HP Envy 360 :: Keyboard Repeating Letters Randomly When Typing
Jan 30, 2015
My keyboard randomly inserts a double letter as I'm typing. But I do not see a ffix anywhere (just did it again). I've tried changing keyboard settings, downloading updates, etc, etc. This is actually the THIRD HP Envy computer in a row to have this problem.
I have only had this latop 3 months and it is missing keys when I type. It isnt that the laptop is slow and needs to catch up, it just misses letters and I have to keep going back over the text and filling in. It gets very frustrating putting passwords in and letters and numbers miss.
I just bought the Envy 2x 13 Detachable a few weeks ago. I've had issues with the keyboard from day one.
Keys will randomly repeat themselves which makes typing anything, especially passwords, a nightmare. I've corrected that last sentence about 6 times for duplicate characters.
The following sentence will be typed with no corrections:
This keyboard liikes to dupplicate letters inn a totally randoom fashion and I never knnow when it will happpen it just does it.
I saw a thread where BIOS Rev F.08 solved these issues. I have Rev F.06. When I try to install that BIOS I get a message that there was a BIOS read error and it closes.
This is getting VERY frustrating. I've tried adjusting the repeat rate in control panel with NO effect.
I cleaned my xps 13 ultrabook last week with foamclene. I didn't spray it directly on to my keyboard but must have had too much on the cloth. Anyway my fn key is now typing letters from the middle row of kes, in varying combinations - jfsda, jfsd, jfs, jfa, jfk. When I noticed, I left the machine upside down to dry out for a few days but nothing changed.
all newbie nik here would love a bit of help with this please when i type certain letters on my dell vostro llaptopthey dont work nothing happens the cursor keeps flashing in the same place .....
I've browsed the discussions and have seen problems similar to, but not exactly the same as, my problem, hence the new thread.
Problem: I have a brand new Inspiron 1545 from Dell online. When I type text in Internet Explorer (e.g. webmail applications or this forum), even at a relatively slow speed, many of the keys don't seem to register --
that is, letters or spaces whose keys I press do not show up on the screen. As a result, I must type verrry slowly to make sure that every letter/space shows up, or else go back to re-type it. Strangely, I do not have this problem when typing text in, say, Notepad .....
I regularly find that, with a single keystroke, my brand new Dell Latitude e5540 laptop randommly produces 2 spaces (most often) and double letters (sommewhat less often than the doubled spaces, but consistently and predictably). The faster I type, the more oftenn the errors occur... I have found it to be an issue of how hard I strike the keys. The keys controlled by my dominant right hand are most often affected whereas those controlled by my pinkie fingers NEVER have been affected.
I amm only one of many employees at my place of work who all are experiencing the same problemm. I have asked repeatedly for Dell to let me know the extent of this problem and whether they have a recall of this model (which, as far as I can tell, is pervasive with this particular mmodel). My persistent questions have never been answered by Dell, despite numerous contacts with 3 different agents.
P.S. If you notice double letters where there should be single letters or extra spaces in this e-mail and this post scrippt, please read on for the reasonn: I am using the brand new Dell Latitude e5540 computer our school system recently purchased to write this e-mail. I have simmply givven up editing my typing... you're getting the spontaneous errors caused by this computer so you can see for yourself and hopefully to motivate Dell to fix the problemm soonner, rather than latter.
IMPORTANTLY, if you are having similar problems with YOUR BRAND NEW Dell Latitude e5540 laptop you specifically will NOT have tthese problems if you use an external keyboard... it only occurs with the laptop's built in keyboard) PLEASE send me your servvice tag (S/N) nummber from the bottom of your Delll LLatitude e5540 computer and I will include your commputer in my conntact with Delll about this problem. (It is a problemm of this particular model... I have never experiennced this before with any other computer).
I've had my DV7T CTO for less then one month and the keyboard letters (on each key) are already starting to fade/rub off. This is insane! I suppose I'm going to have to do without a computer now to send this in to get it replaced instead of HP just sending me a replacement keyboard... Why do they insist on everything being sent into them? A keyboard replacement takes all of 5 minutes to do.
My keyboardd generates double letters (I'm leaving them in as I type to show what II mean). I've searched this forum for similar probleems and have already done the following:
Updated BIOS Installed/uupdated toouchpad ddriver and input ddriver Installed touchfreeeze Unchecked the keyboard driver in device manager andd restarted the computer
My qwerty keyboard is not doing or missing many of the letters in upper case - just lower case, and the letter 'L' seems to have given up completely - it will not type neither lowercase or upper case. This problem exists in what seems to be all applications.
