I have a Dell Latitude E6430 and touch pad has not worked since day one I got it but I always have a mouse plugged into the USB so I never used the Touch pad since testing it on day one.
I download the Dell Diagnostic tool and ran it under the "Complete Setting" and everything back as passed.

after switching between user accounts, I can move the cursor around on the screen, but I can't click on anything, not left click or right click
after signing out of the problematic user account and signing back in, the pad works normally
I saw a lot of reports on this problem for linux, but none for windows.
this laptop came with ubuntu installed. I personally installed windows 8.1 64 bit, which is supported, and I installed all the latest drivers.
I got two E6430 - USB 3 does not work with windows 8... (Installed from a new win 8 DVD)...
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Latitude E6430 laptop running windows 7 64-bit. When I try to use it with a docking station, the USB ports on the docking station do not work. When I try to use a USB mouse with it, it only works with one of the USB ports. When I try using my printer (HP laserjet 1320) through the USB ports, it doesn't work (it did previously with a Dell latitude E6430 running windows 7 64-bit).
I've installed the latest BIOS upgrade, updated the USB and intel chipset drivers. How do I get these working?
My dell touch pad doesn't work while typing. Means that if you keep pressing any key on the keyboard except ctrl and alt keys then use the touchpad the cursor doesn't move it doesn't respond. I haven't downloaded any drivers. The problem could be settings which I don't know or drivers.

View 3 Replies View RelatedUnder control panel: mouse properties tab hardware, there is no mouse shown. The same with device manager, there is no mouse listed. Changing mouse settings has no effect. There is still no mouse pointer, even though I can see it move when I hover over icons, I can click, and I can locate the pointer when I press ctrl (radar symbol). As soon as I plug in an external mouse, the mouse point appears, a mouse appears under mouse properties hardware, and I can move the pointer via touch pad also.
View 8 Replies View RelatedOkay...so, a while back, my computer had a problem where the computer would say that it's "plugged in, not charging." I fixed this by getting a new adapter. ([URL]...)
While the charging problem is fixed, whenever I plug my computer in with this adapter, the mouse becomes erratic. I can do basic navigation, then the cursor flips out and flies over what I'm about to click, so aiming for anything is like running on ice. I read a few things online as to what this is, and wound up updating my mouse driver and BIOS, even "releasing flea power" (Either I did it wrong or it didn't work) This has done nothing for this problem. I don't want to have to replace this computer. This is a Dell Inspiron N5110
i just got my z710 the other day. clone the drive (for a rainy day). Then formated and installed Win7 Pro 64bit. i managed to get everything else in working order except i would like to occasionally turn off the touchpad. i use a mouse for games and such and the hot key doesnt work to turn it off. BTW every other hot key does what its intended to do.

View 4 Replies View Relatedtried to upgrade my Latitude E5510 from 2x2Gb (factury Samsung) to 2x4Gb Corsair CMSO8GX3M2A1333C9. BIOS updated to Rev. A13, latest. Memory is recognized as 8Gb. But booting into Windows7 X64 doesn't work anymore. If I boot from a Lubuntu CD (x86) it runs, naturally only with approx. 4Gb since this is a x86 OS-version. Windows 7 X64 just reboots. If I use Save Mode a reboot occurs when the loading of "ClassPnP.sys" starts. When I put in the old 2x2Gb everything works perfectly. Can't even get into Windows Setup from a clean DVD.

I entered device manager >> view by connection type, and I found "Lenovo Pointing Device" with a yellow triangle on it. I uninstalled it and it disappeared forever............. But the problem is still there. It's as if the entire touchpad cable isn't even connected to the motherboard.................

