I've got an acer aspire 5672 and I can't get passed my login screen anymore. The keyboard and touchpad do not respond.
I tried in safe mode and there they do.
There was one time where they did respond but then they stopped right after loggin in.
The system seems to keep running though, as the cursor blinks etc, it's just that I cannot do anything.
As it does work in safe mode, it must be a software thing, no?
I recently purchased a new Inspiron 15 7000 (7537) with Windows 8.  I'm getting used to Windows 8, but really struggling with the integrated touchpad.  It's getting so frustrating I'm considering returning it.  The problems are hard to pin down, but in general:
-I often get the right click shortcut menu, when I'm just trying to click. Â I've even changed both the right and left hand buttons to both be "click" (and neither be shortcut menu), but I still get the shortcut menu a lot.
-Sometimes the cursor gets stuck and doesn't respond to movements. Â I've tried adjusting the touch sensitivity and disabled palm detection. Â No change.
My Inspiron 15 r suddenly hangs and doesn't respond (no cursor movement, no keyboard response, nothing works).
I will have to restart the system every time.
Assuming there is a setting to change this. At least I hope so. Synaptics. y510p
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy keyboard has started being erratic and not responding when some keys are pressed. I use the notebook mostly as a docking station, with a larger monitor and separate keyboard, so it's not an issue of the keys being misused or over-used. It's not related (as far as I can determine) to caps lock or any interference with USBs. It happens when I'm booting up as well as when I'm typing in a document and with nothing attached to the computer other than the power cable.

My MacBook Pro is behaving funny after wrestling with my wife. Unfortunately the laptop was on a table side when my wife jumped on me and we were wrestling away.
She got my arm and twisted it behind my back i was desparate to get out of the arm bar and neck choke she was applying on me. In desparation I got out of her dealy UFC choke but as a consequence I kicked the laptop off the table by accident.
The laptop flew a few metres and landed hard on the floor. As you could see, this is no way to treat the laptop. Now my laptop is behaving strangely the mouse doesn't respond as it used to.
Will this be covered under warranty?
Just bought an Aspire ES1-511. Not my first Windows 8.1 laptop, but my first with UEIF firmware.

I've been trying to boot Driveimage from CD to do an offline backup, and guess what, it wouldnt recognise the CD as bootable. Fixed that by setting the boot type to "Legacy" in the BIOS and it boots fine.

My problem is that the mouse doesnt work after booting from the CD. Watching the behaviour of the mouse, it powers up when I press the power button, but powers off immediately the POST completes.

If booting Windows from the HD, power to USB is restored as soon as windows loads to the lock screen.
I have a Dell Latitude E5520 and lately it has been extremely slow, and characters on screen tend to lag far behind my keystrokes occasionally not appearing at all. Sometimes when I click on a button it will lag for several seconds and then go through, other times nothing will happen at all and I will have to click the button again and it works. Recently the laptop was taken on a plane and the in-flight wifi was used, that is the only thing done recently outside of the normal routine.
I have booted into safe mode and the lag still occurs. I have antivirus software installed and up to date.Â
Laptop 3 years old and touchpad slowly stopped responding one night.
Downloaded new driver (ALPS Touchpad v7.1007.115.102. A05) no less than 3 times and had a partial success. Now right half of touchpad is ok but left half can only respond to up/down finger movements.
Run Dell diagnostics and all hardware is ok.
Run a full antiVirus scan and ok. Laptop says new driver is ok and running ok.
Touchpad does not work in BIOS and done a full diagnostic check and said the touchpad is fine!
Use of mouse is ok so not the end of the world!
Back to factory settings?

View 10 Replies View RelatedUnder control panel: mouse properties tab hardware, there is no mouse shown. The same with device manager, there is no mouse listed. Changing mouse settings has no effect. There is still no mouse pointer, even though I can see it move when I hover over icons, I can click, and I can locate the pointer when I press ctrl (radar symbol). As soon as I plug in an external mouse, the mouse point appears, a mouse appears under mouse properties hardware, and I can move the pointer via touch pad also.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Acer Aspire One, which I love, does one thing that drives me NUTS! The touchpad, mainly noticed in games (FPS are the most detectable), doesn't respond while pressing keys... IE, I press "W" to run forward, and the touchpad doesn't work simultaniously... I can run, or look around, but not both at the same time... why is that? No other touchpad in a laptop I've ever used had the limitaion? And, when using an external mouse, the mouse works great, meaning I can move around pressing keys on the keyboard all while looking around. It just gets annoying having to stop, look around, then move, stop, look around, move, etc.
Is this a driver problem or a hardware problem? Even the EEE Pc that I use to have didn't do this, so why the new Acer? Curious, and no idea how to fix it.... Maybe it's even a setting somewhere I'm unaware of...
While I was hoping to use this for games, I have not been able to as the keyboard and touchpad cannot be used at the same time.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer Aspire 5630 and since 2 weeks i'm having problems with the touchpad and the keyboard. I tried reinstalling Windows Vista which didn't work. Then i tried windows 7 and it also has the same problem( also tried new drivers etc) . With an extern keyboard and mouse it is able to use te laptop.
fn+ f7 doenst work. (because de keyboard doenst work )
The strange part is that when i acces the bios, de keyboard works.
My touchpad and keyboard quit working all of a sudden. I tried to reboot and I can't select the safe mode choice cause the arrow keys on the keyboard don't work. Some people suggested that I remove the battery and reboot, and again nothing.

