View 9 RepliesI have an issue with the keyboard on my new 15z. The cursor seems to have a mind of its own and jumps all over the place while I am composing emails and letters. This happens at random. What is causing this. I have tried disabling the mouse pad and using a USB mouse but the problem persists. I have tried being extremely careful not to touch the arrow keys located in the bottom right hand corner of the keyboard area but the problem continues

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an Inspiron 15R SE 7520 and while typing, the cursor frequently jumps around and will begin typing in a previously typed line. This is extremely frustrating. I am running Windows 8 and have looked to find where I can adjust the sensitivity of my touchpad but can't find it anywhere. I've seen other posts for other computers that suggest uninstalling the touchpad driver and reinstalling it. What I should do for my specific laptop to stop this from happening? Do I need to uninstall and reinstall the touchpad driver. If so, how do I do that for the Dell Inspiron 15R SE 7520 running Windows 8? I'm also keeping my hands off the touchpad while typing but the cursor still moves.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis has been happening when typing emails in Outlook. It will be interesting to see if it happens while typing this. So far it's been OK. I have a Dell XPS M1530. There it did it just then, the 1530 jumped into the subject field. It always jumps into somewhere I have already typed. So it doesn't just happen in Outlook. It is very annoying. I am using a Bluetooth mouse, but also there is a touchpad just under my hands. Could it be that I bump it by mistake?
I don't know it that's the problem as the touchpad cursor is different to the typing cursor. I'm watching the touchpad cursor and it's not moving. The typing cursor is behaving itself now. I have just moved the touchpad cursor up the screen a bit and the typing cursor is still behaving itself.
While I am typing my hands are well clear of the touchpad. It just jumped again, and it did not jump to where the touchpad cursor was, so it's not related to that.
When typing in a document, in wordpad for instance, the cursor (and text entry point) will suddenly jump elsewhere. Typically up a couple of lines. Since it happens while typing, I end up corrupting the document.
Disabling the touch pad does not solve the problem.
From time to time the cursor jumps to another line whilst I am typing. This can happen on any software, ie MS word, Hotmail. It can even happen when I am entering a user name and password into any system, for example this forum.
It is very frustrating and some tiesm a simple email can take a long time to type...

I have a DELL XPSL511z. Why every time I try to type of this computer the mouse jumps everywhere? I have disabled the track pad and it doesn't work. Is there some way to decrease the key sensitivity? This is a HUGE problem with this model.

At first i thought i might have a virus although i have Norton installed. I have done virus scans with Norton and McAfee in both regular and safe modes. No problems found.I have diabled and installed drivers; changed mouse settings; reistalled USB drivers; tried a corded mouse and nomouse other than the touchpad. Nothing works.Lenovo support say they think it is a hardware problem; they sent me a new keyboard. i put the new keyboard in (really easy to do). No difference.Lenovo want me to return my machine for evaluation but i use it every day..I make mony on my computer and cannot affort to lose it for the minimum 4 days max 10 days they want it for service. If i cannot work for 4 days I might as well go and buy another computer and throw this one in the bin!

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Inspiron 1440 laptop running on Windows 7; I have always had the problem with the cursor jumping all over the place and sometimes it just deleted the whole of document by itself. So frustrated to use. I just found that it's a known problem as it happens to many of the other models. What does Dell Support have to say about this? It takes me forever to type this message as it keeps jumping around wherever the mouse pointer is.

It's causing my laptop to lockup and go slow.
This just started today and came out of nowhere, I've never had an issue before.
Here's the list of recent changes and/or updates I've made. But they were 3 days ago: Norton Security SuiteJava 7 update 71Acer System Information I can't seem to find anything about this.
I have a Dell XPS M1730 with 4GB Ram, 1TB in HD space. It is loaded with Windows 8.It works great except for one little thing. When I start typing I have to watch where the mouse is. If it is in the middle of the text I am typing, it will go there in the middle of me typing. This becomes very annoying.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have in inspiron 4100 for about 14 months. I have noticed that while typing, the cursor my move back to a different position in the line, move to a previous line, or jump to another text box altogether. It drives me crazy that when I type, I never know if there is some combination of keys or if I accidently touch something to make the cursor change position.
Is there by default some combination of keys that cause cursor movement. It has happened 4 times while typing this message.
Can this be turned off?
I have a g62 laptop with an external mouse and the cursor jumps all around when I am typing . I installed touchfreeze and unchecked "Hide Pointer While Typing" and neither worked. I also reviewed a suggestion to turn off "Touchpad" or something like that, and I can't even find this in my system.
View 1 Replies View RelatedDell xps 15z ... I have an issue that the cursor disappears every few seconds whilst typing
To clarify it is the cursor and not the mouse pointer. When you click the mouse the cursor reappears in the right location so its not being moved by trackpad etc.
It appears that the tab/window open become de-active and the cursor disappears.
I have a dell inspiron N7110 laptop with windows 7 and my cursor keeps jumping back while I am typing. I have unchecked the enhance pointer precision box.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI own a Dell Precision M4800 Workstation running Windows 8.1 64-bit and the problem is that when I type text, no matter where (address bar, Office, iTunes, etc), and go to move my cursor immediately after, it takes about 3-4 seconds of me swiping on the touchpad to get it to move.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI teach online and my new Dell laptop Inspiron 15 3520 is useless. I cannot use it in online chat with students because now the cursor is moving to other lines of text and inserting my typing. I uninstalled the touchpad driver as that seems to be something recommended here. I tried to reinstall from the Dell website and it failed. So now I not only have an awful computer but a useless one. I'm regretting the Dell decision after just a week.

At first, the cursor works well. However, after 2 months usage, the cursor suddenly starts to runaway when I am typing in Microsoft word.
Recently started having a problem with the mouse pointer randomly jumping all over the screen. It's gotten so bad that I can't even use the computer at this time because the pointer won't stay in the same place long enough for me to type or select anything. I typically use the laptop in the screen forward configuration so I don't use the touch pad and nothing is touching it. I use the touchscreen about half the time and use an external USB mouse the rest of the time. It makes no difference which method I use or whether the external mouse is connected or not. as my fancy 4-month old laptop is essentially useless at this point.

View 2 Replies View RelatedLately I have been having problems with the touchpad this week, started with freezing sometimes, which I typed in google to see another have this problem and to switch setting of touchpad to no delays, which worked as freezing hasn't happened at all anymore at the moment....and later in week, having some difficulty when typing when I click to type in a certain place but then the blinker moves elsewhere, problems with copying and pasting sometimes, as when I copy to highlight upwards, the page did not come up immediately when I slowly moved the mouse up as you do, but when it finally went up, it highlighted the entire document. Doesn't happen all the time....
