I have a DELL XPSL511z. Why every time I try to type of this computer the mouse jumps everywhere? I have disabled the track pad and it doesn't work. Is there some way to decrease the key sensitivity? This is a HUGE problem with this model.
View 5 RepliesI have an Inspiron 15R SE 7520 and while typing, the cursor frequently jumps around and will begin typing in a previously typed line. This is extremely frustrating. I am running Windows 8 and have looked to find where I can adjust the sensitivity of my touchpad but can't find it anywhere. I've seen other posts for other computers that suggest uninstalling the touchpad driver and reinstalling it. What I should do for my specific laptop to stop this from happening? Do I need to uninstall and reinstall the touchpad driver. If so, how do I do that for the Dell Inspiron 15R SE 7520 running Windows 8? I'm also keeping my hands off the touchpad while typing but the cursor still moves.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis has been happening when typing emails in Outlook. It will be interesting to see if it happens while typing this. So far it's been OK. I have a Dell XPS M1530. There it did it just then, the 1530 jumped into the subject field. It always jumps into somewhere I have already typed. So it doesn't just happen in Outlook. It is very annoying. I am using a Bluetooth mouse, but also there is a touchpad just under my hands. Could it be that I bump it by mistake?
I don't know it that's the problem as the touchpad cursor is different to the typing cursor. I'm watching the touchpad cursor and it's not moving. The typing cursor is behaving itself now. I have just moved the touchpad cursor up the screen a bit and the typing cursor is still behaving itself.
While I am typing my hands are well clear of the touchpad. It just jumped again, and it did not jump to where the touchpad cursor was, so it's not related to that.
From time to time the cursor jumps to another line whilst I am typing. This can happen on any software, ie MS word, Hotmail. It can even happen when I am entering a user name and password into any system, for example this forum.
It is very frustrating and some tiesm a simple email can take a long time to type...

When typing in a document, in wordpad for instance, the cursor (and text entry point) will suddenly jump elsewhere. Typically up a couple of lines. Since it happens while typing, I end up corrupting the document.
Disabling the touch pad does not solve the problem.
I have an Acer Aspire 5733Z Laptop and just recently, my cursor jumps all over the place while I am typing.
View 9 Replies View RelatedRecently started having a problem with the mouse pointer randomly jumping all over the screen. It's gotten so bad that I can't even use the computer at this time because the pointer won't stay in the same place long enough for me to type or select anything. I typically use the laptop in the screen forward configuration so I don't use the touch pad and nothing is touching it. I use the touchscreen about half the time and use an external USB mouse the rest of the time. It makes no difference which method I use or whether the external mouse is connected or not. as my fancy 4-month old laptop is essentially useless at this point.

At first i thought i might have a virus although i have Norton installed. I have done virus scans with Norton and McAfee in both regular and safe modes. No problems found.I have diabled and installed drivers; changed mouse settings; reistalled USB drivers; tried a corded mouse and nomouse other than the touchpad. Nothing works.Lenovo support say they think it is a hardware problem; they sent me a new keyboard. i put the new keyboard in (really easy to do). I've just received my XPS11 and think it's a beautiful machine... however, the one grief (everyones main grief with this unit it seems) is the keyboards sensitivity setting.
By default, when the computer starts, when you open up the Dell Keyboard (F10), the keyboard sensitivity is set to midway.... i constantly need to keep sliding it to lightest setting (makes it almost usable at this point). Where in registry this setting is kept ? or how i can permanently set it to LIGHTEST.

This happens at random. What is causing this. I have tried disabling the mouse pad and using a USB mouse but the problem persists. I have tried being extremely careful not to touch the arrow keys located in the bottom right hand corner of the keyboard area but the problem continues

I installed touchfreeze and unchecked "Hide Pointer While Typing" and neither worked. I also reviewed a suggestion to turn off "Touchpad" or something like that, and I can't even find this in my system.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am finding that the space key sensitivity on my new Y510P is not consistant, and that I have to really press down on the key for it to work, and despite this it does not always work. I have to go back then and correct where the spaces where not added. I tend to use the space bar with my right thumb clicking on the right 1/3 side of the space bar. When I use other keyboards including other Lenovo laptop products and this has not been a problem.

