View 3 RepliesMy Inspiron 15 r suddenly hangs and doesn't respond (no cursor movement, no keyboard response, nothing works).
I will have to restart the system every time.
I have only had this latop 3 months and it is missing keys when I type. It isnt that the laptop is slow and needs to catch up, it just misses letters and I have to keep going back over the text and filling in. It gets very frustrating putting passwords in and letters and numbers miss.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Latitude E5520 and lately it has been extremely slow, and characters on screen tend to lag far behind my keystrokes occasionally not appearing at all. Sometimes when I click on a button it will lag for several seconds and then go through, other times nothing will happen at all and I will have to click the button again and it works. Recently the laptop was taken on a plane and the in-flight wifi was used, that is the only thing done recently outside of the normal routine.
I have booted into safe mode and the lag still occurs. I have antivirus software installed and up to date.
I've got an acer aspire 5672 and I can't get passed my login screen anymore. The keyboard and touchpad do not respond.
I tried in safe mode and there they do.
There was one time where they did respond but then they stopped right after loggin in.
The system seems to keep running though, as the cursor blinks etc, it's just that I cannot do anything.
As it does work in safe mode, it must be a software thing, no?
I am using Lenovo W520 with windoiws 7, RAM 8 GB. It is very slow and when I type something it appears with noteable delay. Also i am using virtal machne windows XP there. How can I get better performance
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy keyboard has started being erratic and not responding when some keys are pressed. I use the notebook mostly as a docking station, with a larger monitor and separate keyboard, so it's not an issue of the keys being misused or over-used. It's not related (as far as I can determine) to caps lock or any interference with USBs. It happens when I'm booting up as well as when I'm typing in a document and with nothing attached to the computer other than the power cable.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm doing a bit of shopping for friends... they're on a tight budget and have basic needs, so I thought the Inspiron 17 would be a good choice.
I was looking at the core i3 model listed at 799$ here.
In all the images we can clearly see an HDMI port on the left side of the laptop, but it is not listed in the Tech Specs section.
I asked a sales rep through chat but he couldnt provide me with convincing evidence that this laptop did/did not have an HDMI port.
My Inspiron 1764 won't boot. It worked fine up until this morning. This morning it stopped booting. I removed and reinstalled the battery and reseated the RAM and hard drive. Then it would boot but would constantly go into sleep mode. Now it will no longer boot at all. When plugged in the battery light stays illuminated and will stay on even after the cord is unplugged. When I press the power button the power button may light for a few seconds and then go out.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy Dell Inspiron 1764 laptop will not boot up after using windows 7 installation disc in repair mode, as it has to restart several times during set up, it would not restart after first phase of operation. It never got to finish operation. Now it is just coming up with a black screen saying,Windows boot manager Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change it might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. insert windows installation disc and restart computer (which it will not let me do)
2. choose your language settings and then click next
3. click repair your computer
if you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance

After start up even pressing F8 before logo disappears numerous times it will not let me into that menu, so I cant access start up in safe mode or last known good configuration. No matter what I do it will not go past the above message on screen. I do have 1 year left on my warranty..Even pressing power button for 30 seconds with power disconnected, or pressing F8 button several times on start up doesn't go into menu at all....
What is the maximum capacity of RAM is on Dell Inspiron 1764?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to upgrade (get larger) external hard drives for my Photography Folders, plus an identical Backup HD...
Can the Dell Inspiron 1764 with Win 7/64 support external HDs over 2TB as one partition?
I am thinking of getting 2/3TB or 2/4TB External HDs (not RAID), to replace what I have now..
When upgrading windows 8 told me to remove the old bluetooth driver... then at some point I also formated and installed windows 8 clean
When I go to instal the driver that worked for win7 64 bit it does not let me do it.. because there is compatibility problems
I wan to use my android phone with my laptop
I have a Dell Inspiron 1764 about a month ago it started having internet problems. I have ruled out the problems being related to the actual internet service. I have excellent wifi signal and yet my laptop constantly connects and disconnects. The length of time varies. Some days I get to be on the net while others I dont at all. I have run diagnostics, downloaded darn near every update imaginable.

My keyboard randomly inserts a double letter as I'm typing. But I do not see a ffix anywhere (just did it again). I've tried changing keyboard settings, downloading updates, etc, etc. This is actually the THIRD HP Envy computer in a row to have this problem.

Keyboard rattles when I type is there something wrong with it?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a T430s and I love it so far, except one negative thing is that it keeps "skipping" around whenever I type. During typing, on random occasions it will skip to wherever the cursor is placed at that moment, often in the middle of a word I had already typed previously. (It has done it 4 times while typing this message) Obviously, this makes it very annoying to have to re-do a word or sentence over and over. I definitely don't type extremely fast and try to be careful with my hand placement, but as a normal sized adult male, can it be possible that the new Chiclet Keyboard makes it easier for my fingers or palm to inadvertantly move or press the touchpad which causes this problem? Or is this a software defect?
This is my second Thinkpad and I've never had this problem before.

The keyboard of my Aspire 5951G-6879 has several keys that have green colored characters - i.e. 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 etc. How do I access those characters when I am typing?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a new Inspiron 15 7000 (7537) with Windows 8. I'm getting used to Windows 8, but really struggling with the integrated touchpad. It's getting so frustrating I'm considering returning it. The problems are hard to pin down, but in general:
-I often get the right click shortcut menu, when I'm just trying to click. I've even changed both the right and left hand buttons to both be "click" (and neither be shortcut menu), but I still get the shortcut menu a lot.
-Sometimes the cursor gets stuck and doesn't respond to movements. I've tried adjusting the touch sensitivity and disabled palm detection. No change.
Laptop 3 years old and touchpad slowly stopped responding one night.
Downloaded new driver (ALPS Touchpad v7.1007.115.102. A05) no less than 3 times and had a partial success. Now right half of touchpad is ok but left half can only respond to up/down finger movements.
Run Dell diagnostics and all hardware is ok.
Run a full antiVirus scan and ok. Laptop says new driver is ok and running ok.
Touchpad does not work in BIOS and done a full diagnostic check and said the touchpad is fine!
Use of mouse is ok so not the end of the world!
Back to factory settings?
The touchpad on my Inspiron 15z freezes-up a few times a day; the cursor suddenly won't respond and buttons stop working. Restarting the machine usually fixes the problem, until the next time...
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have an annoying problem with my keyboard. If I try to type normally fast some letters wont make it to the screen. Its very annoying in the long run. Sometimes it makes me wanna smash it in pieces.
If I punch the keys accurate one by one its no problem, but its a little slow. Can I fix this with software?