I wonder if there has any solutions or I have to send it back. Also, I found that there has a tape written with "Opened" on the case... I wonder what is that mean... Moreover... why there has a paper lip stuck in the gap on the surface... But the biggest problem is how can I activate the backlit keyboard?
View 1 Replies View Relatedtried to upgrade my Latitude E5510 from 2x2Gb (factury Samsung) to 2x4Gb Corsair CMSO8GX3M2A1333C9. BIOS updated to Rev. A13, latest. Memory is recognized as 8Gb. But booting into Windows7 X64 doesn't work anymore. If I boot from a Lubuntu CD (x86) it runs, naturally only with approx. 4Gb since this is a x86 OS-version. Windows 7 X64 just reboots. If I use Save Mode a reboot occurs when the loading of "ClassPnP.sys" starts. When I put in the old 2x2Gb everything works perfectly. Can't even get into Windows Setup from a clean DVD.

I did a factory restore with the Acer discs and I am left with the same problem. If I access the Bios then the keyboard and touchpad work. The minute |I get to the Windows logon screen they are both dead again, no movement whatsoever.
I have an ACER Aspire 5670. Recently i installed windows vista business.
From the day i installed vista my battery appears to be broken.
Ok let's say battery cells were destroyed (Fedora installed on the same system report that battery may be dammaged)-So it may be destroyed in a couple of hours.
The second weird thing is that it persists not to recognize one device. In the device manager it has a hardware ID: ACPISMCB000
Third weird story. Today my notebook prompted that there was SP1 update available. I installed it (in 3 phases - 2together at shutdown and 1 after restart)
After SP update my keyboard stopped working - same thing with touchpad. I uninstalled SP1, uninstalled synaptics driver and re-installed it - same thing.
In a forum somewhere i read that battery causes these problems. I took battery off and now i am writing this message from my notebook's keybord ... touchpad still dead...
both keyboard and touchpad work perfectly in Fedora 9 and that usb mouse/keyboard work perfect too in Vista.
I recently had to realize that the touchpad is not recognized when booting in tablet mode.
As I noticed the keyboard and touchpad are disabled when the screen is turned around or just tilted out of the latching, is there a way to enable them again - perhaps a BIOS setting or update?
I think it would be in advantage if keyboard and pad stay active when the screen is rotated e.g. if there is not much space to tilt the lid, then the screen-unit could be tilted in the frame for a better viewing angle.
When I am working on my laptop off battery power and I shut the monitor without shutting the pc down, at times it seems like the pc is in sleep mode but will not respond. I have to (I guess you would call it hard start it), reboot it to get it working again. Usually the screen is black when I reopen my laptop. Today, browser was barely visible. What is going on with my pc?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have tried creating a recovery disk using the ‘Acer Empowering Technology’ but every time i click on the “create factory default disc” button, the “Acer eRecovering Management” freezes and i get an error message saying : Acer Empowering Technology Framework launcher has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows is collecting more information about the problem.
Another thing, i know how to unhide the 'PQSERVICE' partition, but i'm wondering if it's possible to create these discs directly from the partition without the need for the faulty 'eRecovery Management'. If yes, how?
I currently have a Acer Aspire V3 Laptop that runs on the most current version of Windows 8. Ran perfectly fine last night without any kind of problems. Went to get on it this morning and the power button won't respond. When it is plugged in, the LED light shows that it's charging, but when I try to turn it on, the power button doesn't respond. Every few presses, the power button lights up for a split second, then turns off. The screen never responds to the power button being on for a split second.

I download the Dell Diagnostic tool and ran it under the "Complete Setting" and everything back as passed.Â
I bought a dell inspiron n5110 laptop just a couple of days back. the problem is I am not able to scroll on the touchpad. it does not even have a mark on it to tell you the area you can use for scrolling. I have tried uninstalling and installing the drivers but its not working.

Then formated and installed Win7 Pro 64bit. i managed to get everything else in working order except i would like to occasionally turn off the touchpad. i use a mouse for games and such and the hot key doesnt work to turn it off. BTW every other hot key does what its intended to do.