I have an issue with the keyboard on my new 15z. The cursor seems to have a mind of its own and jumps all over the place while I am composing emails and letters. This happens at random. What is causing this. I have tried disabling the mouse pad and using a USB mouse but the problem persists. I have tried being extremely careful not to touch the arrow keys located in the bottom right hand corner of the keyboard area but the problem continues
My netbook Lenovo Ideapad S110 keyboard alway types uppercase letters, even if the caplock key are turning on or off. I must press Shift+Fn before press any letter key for lower-case letter. x it!
if anyone is having issues with the sony vaio Sr 2X and getting double typing? when i type im getting two or three characters for some keys generally if i type a word like "hello", i will get 3 l's, really annoying.. seems to happen any time i type in double characters.
I have a T430s and I love it so far, except one negative thing is that it keeps "skipping" around whenever I type. During typing, on random occasions it will skip to wherever the cursor is placed at that moment, often in the middle of a word I had already typed previously. (It has done it 4 times while typing this message) Obviously, this makes it very annoying to have to re-do a word or sentence over and over. I definitely don't type extremely fast and try to be careful with my hand placement, but as a normal sized adult male, can it be possible that the new Chiclet Keyboard makes it easier for my fingers or palm to inadvertantly move or press the touchpad which causes this problem? Or is this a software defect?
This is my second Thinkpad and I've never had this problem before.
I have a DELL XPSL511z. Why every time I try to type of this computer the mouse jumps everywhere? I have disabled the track pad and it doesn't work. Is there some way to decrease the key sensitivity? This is a HUGE problem with this model.
The keyboard of my Aspire 5951G-6879 has several keys that have green colored characters - i.e. 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 etc. How do I access those characters when I am typing?
I'm having two issues which may or may not be related. My display adapter keeps resetting itself. Sometimes it works and I can continue working.other times I get a screen full of vertical lines and have to reboot. The computer will also not bout or run on battery power. If it's on and I unplug the a.c. adapter it well shut off. How to solve my envy dv7 issues? It's windows 8 that I'm currently running after doing a complete restore yesterday in the hope that if would solve the problem. If didn't.
I am stuck with a dell E5440 here power light comes on and then laptop switches off and back on again and just repeat itself! I did not tried anything yet. It is i5 vpro and I installed 1TB HDD few months ago, it has been working no problem since yesterday.
We have a problem of keyboard with many Dell Latitude e3540 . Some keys randomly stop responding . We have updated the firmware to version A08 but unable to fix it. Also reinstall the driver keyboard controller with the same result .
The only thing that can solve the problem was momentarily disconnecting and reconnecting the keyboard . Likewise, the problem usually returns . The local support Dell keyboards we changed several times but the problem persisted.
Im a ENVY 17-j092nr Notebook PC (windows 8.1) pc user with all drivers and OS updates working fine, nevertheless sometimes im getting an annoying error that makes windows vibrate like crazy, the problem is a little odd to explain, it makes the BAR on explorer.exe folder flick and other "content frames" from several software, on Firefox for instance the upper bar which is orange start flicking useless, or in vlc it flicks the same, and then the worst on the windows log screen, that makes my picture flicks fast from the left to the middle several times per second, making impossible to write any password and its especially annoying when simple pass stop working.
Thing that i tried: -Changing mouse and installing video, display, mouse and other drivers besides updating them. -Using Windows build and external software fix and repair utilities. -Updating OS (Why? dk but i was trying alternatives). -Disconnection electricity when this happens didn't work. -Cleaning fan and avoiding any external particle on mouse laser.
Is there a way to lock the Fn function in for when I am playing a game and need to use the function keys. I keep kicking myself out of a game because on instinct I use the function keys still.
Certain keys on the keyboard don't work and if they do they will type a couple of random letters. Anyone else have this? It most likely isn't software as they dont work even before I get to windows(recovery command prompt).
Sometimes it will work after so many reboots and BIOS resets, but generally it happens at random times. I already spoke to tech support and am sending it in as the lady I talked to had no idea what the problem and insists it's windows. The onscreen keyboard works fine which is how i typed all of the "P"s and ".
Anything I can do to avoid sending it in, as I really like the laptop aside from the malfunctioning keyboard.
i got an Envy 15 last week and i LOVE it! however i have a problem, the function keys along the top have some 'issues'
if i hold the 'fn' key and press them they work as F1 F2 etc as expected but some of them dont work as they should when pressed on their own!
The brightness, media, and screen selection keys work fine but the F1 key doesnt bring up help as it should and the f12 key doesnt lock the system! This is annoying as i use my laptop at work and lock it whenever i go away from my desk so pressing 1 key to lock would be very useful! The strange thing is, it worked fine yesterday but isnt working today!
