View 1 RepliesI was using my inspiron 1545 the other night and it was charging the battery, then i heard a pop from the left hand side of the keyboard. At this point i noticed that the battery icon no longer had the plug icon on top showing it was charging. I then looked at my power adapter and noticed the blue light was not on on the brick.
Finding this I unplugged the brick and then plugged it back in..POP from the laptop again....and the blue light on the brick went off again. This happens everytime.
So I am guessing there is something wrong in the laptop and the brick turns off maybe activating its short circuit mode protect. Obviously, this means I can not charge the battery.
If i remove the battery and try to run it on mains adapter it POPs as soon as you plug it in and the laptop won;t boot as it has no power...
Unable to hear sound once format the notebook .....

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a dv7-7270ca notebook and since a restart due to windows 8 updates I now have a red x on the speaker icon. I installed the HP driver for this model but it has an error in device manager that says:
Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)
I did run an audio test using the shut down-F2 and passed and could hear the sounds in the test.
Updated the bios in a Aspire 7740g from version 1.15 to 1.16 but with poor result. It flashed everything correctly, but when rebooting, nothing... Black screen.
The fan starts and stops after a few seconds, led's indicating that it's "alive", and I've tried the crisis recovery tool with bios 1.15 or 1.16. First with USB-drive (tried all ports), then on a CD-R. No sign of activity on the USB, but the CD-R spins up, head reading and can hear it working for 30-60 sec., rebooting, but then - nothing.
I have tried all key-commands, suggested on the net. Win+ESC, Win+B, Fn+ESC, Fn+B, but - nothing. (Power off, plug and battery removed, hold keys down, power connected and power on.....)
The battery is dead and removed, but it doesn't seem as it matters anyway?
What kind of bios does this Aspire have? Any other key-commands I should try? It seems as the Recovery Boot Block is there somehow, as the CD/DVD-drive spins up and sounds as it's working.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a brand new Acer Aspire V3-572G. Its been a bit of a lemon so far, but I will give it the benefit of the doubt for just a while longer as I'm not particularly tech-savvy so perhaps the problem is me. Yesterday the volume icon (on the bar at the bottom of the screen) stopped working altogether. I can press it with the curser and it changes colour in the way it should when you click on something ... BUT nothing comes up ... no sound/volume control thing that I can adjust. I know I can use the Function key and arrows, but that is just fiddly, and for a brand new computer, I expect things to work.

I am using Microsoft Autoroute for navigation and the turn by turn is so quiet that I have to plug in an external speaker. In the Text to Talk settings the default voice - Anna - is loud enough reading the sample text, but from the software is v quiet. Windows sounds are also quiet.System is Win 7 Starter and I have installed the latest Realtek audio drivers from the Acer website.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had to reinstall windows from eRovery on my Acer Aspire 5734Z. It worked but now when I click on the explorer icon, the window opens but nothing - and I mean NOTHING - happens. I can't even close it after waiting and waiting for it to open any page at all! I am connected to our wifi - it tells me the connection is strong. Just nothing comes up! I have tried restarting, waiting awhile before opening the internet, but still blank.

I've also checked sound setting they are perfectly fine.
I receive the below message when I turn on the Acer Aspire One after seeing the Acer logo.

No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key
I recently brought a Aspire E5-411, in Thailand, with a Linpus Linux OS. I installed my prefered OS Win7 x64. I managed to locate and install the hardware drivers. The strange thing is there is no bluetooth device showing in device manager. Is it because
(a) there is no b/tooth adapter on this model,
(b) the adapter is faulty,
(c) I need to install a driver to activate, or
(d) other?
I have had to have a new hard drive installed as I got a error message saying old drive failing.
I also had a clean install of windows 7 as I was uncertain whether my discs I created would be ok.
I therefore have not got all of the freebies that were installed on the laptop as new. I now find that the dvd drive is not showing in my computer and nothing happens when I insert disc.

