I have a dell inspiron 15r. i am running windows 8. my touchpad when i tap to click it does nothing but moves across the screen. fine. how do i enable tap to click.
View 2 RepliesI have an Inspiron N5050 which has a couple of issues. First issue is the cursor will move to other parts of the screen (where the mouse is) while in the middle typing. The laptop is setup with both Win 7 & 8 and it happens in both Windows versions. How to correct this or should I chuck this up to typical Dell poor quality control??

I think it's working as intended, but the fact that the area over the buttons is also part of the touchpad means that I'm constantly moving the cursor right before I click on something... It there any way to disable the touchpad area over the buttons?

is anyone else having probs with their touchpad? i got this laptop in Feb and now when i click the button on the touchpad i have to press it a couple times before it does anything.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've recently purchases a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 540 and it worked just fine untill earlyer today.While i was browsing the internet, some how my touchpad developed a problem.It only registeres right click where ever i click.I've deleted the drivers, even tho they were the knewest ones, downloaded a fresh .exe and installed it after the reset and what not and it still has the same problem.
If i turn off the touchpad in the ultranav software and enable only trackapad, the buttons work like they should, the large area in the touchpad registeres as the left click and the small area in the top right is registered as the right click. Tho i can't use the touchpad for navigation.So clicking doesn't works, well neither does tapping. I can doubletap normaly, but i cannot tap and drag such as selecting a block of text.
Again, i've already tried a fresh install of ultranav drivers and it didn't work. The problem manifested itself during normal browsing, nothing was installed nor changed hardware vise. It litteraly changed in a second.how to solve it since the driver reinstall didn't work.
To any owners of Dell Inspiron 1525 laptops who participate on this board, are any of you experiencing any unusual problems with your computer's touchpads and also are you experiencing erratic cursor movements on your computers whether your computers are operating off of battery power or on A.C. power? If you are or have in the past and you contacted Dell about it were your issues resolved to your satisfaction and what did Dell do to resolve those issues? I'm considering purchasing an Inspiron 1525 to replace a 2 year old damaged Inspiron 1300 but I'd like to get some feedback from posters on this board who happen to own an Inspiron 1525.
View 10 Replies View RelatedAbout a month ago my touchpad started to act up. I couldn't use the touchpad to click on anything with any consistency. I tried the reinstall of the driver but no change. I bought a new touchpad assembly and it worked perfectly for about a week. Now the pad part works but the scroll feature doesn't. When I install the latest driver from Synaptics the scroll works but the pad is erratic. I've rolled the driver back to the 2006 edition and the pad works perfectly but no scroll. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium.

But one day i plugged my charger for charging laptop and mouse goes mad... it starts moving to and fro of its own without me touching it.i googled the problem but did not found any useful material. i installed the ALPS driver and the only thing i get is i turn of my touchpad when charging and use a usb mouse instead.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have this system running on Win 8.1; The touchpad is possessed. It moves and click on its own half the time. I've upgraded the drivers to the latest 4/01/14 release but to no avail. I've even restored the system but the result is the same.
Steps I've tried which took nearly 50+ hours to do:
1) restore, uninstall dell drivers, update to newest drivers;
2) restore, and update to newest drivers over existing drivers (included in the restore)
3) performed steps 1 & 2 with and without WOW64
I've been having to use the mouse to save me from this, however, the touchpad still takes over and moves the cursor on its own, though less frequent.
My Inspiron 1440 laptop running on Windows 7; I have always had the problem with the cursor jumping all over the place and sometimes it just deleted the whole of document by itself. So frustrated to use. I just found that it's a known problem as it happens to many of the other models. What does Dell Support have to say about this? It takes me forever to type this message as it keeps jumping around wherever the mouse pointer is.

