, not in the middle of using it. When the touch is not working, the device manager doesn't even detect that touch is an option (it's hidden, but grey and cannot be enabled)....
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought my Acer Aspire V5-552g a week ago. Everything seems to be working fine. However, Windows advised me to install updates which I did. After installing the updates the touch gestures are not working anymore. I tried updating my drivers, which I downloaded from the Acer support site, but it did not work. All gestures are not working. What I need to do. Is this a result of updating Windows? How can I undo the update?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy girlfriend gave me a brandnew Aspire Timeline 1810TZ with build in G3 (UMTS) for Christmas. When i played around with the preinstalled system (Windows 7 Home Premium x64), I could use the hardware switch in the front of the chassis to enable/ disable the build-in G3-Module.
But as you know, the preinstalled OS are normally very slow, so i formatted the System and installed Windows 7 Professional x64. After installation of all drivers from the Acer website, the switch for enabling the G3 didn't worked anymore! I reformated again with Windows 7 Home Premium x64, but there was the same Picture: No, response from the G3-Switch.
The funny thing is: G3 and WLAN share the same physical hardware switch (you have to flip it to the left to enable/disable G3, and to enable/ disable WLAN you have to flip it to the right).
Flipping the switch to the right activated WLAN without any problem!
I have no idea how to fix this (tried every driver i could find).
Okay so my first question is this: Right now my wireless light is on showing that it's wireless, but if I close my laptop, or if it goes to sleep, and then I go back onto my laptop the wireless stops working and the light is off and it won't go on when I move the switch. I have a Aspire 5590
My second question is: I've hooked up a second monitor to my laptop I checked the settings and it works like this, if I move my mouse to the right and keep going, my mouse appears on the second screen. How can I make it so that the start menu and everything goes from the first to the second screen that way I can close my laptop, cause if I close my laptop screen it disables the second screen also/
I'm using Aspire V5-473PG.
Recently I noticed that my touch screen sometimes starts to hits randomly at the bottom of the screen. This problem cause some windows became minimize and maximize on its own and when i'm watching video, the video keep pause, play and pause again. I tried to find any crack on the screen but found nothing.
I have tried all the other tips and driver downloads, removing battery, reloading drivers, sleep "wake up", all with temporary success. Acer says to refresh the computer, that does not work either. It is new with about 20 hours on it. I took the first machine back to retailer and same situation with the new machine.
Clearly this is an issue with Acer notebook touchpads and at least in my case W8.1. That is why google is littered with search titles for acer touch pads not working.
I just bought an aspire switch 10 last week, but I already got into problems with it.You see, when I turn it on, the acer logo appears, but then the screen goes blank and black. When I tried pressing some buttons, there is a mans voice and tells what the button I pressed is. Then nothing happens. It's just like that to every button. I tried to turn it of by just having the battery empty. Cause the screens still blank. What do I do about it?
View 1 Replies View Relatedi'm having problems with my new acer v5 touchpad... i made a clean install of windows 8.1 and installed all the win 8.1 drivers from the acer support site. from the device id of my touchpad (ACPISYN1B71) i assumed that it is a synaptics model.
the problem now: after installing several versions of the driver, even trying the alps and elantech versions, i could never manage to get multi-gesture settings in the settings windows from synaptics - there are only settings visible for right- and left-click. where are the multi-touch gesture options for windows 8?
basic funtions work, like left click, two-finger right click and two-finger scrolling, but nothing is configurable and all the other gestures are not available.
On my new Aspire Switch 10 SW5-012 with Windows 8.1 I am unable to change the size of the onscreen keyboard. Microsoft cannot answer and refers to Acer support. Is there a solution to that?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got a Acer Aspire V3 771-6605 with Windows 8.1. My touch pad wouldn't scroll or respond to any finger gestures, so I tried installing the ELANTECH and Synaptics touch pad drivers from the acer support site for my laptop. However, after I restarted the computer I keep getting stuck at the screen right before where you put in your password (the lock screen?). The only keys that seem to do anything are the function keys.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased an Acer Aspire R7-572-6423 touchscreen notebook. It works great for the most part except for the touchscreen seems to glitch out every once in a while. What happens is out of nowhere the touch screen will start registering a click in the very upper left corner of the screen (as seen by the Windows 8 touch visual feedback) even though I am not touching the screen. The clicking happens very fast (several times a second) and makes the notebook unusuable.
I can make the clicking stop by touching and holding my finger on the screen near where the clicking is happening. However, as soon as I lift my finger, the clicking resumes.