This happened a couple of days ago and I did a system restore to the previous restore point. I have also not got the egis safe - how to get this back ....
My battery indicator seems to be showing incorrect readings. When I get to about 16% battery, it will drop to 5%. It will not even show the battery critical warning, it just goes to 5%.
I already tried reinstalling windows to factory, same issue. Also installed Linux to see if it was a specific problem with Windows, same issue.
I ran powercfg to see what was going on and see this for my battery;
Battery ID17266SANYOAP13B3KManufacturerSANYOSerial Number17266ChemistryLIONLong Term1Sealed0Design Capacity53400Last Full Charge55455
For some reason, it is showing a full charge of more than design capacity. Could this be why it incorrectly thinks it has more battery, and then quickly readjusts to 5%? I tried recalibrating (three times) the battery by completely draining and then completely charging and have the same problem
Also, I found that if I overcharge (leave it plugged in after fully-charged light comes on) then this problem disappears for that discharge cycle, but will return if I don't overcharge it for the next cycle. It seems to think it's fully charged too early when it's actually not!
Honestly, I'm hoping there is a way to fix this without having to replace the battery, since it's not removeable for this model so I would have to send it in for warranty replacement. This laptop is only about 6 months old.
My Acer Aspire V3 laptop (with Windows 8) stopped working and I tried to reset it but it fails after around 50% operation. I tried both reset and refresh options both not working. I dont have a recovery disc. I created one in another laptop(Toshiba)running Windows 8. Now I want to boot from the recovery media but it is not doing it. I tried to press F2 key on the start to get the bios screen but it is not showing and showing the Automatic repair screen with Advanced options.

My battery has not held more than about a 45-second charge since 2009; however, the AC adaptor seems to work fine, and the Power Management icon always tells me that I have a full (i.e., about 45-second) charge and that the AC adaptor is plugged in. Today, just after I disabled the Acer Tour Reminder, CyberLink PlayMovie, and Microsoft Office OneNote (because I never use them and I wanted a faster startup), I moved some program icons that I didn't need or that were already on my Quick Launch tool bar into the Recycle Bin. Suddenly, the notebook make sort of an electronic squeaking sound and immediately shut down--black screen; no lights.
I unplugged it, checked to ensure the battery was properly seated, felt to make sure it did not feel hot anywhere, plugged it in, saw that the lights were showing on the adaptor and on the front left edge of the notebook, turned it on, and selected normal start; it started up again. It ran for at least three minutes (which, because of the battery, it would not unless the AC adaptor was functioning) and then, after I moved a few more icons to the Recycle Bin, it suddenly shut down again in the same manner.
I started it again and it has now been running long enough for me to look up my Acer Forum registration information and update it after resetting my password. I am writing this on another notebook. The Acer is still running, but I want to ensure it doesn't shut down on me when I am in the middle of a project.
I just bought a new Acer E5 571 with Windows 8.1 The laptop paired to my bluetooth speaker quickly and with no problem.
However the next time I turned on my laptop it showed as bluetooth device paired when it wasn't. iTunes only played through the laptop speaker and I have to disconnect and re-pair the bluetooth and deactivate the laptop speaker to get iTunes to play through bluetooth every time.
Is this a recognised fault or some incompatibility between my laptop and LG bluetooth soundbar?
Flashing the bios. I have a Aspire 5810TZ. I boot it up and it just says 'acer' and won't go any further. I went to the download page for BIOS on us.acer.com and it has a zip file with 5 files:
JM4151135.exe FLA... GPC_V135.bin readme.txt FLASH.BAT
What do I do? I have tried copying the files to a USB and powering on with Fn-Esc held down. After letting go of the power button and holding Fn-Esc a different screen appears after 30 seconds. I let go and have given it 30 minutes but it is not doing anything. I have read online from other people the power button should be blinking. Do I need to rename one of the files.
My acer ASPIRE 5733z laptop is not showing DVD Drive in My Computer. I have tried with registry key settings, but no positive result. Even the Drive is not showing in Device Manager! I have windows 7 64 bit OS.