I entered device manager >> view by connection type, and I found "Lenovo Pointing Device" with a yellow triangle on it. I uninstalled it and it disappeared forever............. I recently purchased a new Inspiron 15 7000 (7537) with Windows 8. I'm getting used to Windows 8, but really struggling with the integrated touchpad. It's getting so frustrating I'm considering returning it. The problems are hard to pin down, but in general:
-I often get the right click shortcut menu, when I'm just trying to click. I've even changed both the right and left hand buttons to both be "click" (and neither be shortcut menu), but I still get the shortcut menu a lot.
-Sometimes the cursor gets stuck and doesn't respond to movements. I've tried adjusting the touch sensitivity and disabled palm detection. No change.
I am using dell inspirion n5010 i3. And i am getting problem with its touchpad . Problem is that while using the laptop, touchpad suddenly stops working but right click option continues to work but at the same time usb mouse continues to work and after pressing ctrl+alt+del and doing logout it starts working.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been having problems with this device since the day I bought it. The second day I owned it a bad pixel jumped onto the screen. After pushing it for some time physically on the surface of the screen it dissapears for another day or two.
But my biggest problem is taht sometimes touchpad simply stops responding to any gestures or mouse cursor keeps shaking on my screen. The only ting I can do is turn off the whole touchpad and wait for it to repair itself.
Also it happens that for no apparent reason my notebook behaves like as if I had been pressing CRTL button all the time, while I dont do it at all. Pressing S key alone makes it run into save options. Left clicking on the page makes it open in a new bookmark.
I wish to disable the touch pad on my Inspiron 1545 with Windows 8.. I have a Logitech wireless mouse. Currently both the mouse and the touch pad operate the curser. I want to only use the mouse. In Windows 7 the default was mouse only as soon as the wireless interface was installed. This is not the case with Windows 8.
I've been told to go to the Device driver and select the touch pad under Mouse and other pointers. The touch pad is not listed. I've tried disabling the PC Mouse compatible but the disable button is inactive.
The touchpad on my Inspiron 15z freezes-up a few times a day; the cursor suddenly won't respond and buttons stop working. Restarting the machine usually fixes the problem, until the next time...

View 3 Replies View RelatedI own an HP 15 and i recently downloaded a game. when I opened the game and tried to play I was unable to press any button on my keyboard and move my touchpad at the same time. An example is that I was playing a first person shooter and i was unable to walk forward and aim at the same time. The touchpad would not let me aim unless i would stop moving (not pressing the w key.) I figured it was the numlock being enabled but after spending 2 or 3 hours searching on how to turn off the numlock such as using the on screen keyboard and using a combination of fn+ another key and I still have not succeeded in finding out what the problem is.

I can get into both of those, after that screen disappears it goes to a black screen with a blinking cursor in the upper left hand corner. I have tried various "fixes" that i can find online, from powering it down hitting f12 to try and boot from hard drive, nothing seems to work. I have ran the diagnostics fully and no errors come up, but I can not seem to get it to do anything. F8 does not work for me to try to go to safe mode.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell 1525 laptop which will not boot beyond the Dell logo, I get a black screen with a white cursor. I tried to use the last known good configuration and it started out fine but I got the black screen again. I can't go into the safe mode, it only goes as far as loading the files. I tried booting from the cd to do a repair but that options says there are no problems. I attached an external monitor and I get the same black screen with the white cursor. I am running Vista Home as my operating system.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAs a confirmed trackpoint user, having the mouse built into the trackpad of the T431s is causing me all sort of grief, including sore wrists - but there are two problems I can't seem to diagnose.
1) When clicking the pad for left mouse click, it often does not work until I click it a few times. I notice this more when I disable the trackpad for cursor movement (which I had to do because the cursor moves when I try to click) - but its there even when that is enabled. It comes and goes. I guess there could be some foot trapped in there, but I've only had it a week and been pretty careful. I'd rather not learn to remove the keyboard on day 6.
2) The right click gets into a condition where, when browsing,a click brings up a new tab of the link I clicked on, rather than showing me the options (open in new tab, incognito window, save link, etc). If I connect a real mouse, it is normal.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI get this spiral symbol (see above image) in place of my mouse indicator when I move my fingers a certain way on the ultranav mousepad.
One way it occurs is if I move my finger from left to right or right to left across the bottom of the ultranav mousepad.
It interferes with me being able to move the mouse. I suspect it is to prevent inadvertant movement of the mouse when your finger just brushed the ultranav mousepad. I would like to turn it off if possible.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have had this problem for a while. I used to have Vista installed on my 1420, it had taken me a long time to find a 64bit driver for the ALPS touchpad that featured middle click (when you click both buttons, it registers as a middle click).
Now, I am on Windows 7, all Vista 64 bit drivers for the ALPS work with Windows 7, but I am having trouble finding the driver that I had used with Vista64 that allowed me to use middle click.
I have searched on Dell's driver page and literally installed almost every driver they have for ALPS touchpads. Almost all of them have the ability to use the feature middle click, but they never work. I was wondering if there are any 1420 owners out there that have, or know where one could find a 64 bit driver that allows me to use middle click?