It isnt that the laptop is slow and needs to catch up, it just misses letters and I have to keep going back over the text and filling in. It gets very frustrating putting passwords in and letters and numbers miss.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a T430s and I love it so far, except one negative thing is that it keeps "skipping" around whenever I type. During typing, on random occasions it will skip to wherever the cursor is placed at that moment, often in the middle of a word I had already typed previously. (It has done it 4 times while typing this message) Obviously, this makes it very annoying to have to re-do a word or sentence over and over. I definitely don't type extremely fast and try to be careful with my hand placement, but as a normal sized adult male, can it be possible that the new Chiclet Keyboard makes it easier for my fingers or palm to inadvertantly move or press the touchpad which causes this problem? Or is this a software defect?
This is my second Thinkpad and I've never had this problem before.

How could i get my laptop to work again? I mean keyboard and mouse. Everything starts up right just that the keyboard wont connect because of the bluettoth driver download.
I bought the laptop 3 years ago (the warranty was expired). After receiving the laptop, a few months after, the eject button stopped working. I had to right click the CD/DVD drive icon in Windows and choose "Eject". At that time, I thought the problem was not a big issue. I don't often use my laptop.
The problem started a month ago, I got a blue screen of death in Windows 7...Dec 30th, I decided to upgrade to Windows 8.1. I have gone to the Dell support page to update all my drivers (including the BIOS). However, the eject button is still not working.
I had a black screen in Windows 8.1. The Error message was:
Windows Boot Manager : File: BootBcd
Status: 0xc00000e9 Info: An unexpected i/o error has occured. If you continue to receive this error message, contact the hardware manufacturer.
When I turn my laptop on, there is a black window and it keeps trying to access to the CD/DVD drive. Unfortunately, I can't get to the Bios in order to change the setting.
There are SSD compatible with the XPS 15z? I refer to the XPS with Intel i5 processor(2.30 GHz). If yes, what do you recommend?
View 16 Replies View RelatedI've got a Dell Inspiron 1420 with XP, bought in Malaysia almost 5 years ago. It was working fine till a month ago when the keyboard and touchpad started malfunctioning. I used an external keyboard and mouse to over ride the problem but from time to time, it acts as if a button on the built in keyboard is being pressed (for instance ctrl on the laptop is being held down so when I type the letter "f" on the external keyboard, I end up opening the Search tool). I don't know the internal mechanism of this laptop, but is there a way I could disable the laptop's keyboard and touchpad, and continue functioning only through the USB external keyboard and mouse? I tried uninstalling the drivers.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a problem on my xps M1530, that sometimes when i am typing the mouse pointer automatically moves backwards or opens another window that ihave minimised, even though i am not touching the mouse pad.
it's really annoying as sometimes I don't realise it happens and it ruins what i was doing.
It seems to automatically move the text to where the mouse is pointing on the screen if you know what i mean. So i think somehow the mouse automatically positions and clicks itself. any ideas?

I have never used a laptop before (I prefer to work on a server machine) but am considering one at present.I'm looking at a Vostro 3500 but that could change.
1) Can I use a standard USB keyboard and mouse with such a laptop? (No need for special devices!)
2) Are there any problems with PS-2 to USB adaptors connecting keyboard and mouse to a USB port? (Yes I have a few keyboards and mice in storage!)
3) Can I install a standard out of the box version of Windows 7 Ultimate (already licensed) on the Vostro 3500?
4) I saw reference somewhere to touch screen control in Win 7 coming sometime. What are the release plans for such capabilities in Dell laptops?
I am not able to wake up my new laptop from sleep via USB mouse or keyboard. I would like to be able to do that because I usually keep my laptop lid closed, so the power button is not immediately accessible. I've searched the forums here and found similar issues with other models, and at least with the Inspiron 17R the problem was recently resolved with a BIOS update. I had no issues when using the same USB mouse and keyboard on an old XPS 8000.
Now for the details:

From what I've been able to find online, I should be able to enable "Allow this device to wake the computer" in the Power Management tab of various devices in Device Manager, especially the USB Root Hub devices, and possibly the Logitech USB and Microsoft keyboard devices. I assume if I can get that enabled, things might work as expected.