To fix the issue, I have to do a touch screen calibration (Windows settings -> Tablet PC Settings -> Calibrate -> Touch input). However, the calibration appears to be off using this method (I cannot swipe the windows 8 bar to the right) so I then do a calibration reset (Tablet PC Settings -> Reset). This generally resolves the issue for a while.
I have tried moving the screen into different positions and cleaning the screen but the issue still comes back on occasion.
I'm seeing the following:
600 MB Healthy (Recovery Partition)
300 MB Healthy (EFI System Partition)
449 GB Healthy (Boot, Page etc...)
15.5 GB Healthy (Recovery Partition)
Given I'm supposed to be running OEM Windows 8.1 shouldn't 1 of the first 2 partitions say OEM?
If that is so I know what I've done and it will probably require a recovery disk to set things straight (i.e. recover the original Acer version of Windows 8.1). This is a follow-on from a previous post where I foolishly installed an evaluation copy of Windows 10 instead of running it using virtual software (which is what I usually do with these things) - I can't remember for sure but it's likely I installed it by formatting the whole disk and probably wiping the OEM partition.
I do have a system image taken a few days before I installed W10 but suspect the OEM wasn't included...which is what is displayed above after I reloaded it.
I've buyed a new XPS12 convertible ultrabook, when I've received the PC, the LCD not working, then has been replaced the LCD, but after that the LCD working in proper manner, but the Touch screen not running (date 17 of jan 2013) since this time the Technical support can not be able to solve this problem, first istance said there was some firmware version problem, they replace another time the LCD, but not solve the problem.
Today 34 day after receiving the payed ultrabook no answer has been provided, the only solution is to receive a new XPS12 but DELL need anoter 50 day to try to send me another PC.
I'm not sure if mt drivers are old, but my touch screen works sometimes then completely stops working and when I try to calibrate it, it tells me that there's no N-Trig duosense hardware on my computer. It says I DO have the hardware when it's in a 'working stage' though. Every time I try to download a driver, it says 'fatal error.'

My Device Manager shows that the I2C HID Device is not working (With a status of: This device cannot start. (Code 10) STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE
I'm not sure why as nothing changed... that I know of.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, I have made sure all drivers are up dated (as on dell.com), and eventually I even formatted the HDD thinking some update must have caused this.
Unfortunately I have had no luck.
Just to add, Dell replaced my screen (due to ghost images) about a month ago - I'm thinking this could be the cause.
I ordered Dell Inspiron 15 3521 (with Intel Celeron 1007U) online when the website said this has optical touchscreen capabilities. But when I got it (2 days ago), the touchscreen is not working and I don't think it was installed on the laptop. Will Dell exchange the laptop for the tochscreen free of charge?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a XPS 15 L502x.... and sometime in the past week, my touch screen has stopped responding completely. I've tried everything i can think of... all the settings i can find relating to touch input appear to be correct, etc, but no luck. I'm usually decently ok at fixing the problems my computer has on my own through a little internet research, but either no one's had this problem and posted about it or its buried many pages down in google.
I dont have time to go through the phone tech support hassle for another few days and i miss being able to use the touch screen function. Not that it was ever super-functional to begin with, but it was nice for scrolling and such ....
Just yesterday, 7-31-14, my mother was downloading pictures onto my HP Pavilion TouchSmart 15 Notebook PC. When she finished, I wanted to watch a video on YouTube so I got on the computer, but on the lockscreen I couldn't swipe and so I had to click and when I got to my password place, there was no touch-screen keyboard that usually pops up there. And now I can't play some of my games and I lost some of the abilities that this awesome laptop brings me.My mother said the only button she pressed was the f5 button at the top of the keyborad. Is that the problem?

I reinstalled windows on my laptop, and I go to re enroll my fingerprint with the fingerprint reader. The Fingerprint reader suite says I have no fingers enrolled, but when I go to enroll my finger again, it says the fingerprint is already enrolled. But I can't find it anywhere. I'm assuming the saved fingerprints are saved to the device itself, but I can't seem to import the saved prints.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI got this Notebook a couple of months ago at The Source in Alberta Canada. Worked fine for a week or so and then the touch screen began to stop working intermittently. Once or twice it seemed that cleaning the (not dirty) screen worked but not anymore. It has just stopped working completely for the past month or so. I've tried glass cleaner on a napkin and on a microfiber cloth..all the way to the edges and nothing. I've run all the troubleshooters, driver updates...everything is up to date and working properly or so they say.
