Lenovo X Series ThinkPad :: X1 Carbon Touch Backlit Keyboard Not Working
Jun 24, 2013For some reason, I cannot get the backlit keyboard to work on my new X1 Carbon Touch. It lights up upon powering up and then will not turn on no matter how many times I hit the space bar. I don't see an option to enable/disable anywhere either. Am I missing a driver?

Jan 19, 2013I have a 3444-CUU that I really love. When I first got it I realised the wireless adapter would just randomly stop working. I updated every possible driver and I'm still having the same issues. All I can do is reset the adapter to get it kicking again. I'm not sure if the wifi care is soldered or if it could be removed or replaced but I'm really leaning towards it being a hardware issue.
It'll either stop working could turkey, won't detect any wireless networks or it'll stop working and I can still view other wireless networks but I cannot connect to them. Resetting the adapter is the only option. As I'm writing this right now the wireless has gone out again. So I have to reset the adapter for 5-10 more minutes of internet just so that I can post this.

Does this model support touch screen and if so, how is it enabled. OS fully patched. Pen and Touch seems to be enabled but no response to tests.

May 3, 2013I just got my new carbon touch thinkpad today, and I couldn't be happier, until I closed the lid and reopened it a couple of minutes later. The screen froze for a while and then I got a BSOD with the notice CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED. I hoped it would be just some coincidence, and updating my drivers and installing windows updates would solve it. So I did, and closed the lid again. After reopening it, I got the same error. So I figured I could just as well restore to my factory settings. Without luck. After updating everything for a second time, still no luck. I check the disk and did a memory check, but everything seems fine. The lenovo Solution center isn't reporting any issues either. I looked into the minidump created by the blue screen, and it seemed the process failing is called csrss.exe.

Wonderful machine, but I hate Windows 8. I can say a lot about that, but let's just state tha fact that I'm not compatible with Windows 8.
Can I install Windows 7 intead? If so, how? Since there's no DVD drive in the system.
And if I install Windows 7, will I lose touch funtionality? WIll I lose other things? (apart from things in Windows 8 of course)

Jun 14, 2013I have a Carbon Touch 3444-CUU that can't see it's fingerprint reader. It used to work when brand new, but after lots of lenovo and windows updates, it now does not:
I am on Windows 8.1, with all updates. No problems in device manager.
Touchchip Fingerprint Coprocessor (WBF advanced mode) installed under Biometric devices fine.
Power management set to _not_ turn off device to save power.
The bios is 2.61.
I suspect the problem is very low-level, because even the BIOS cannot find device when trying to set it up.
If I have the latest BIOS, but it can't see the device - what can I do?

Aug 19, 2014My friend bought a U430 Touch with Windows 8. He hated Win 8 so downgrade to Win 7. Now the wireless dowsn't work. Ethernet works fine and we are able to get on the internet, but wireless does not work at all. I've been to Lenovo's site and downloaded the drivers from their support site, but nothing weems to work. Is there a special driver I'm missing?

Nov 10, 2013So I recently updated my u310 Touch to Windows 8.1. My audio isn't working anymore. I've checked the drivers, and updated all that come with the Windows 8.1 update.
My Device Manager says that my Conexant SmartAudio HD is updated, and so is my Intel (R) Display Audio. To make sure, I downloaded and installed the drivers from the Lenovo support site. When I try to play something on iTunes or on Windows Media Player, it just stops, and no sound is emmited. Youtube, or any other music player on the web, isn't working either.

Aug 15, 2014I just got this U530 and wanted to use a dual monitor setup with a monitor that only supports DVI inputs (Samsung SyncMaster BX2335). I bought a cable for the purpose: an HDMI to DVI-D cable. I cannot seem to get the laptop to recognize that there is a monitor attached, however.
Am I going to have to use a port replicator instead or use some sort of USB 3 to DVI setup? I have no other video output options built into this computer.

Oct 2, 2014my brand new lenovo y50 touch. Straight out of the box, everything works beautifully except one major thing: the touch screen doesn't work. I know it is the touch version and settings even calls it "lenovo y50-70 touch" but below that it reads "No pen or touch input available for this display" ...what?? there are also no drivers on lenovo's support page that say anything about touch.

May 24, 2014I use a USB MIDI keyboard (Akai LPK25) with my Ideapad. I've not previously had an issue with this configuration, but since about a week ago, as soon as I plug in the device the touch screen becomes disabled. Removing the device doesn't restore touch screen functionality; I actually have to reboot.
Was there a recent USB upgrade that's causing this issue?

Apr 13, 2013I used my brightness down button once and now it won't go back up. I can't adjust the settings at all, despite the graphic on the screen showing me the meter going up and down. I've checked all drivers, tried uninstalling and reinstalling lenovo energy management, and I've still got nothing. I've stopped short of a factory reset because that's super annoying having set everything up and then a couple weeks after purchase have to do it again.

Oct 29, 2014I'm experiencing a problem with my G500s Touch, i am not touching the screen but it makes a lot of random inputs and appears contextual menu (like right click). It's really annoying, one of these days i'm going to throw this laptop through my apartment's window.
I already opened device manager and deleted all HID interfaces and reinstalled. Reinstalled Elan Drivers (i think maybe it is the problem, elan driver), i used windows restore 3 times and i still have the problem.
A Quick solution for this: Ctrl + Alt + Del, then Escape. And you will not have this problem in the next 1, 3, 5 or 10 minutes.
Lenovo X Series ThinkPad :: Light Not Working On X1 Carbon LCD
Apr 3, 2014I currently have an issue with my original X1 Carbon (2012, 3443-CTU) light not working on the LCD. I attached an external monitor to the laptop and it works without issues so it's not the motherboard. Under the right lighting conditions and angle, i can see very very faintly my desktop background.
This leads me to believe that the screen inverter is damaged, or the lcd. Since my ultrabook isn't under warranty, i believe the best course of action is to find the screen on ebay and replace it. [URL] ....
Is replacing the LCD as easy as it sounds? It looks like i need to remove much of the parts underneath the keyboard panel, and remove the LCD bezel and replace the screen. Is there something i'm missing?

Jan 3, 2012I've got thinkpad W500 and the PrtSc key is not capturing screen I want to copy. It doesn't require the Fn key because it's labeled on top row ("sysrq" is below it on 2nd row on same button key).
-I also tried pressing Fn + prtsc just to see if that would work. Didn't work.
-Then I tried pressing Alt + prtsc... nothing.
-I even tried pressing Ctrl + PrtSc.... nothing.
I've looked all over Forum, no one addresses this, or at least not for the W500 (which is different from the other W510 through W540 series laptops. Or other ways to capture a screenshot?

Lenovo ThinkPad W Series :: W520 Webcam Not Working?
May 3, 2012i recently bought my W520 and everything works just fine - except for the internal webcam.
I installed the drivers (current version) from the Lenovo web site but the webcam won't turn on. The green just wouldn't turn on and when I press Fn+F6 the communication tool shows up without any webcam video. Same thing for skype or any other webcam tool.
Sometimes after booting it works for a few seconds but then the image freezes and it won't start again until after several system restarts.
System Details:
Thinkpad W520 (4276), Core i7-2760QM
Windows 7 64 Bit Professional
