I have a problem with touchpad, when I slide my finger over it, pointer doesn't move smoothly, it is very laggy. When I connect my mouse, it works fine and smooth. I've tried to find some solutions on here but none of them worked. OS is Windows 8.1.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that sometimes after using the pointing stick for a while that if I let go, the mouse pointer will continue to move in a direction on its own.
It will only last for a few seconds but it is annoying when trying to scroll through documents and such. Is this a touchcheck problem or a driver problem? Or is it hardware?
Since the last hp update my system doesn't run smoothly. And t!!he hp support assistant is also not working . I tried reinstalling hpsa but it didn't work. Then I tried to factory reset the system and it says "problem occurred while resetting",or something similar to that.it also showed that no changes where !made.
My system is:HP Pavilion n211sx (With windows 8.1 already installed) I wanted to factory reset my laptop...
New Aspire E 15 starts up fine but after log in I have only a black screen and a pointer!

View 4 Replies View RelatedRecently started having a problem with the mouse pointer randomly jumping all over the screen. It's gotten so bad that I can't even use the computer at this time because the pointer won't stay in the same place long enough for me to type or select anything. I typically use the laptop in the screen forward configuration so I don't use the touch pad and nothing is touching it. I use the touchscreen about half the time and use an external USB mouse the rest of the time. It makes no difference which method I use or whether the external mouse is connected or not. as my fancy 4-month old laptop is essentially useless at this point.

Both are having issues with the trackpad where it will randomly freeze or the pointer will disappear. At first my mother thought it was just being slow and freezing all the time. I had a look and found that the touch screen worked fine when the mouse froze or disappeared. Now, immediately I assumed it to be a driver issue, so I updated the trackpad driver.
I can't find any info on this and even though I bought the week before christmas ACER are saying my warrenty has run out and I don't have the time to find a scanner to scan my receipt. I am a day or two away from returning this laptop if no solution can be found.
This freezing happens ALOT, to the point my mother is using the 4 year old dusty laptop with missing keys. I assume it's something to do with the touchscreen and the trackpad interfering with one another.
My Vostro 1520 touchpad pointer only moves horizontally. It runs win7/64. I have updated its driver to the latest version.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI own an HP 15 and i recently downloaded a game. when I opened the game and tried to play I was unable to press any button on my keyboard and move my touchpad at the same time. An example is that I was playing a first person shooter and i was unable to walk forward and aim at the same time. The touchpad would not let me aim unless i would stop moving (not pressing the w key.) I figured it was the numlock being enabled but after spending 2 or 3 hours searching on how to turn off the numlock such as using the on screen keyboard and using a combination of fn+ another key and I still have not succeeded in finding out what the problem is.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI’ve just purchased an Acer Aspire E3 112 that came with Windows 8.1 with Bing. I have a good bootable USB stick with 14.04 on it, from which I have installed several times on different machines. Here’s what I did:
Created unallocated space on the HDD within Windows
Booted from the USB
Clicked on "Install"
Chose "Something else" in the next dialog
Created a / partition, a "Home" partition and a Swap area.
Clicked on "Install"
The install went just like any other install that I’ve done over the last few years. When it finished, I clicked on the "Restart" button. The machine restarts, and goes straight into Windows. No sign of the Ubuntu install at all.
If I examine the HDD in Disk management within Windows, there are no formatted partitions in the unallocated space at all. (I’ve tried the same procedure both with Ubuntu 14.04 and Xubuntu 14.10 - both had the same result). Windows 8.1 with Bing is no different at all to “normal” Windows 8.1 ....

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust got a brand new laptop, Dell Inspiron 11 3137, and updated to windows 8.1. The touchpad does not work properly now; gestures/scrolling/pointer not working. I've spent over 16 hours getting windows 8.1 installed and then troubleshooting this issue. I've contacted Dell; updated the driver from Dell, even tried installing the latest driver from Synaptic. I even tried setting the Synaptic app to run under the windows 8 version.
Touchpads have been around a long time. It's the last thing I expect not to work properly.
At this point I am ready to send the laptop back and call it quits on windows.
Under control panel: mouse properties tab hardware, there is no mouse shown. The same with device manager, there is no mouse listed. Changing mouse settings has no effect. There is still no mouse pointer, even though I can see it move when I hover over icons, I can click, and I can locate the pointer when I press ctrl (radar symbol). As soon as I plug in an external mouse, the mouse point appears, a mouse appears under mouse properties hardware, and I can move the pointer via touch pad also.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI get this spiral symbol (see above image) in place of my mouse indicator when I move my fingers a certain way on the ultranav mousepad.
One way it occurs is if I move my finger from left to right or right to left across the bottom of the ultranav mousepad.
It interferes with me being able to move the mouse. I suspect it is to prevent inadvertant movement of the mouse when your finger just brushed the ultranav mousepad. I would like to turn it off if possible.
I've got an acer aspire 5672 and I can't get passed my login screen anymore. The keyboard and touchpad do not respond.
I tried in safe mode and there they do.
There was one time where they did respond but then they stopped right after loggin in.
The system seems to keep running though, as the cursor blinks etc, it's just that I cannot do anything.
As it does work in safe mode, it must be a software thing, no?
I have an Inspiron N5050 which has a couple of issues. First issue is the cursor will move to other parts of the screen (where the mouse is) while in the middle typing. The laptop is setup with both Win 7 & 8 and it happens in both Windows versions. How to correct this or should I chuck this up to typical Dell poor quality control??