The driver is current
The switch on the side is on.
In device manager all looks fine.
When I try and enable it ... it says enabling but never get enabled.
Tried dleting the driver completely and loding the current... no joy.
I'm planning to purchase a Dell Latitude E6430 in a few days time but I have a couple of things to clarify before I purchase this laptop. The question is, Dell manual correctly says this supports up to 16GB of RAM. However Dell does not provide/ship 16GB of ram with this laptop.
I would purchase aftermarket 16GB of ram to do what I want to do with this laptop. But I'm uncertain which RAM specification I should buy. Should I buy DDR3L (1.35V) or DDR3 (1.5V) SODIMM ?

Attempting to install 1600x900 screen and getting wrong colors and bad resolution. I understand the cable may need replacement.

I am locked out of my BIOS but manage to use the laptop using finger print. I forgot my password and with that problem I am not able to modify anything inside the BIOS. I am afraid to do a reset because I might lose the A08 upgrade.

When talking with the telephone sales agent at Dell, she told me the two adaptors are not compatible, yet both are PA-12, 65W, 19.5v, 3.34A. the only difference, is the old one is 2-pin and the new one is 3-pin. Is she blowing smoke at me?
I also have an off-brand "universal" audo/air/AC adaptor for the old computer that's, 90W, 19v, 2.7A that was listed as compatible with the D630. Are these all compatible with each other?
I have a problem with my Latitude E6430 i7-3720QM upgraded to Windows 8,, Bios A09, 8 core...Fan is constantly running and drying the battery out. Tem range between 60-70C. All tests from Dell webpage passed successfully. Tests from Intel Diagnostic tools passed. However, fun is always running, lap top is warm and battery goes down very quickly, in an hour. Under windows 7 it used to last much longer. I even did a clean install of Windows 8 and the problem persists

Running two Toshiba 32L2300U 32" tv's that have VGA connections. Since the eport only has one VGA connection the other is connected with a DisplayPort to VGA adapter.
I need to work from home on two monitors, not the laptop in a dock with the lid open and one TV screen. (Internet is restored when I open the lid as it's in the dock but only one monitor works.

just moved to BD+ and my Power DVD 7.3 can't handle it anymore and I'm getting really frustrated with trying to get my blu rays to work. Cyberlink is a terrible company probably run by like 3 guys. The customer support is awful and I can't get anything to work anymore. I'm begining to think that getting blu ray on laptops was a bad idea. WHo knew they were going to change things on a month to month basis.
View 13 Replies View RelatedEverything works fine except eSATA. I've tested in in Windows Vista 64bit and Windows 7 64bit. Same thing in both - the computer completely freezes up when it'd usually be detecting the drive after plugging in. I'm plugging in an external HDD that works fine on my other computer.
The other computer's using XP so that could make a difference. I'm more suspecting a Dell hardware or drivers issue though. I'd be interested to know if it's a problem everyone has and Dell will maybe fix it in a year or so. They've already released a BIOS update and I've got that; no change.
I just bought a Dell XPS 15z and the CD eject button doesn't work. (I pressed function key+eject key on the keyboard as instructed in the manual.)
Tried to update my keyboard drivers from the cd provided but there isn't any keyboard drivers in the cd... CD can be ejected by right clicking on the dvd drive and choose "eject".
I bought a Dell Inspiron n5110 but it USB 3.0 is not working for me when i put the mouse or flash-drive in, do i suppose to install a driver to get this work? Any link for a driver? because i was trying to find but didn't work....
View 15 Replies View RelatedI've bene playing a game (tf2) on my laptop, and 3 times now its turned off, just straight up turned off, and so I turned it back on, and then the keyboard didn't work no matter what I did.
So I called dell and they said some sort of static built up in the keyboard, and to take out battery, and wall plug, and hold power for 15 seconds, and then turn comp on. I did that and it restored my keyboard to full use.
But now twice since then my comp has shut down, and I've had to use that technique to restore it...
This laptop is only 2 weeks old, ? Why is it having problems a mere 2 weeks after I got it.
I mean I'm not even typeing fast enough to make a static charge, in game you only use a couple buttons. Also i'm on tile floors, no carpet at all, I use my laptop on a table although it does get hot.
