My acer ASPIRE 5733z laptop is not showing DVD Drive in My Computer. I have tried with registry key settings, but no positive result. Even the Drive is not showing in Device Manager! I have windows 7 64 bit OS.

I also had a clean install of windows 7 as I was uncertain whether my discs I created would be ok.
I therefore have not got all of the freebies that were installed on the laptop as new. I now find that the dvd drive is not showing in my computer and nothing happens when I insert disc.

This happened a couple of days ago and I did a system restore to the previous restore point. I have also not got the egis safe - how to get this back ....

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new Acer E5 571 with Windows 8.1 The laptop paired to my bluetooth speaker quickly and with no problem.
However the next time I turned on my laptop it showed as bluetooth device paired when it wasn't. iTunes only played through the laptop speaker and I have to disconnect and re-pair the bluetooth and deactivate the laptop speaker to get iTunes to play through bluetooth every time.
Is this a recognised fault or some incompatibility between my laptop and LG bluetooth soundbar?

It's causing my laptop to lockup and go slow.
This just started today and came out of nowhere, I've never had an issue before.

My old Aspire 1690WLMi runs Windows 7, but can`t run Aero cause it has an integrated graphics card. Hard drive space is super tight since it`s only 80gb. Thinking of getting a new laptop around $1000, but also considering just getting a new 320gb hard drive for $100. What do you think i should do - new laptop or new hard drive.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI was replacing y HDD in the laptop with SDD. The laptop is acer 4830TG, it had 512GB HDD WD. Replacing it with Kingston SSD 480GB.
The SSD is not detected at startup of the laptop, while it is detected on another machine, I also tried another SSD on the acer and it was detected (the other SSD is 120GB). Is this a sort of compatibility issue ?
Do Vaio Z Series laptop owners use their laptop as their main primary computer or a secondary computer? Do Vaio Z series owners also have a desktop pc as their primary computer and use their Vaio Z Series as a secondary computer? Or is your Vaio Z Series laptop your one and only computer that you always use? Is it comfortable using the 13 inch screen for long periods of time?
Reason i ask is some people have more then one computer and some people just have one.
I'm just wondering if the Vaio Z Series laptop is a good choice as a main computer since it's got good specs and it's nicely portable but will the 13 inch screen be ok to use for long periods even at the higher 1600 x 900 resolution?

All of a sudden my bluray drive is missing from my computer and every other programs. What is the problem and how can i fix it? I can open the tray n put a dvd inside. It even spins but nothing comes in screen.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI currently have an Acer Extensa 5620z-4801. About a month ago, I started using my laptop to burn DVDs. The DVD burner worked just fine for the first 2 DVDs. I used Ashampoo. After those 2 DVDs, it stopped working. I checked on My Computer, and the DVD drive wasn't there. At first I thought it was just temporary, so I restarted my laptop. But then after that, it's still not there, and I freaked out. I checked my device manager to find it, but it vanished from device manager also. I tried to google to find a solution, but doesn't help. I tried that regedit method, but I couldn't find neither upperfilter nor the lowerfilter or whatsoever. I tried removing prime and secondary IDE and reinstall, but doesn't help.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently brought a Aspire E5-411, in Thailand, with a Linpus Linux OS. I installed my prefered OS Win7 x64. I managed to locate and install the hardware drivers. The strange thing is there is no bluetooth device showing in device manager. Is it because
(a) there is no b/tooth adapter on this model,
(b) the adapter is faulty,
(c) I need to install a driver to activate, or
(d) other?
I connected a dvd drive to my laptop using, a sata to esata cable. my laptop has a ESATA port.
I don't know if you should post some kind of config summary (if yes let me know, I will do it promptly) basically I have a HP DV6t quad edition with an Intel 5 serie chipset,
PM55 express chipset (dont really know if it make any sense but still, I will just say state it) so I installed Intel Matrix Storage and when I connect the drive I can see it, but windows 7 does not see it, it's like I didn't plug anything in. [url] also my bios is almost configurable, I don't know why I can change the time, the date, the admin password, the boot order, virtualization, fan on/off that's pretty much it. so what options do I have if I want to make this dvd drive work?
I am about to re-install Windows on my friend's laptop, an Aspire 4520.
I am not super familiar with laptops, however I have noted that at the top
of his desktop, there is an utility program, a toolbar that I think is called Empowering Technology. My friend uses it mainly to check his battery charge
level, although there are a few other tools in this bar, like "acer eData Security Management".
The problem is, if I reinstall Windows, all programs on the Windows partition will be erased. That included this program/toolbar. And I don't know where to get back it back...like where to download a new one for installation.
My battery indicator seems to be showing incorrect readings. When I get to about 16% battery, it will drop to 5%. It will not even show the battery critical warning, it just goes to 5%.
I already tried reinstalling windows to factory, same issue. Also installed Linux to see if it was a specific problem with Windows, same issue.
I ran powercfg to see what was going on and see this for my battery;

Also, I found that if I overcharge (leave it plugged in after fully-charged light comes on) then this problem disappears for that discharge cycle, but will return if I don't overcharge it for the next cycle. It seems to think it's fully charged too early when it's actually not!
Honestly, I'm hoping there is a way to fix this without having to replace the battery, since it's not removeable for this model so I would have to send it in for warranty replacement. This laptop is only about 6 months old.
My Acer Aspire V3 laptop (with Windows 8) stopped working and I tried to reset it but it fails after around 50% operation. I tried both reset and refresh options both not working. I dont have a recovery disc. I created one in another laptop(Toshiba)running Windows 8. Now I want to boot from the recovery media but it is not doing it. I tried to press F2 key on the start to get the bios screen but it is not showing and showing the Automatic repair screen with Advanced options.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFlashing the bios. I have a Aspire 5810TZ. I boot it up and it just says 'acer' and won't go any further. I went to the download page for BIOS on us.acer.com and it has a zip file with 5 files:

What do I do? I have tried copying the files to a USB and powering on with Fn-Esc held down. After letting go of the power button and holding Fn-Esc a different screen appears after 30 seconds. I let go and have given it 30 minutes but it is not doing anything. I have read online from other people the power button should be blinking. Do I need to rename one of the files.
I have a new aspire E1-572G that won't shutdown completely over an update to windows 8.1 ... I've Updated the Bios and downloaded the drivers from the support site.
I've done a recovery to default factory settings and tried again......no luck
I installed windows 8.1 after i installed al windows updates.