View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter I turn on the power, the harddisk led doesn't turn on, just the CAP and NUM led flash once. The screen doesn't turn on, even the Acer logo doesn't appear. I can hear something is turning inside the notebook, but it's definitely not the harddisk.
I wonder if I had pressed some wrong buttons, and disable the notebook.
My 1 year old Acer Aspire 9920 suddenly stopped working yesterday for no particular reason. It seems dead.
When I turn it on, the lights go on as they should but the screen doesn't at all. Then it just does nothing anymore.
I tried using an external monitor, the screen still doesn't turn on.
I also tried starting from a cd but it seems as if the notebook doesn't get into the POST far enough to do so.
I've just purshased a new Acer Aspire E5-771 (IGP, not Nvidia).
When I get into deep sleep, it can wake-up normally. I mean that after pressing power button and booting Windows, it comes back to my opened session.
But wen I get in simple sleep (close the lid or press Alt+F4), it cannot wake up. Let me be precise. Wen it is in simple sleep, the orange LED is blinking. If I open the lid, nothing happens. If I press a keystroke, the LED becomes quickly blue and then switches off (1/10 second). No noise, no image. Nothing else happen. I have to press power button to switch on the computer, but I lose my session and have to boot all of Windows.
It does this from the beginning, even with my updated drivers and with the last 1.15 BIOS.
I just bought a brand new Acer R7-572-6805. When I press power button nothing happens if AC adapter is not plugged in. I would expect laptop to start/boot because the battery inside is brand new and fully charged.
Also, I'm worried that nothing happens when I press for 4-10 seconds a battery-reset button on the bottom of the laptop in a small hole in the middle (I use paperclip).
1. Update BIOS to the newest version 2.04. Note: during flashing new BIOS version the orange LED didn't blink but shined!
2. Tightened all screws on a casing.
3. Replaced a charger.
4. Pressed batter-reset button.
5. Pressed power button for more than 10 seconds while AC adapter was plugged in, was not plugged in and when battery was not plugged in too.
4. Reinserted battery many times.
5. Checked voltage of a battery. Two cells showed 3.11V and the other two cells showed 3.81V. I manually charged the first 2 to 3.78 so that all 4 cells have similar voltage. The proper voltage makes me think that the battery is fully charged.
Other observations:
1. When AC adapter is plugged in then the orange LED is blinking (it seems to indicate that the battery is low) after approximately 6 seconds from pressing power button, i.e. from start. It doesn't change if I go to BIOS or go on with Windows boot.
2. When battery detached then the orange LED does not shine at all.
3. When AC adapter is plugged in then laptop starts.
4. Windows 8.1 is installed. The first time I used the laptop I plugged AC adapter in, powered on the laptop and went on with the installation.
5. Wall AC outlet provide 230V in my country (in contrast to 110V in US, but it shouldn't matter becuase the charger is capable of working in both systems according to its specification).
I'm considering buying a laptop, but when I look at the specifications for the Aspire ES1-111M-C0FQ at [URL], it appears to have no hard disk or SSD.
How does it run Windows 8.1 in only 2GB of memory with no hard disk? How were tyou able to run it without a disk?

My Acer laptop died on me sometime last year, I tried to fix it, had somebody who is more techie than me look at it and we couldn't fix it. He managed to get all the data off but couldn't get it to boot up.
My brother recently had a similar problem with his desktop computer so he told me to put an XP disc in and change the BIOS so it booted from the CD ROM.
I have done this and it wont boot. It doesn't seem to recognise there is a disc in there.
When it loads, the Windows XP screen comes on, then a blue screen flashes up, can't read what it says as it doesn't stay on long enough, then the Acer screen comes up then the screen asking if you want to start up in safe mode etc comes up, if I select start as normal or from last know good configuration, it just keeps looping but if I select safe mode, a huge list of drivers comes up then it turns itself off.
I have tried to do the built in recovery but it doesn't work, just stays on please wait for hours.
