View 5 RepliesI am looking at buying the HDX 16t and it only comes with vista. My company needs it to run XP pro as their programs wont run on vista.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI've had my DV7T CTO for less then one month and the keyboard letters (on each key) are already starting to fade/rub off. This is insane! I suppose I'm going to have to do without a computer now to send this in to get it replaced instead of HP just sending me a replacement keyboard... Why do they insist on everything being sent into them? A keyboard replacement takes all of 5 minutes to do.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy keyboard randomly inserts a double letter as I'm typing. But I do not see a ffix anywhere (just did it again). I've tried changing keyboard settings, downloading updates, etc, etc. This is actually the THIRD HP Envy computer in a row to have this problem.
Â
Model 15-u010dx
Windows 8.1
My keyboardd generates double letters (I'm leaving them in as I type to show what II mean). I've searched this forum for similar probleems and have already done the following:
Updated BIOS
Installed/uupdated toouchpad ddriver and input ddriver
Installed touchfreeeze
Unchecked the keyboard driver in device manager andd restarted the computer
None of those steps has solved the problem.
My qwerty keyboard is not doing or missing many of the letters in upper case - just lower case, and the letter 'L' seems to have given up completely - it will not type  neither lowercase or upper case. This problem exists in what seems to be all applications.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an issue with the keyboard on my new 15z. The cursor seems to have a mind of its own and jumps all over the place while I am composing emails and letters. This happens at random. What is causing this. I have tried disabling the mouse pad and using a USB mouse but the problem persists. I have tried being extremely careful not to touch the arrow keys located in the bottom right hand corner of the keyboard area but the problem continues

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have only had this latop 3 months and it is missing keys when I type. It isnt that the laptop is slow and needs to catch up, it just misses letters and I have to keep going back over the text and filling in. It gets very frustrating putting passwords in and letters and numbers miss.Â

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a HP HDX16-1005EA and the left shift and left control are broken, so I found on Ebay a new keyboard to replace, but the problem is my keboard layout is from UK and the keyboard on ebay is US, is this a problem?
I mean will all keys work normally? Because there's a difference between both, with the enter, and ~ Here is pics of the two layouts:
I just got a HDX 1140us, but I've notice that my disc drive is making a groaning noise twice on Start up (BIO's POST check); and twice agn during the loading of Vista; and w/e I open/close the drive.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI cleaned my xps 13 ultrabook last week with foamclene. I didn't spray it directly on to my keyboard but must have had too much on the cloth. Anyway my fn key is now typing letters from the middle row of kes, in varying combinations - jfsda, jfsd, jfs, jfa, jfk. When I noticed, I left the machine upside down to dry out for a few days but nothing changed.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI know that I can use the character palette to do this, but I'm looking for a faster way.
I actually do have to use a few Greek letters with some frequency.
I know there are a few:
Option+J = ∆
Option+W = ‡”
Option+P = ƒÎ
and so forth, but what about the other "biggies" -- alpha, beta, and gamma, for starters? Can't seem to find 'em; either there are no such codes, or I'm just not creative enough.
I have an ACER Aspire 5670. Recently i installed windows vista business.
From the day i installed vista my battery appears to be broken.
Ok let's say battery cells were destroyed (Fedora installed on the same system report that battery may be dammaged)-So it may be destroyed in a couple of hours.
The second weird thing is that it persists not to recognize one device. In the device manager it has a hardware ID: ACPISMCB000
Third weird story. Today my notebook prompted that there was SP1 update available. I installed it (in 3 phases - 2together at shutdown and 1 after restart)
After SP update my keyboard stopped working - same thing with touchpad. I uninstalled SP1, uninstalled synaptics driver and re-installed it - same thing.
In a forum somewhere i read that battery causes these problems. I took battery off and now i am writing this message from my notebook's keybord ... touchpad still dead...
both keyboard and touchpad work perfectly in Fedora 9 and that usb mouse/keyboard work perfect too in Vista.
all newbie nik here would love a bit of help with this please
when i type certain letters on my dell vostro llaptopthey dont work nothing happens the cursor keeps flashing in the same place .....
I regularly find that,  with a  single keystroke, my brand new Dell Latitude e5540 laptop randommly produces 2 spaces (most often) and double letters (sommewhat less often than the doubled spaces, but consistently and  predictably). The faster I type, the more oftenn the errors occur... I have  found  it to be an issue of how hard I strike the keys. The keys  controlled by my dominant right hand are most often affected whereas those controlled by my pinkie fingers NEVER have been affected.
I  amm only one of many employees at my place  of  work who all are experiencing the same problemm. I have asked repeatedly for Dell to let me know the extent of this problem and whether they have a recall of this model (which, as far as I can tell, is pervasive with this particular mmodel). My persistent questions have never been answered by Dell, despite numerous contacts with 3 different agents.
P.S. If you notice double letters where there should be single letters or  extra spaces in this e-mail and this post scrippt, please read on for the reasonn: I am using the brand new Dell Latitude e5540 computer our school system recently purchased to write this e-mail. I have simmply givven up editing my typing... you're getting the spontaneous errors caused by this computer so you can see for yourself and hopefully to motivate Dell to fix the problemm soonner, rather than latter.
IMPORTANTLY, if you are having similar problems with YOUR BRAND NEW Dell Latitude e5540 laptop you specifically will NOT have tthese problems if you use an external keyboard... it only occurs with the laptop's built in keyboard) PLEASE send me your servvice tag (S/N) nummber from the bottom of your Delll LLatitude e5540 computer and I will include your commputer in my conntact with Delll about this problem. (It is a problemm of this particular model... I have never experiennced this before with any other computer).
I've browsed the discussions and have seen problems similar to, but not exactly the same as, my problem, hence the new thread.
Problem: I have a brand new Inspiron 1545 from Dell online. When I type text in Internet Explorer (e.g. webmail applications or this forum), even at a relatively slow speed, many of the keys don't seem to register --
that is, letters or spaces whose keys I press do not show up on the screen. As a result, I must type verrry slowly to make sure that every letter/space shows up, or else go back to re-type it. Strangely, I do not have this problem when typing text in, say, Notepad .....
Dell Inspiron 1545 with Vista
Slow keyboard response, letters don't keep up with my typing.
That explains it. Have a PDF where something as simple as a lowercase alpha, beta -- or a division sign -- is rendering as a blacked-out box.
In Font Book, all fonts on this machine are listed under PDF, as well. Running OS X 10.6.3.
The PDF works fine on a friend's Vista machine.
I'm in trouble to buy a DV5 (1199) or a HDX16 (1260).
The HDX16 has bigger HD, video card and a wonderfull monitor while the DV5
is lighter and cheaper (I can save 400 euro and the specs are enough for me).
But the real problem is that in my understanding the DV5 has some problem with the warming (in particular there is a very hot point just near the touchpad) and some "click" in the audio, using the WiFi.
I'm having trouble deciding between these two notebooks and I was wondering if someone a bit more experienced ........
View 9 Replies View RelatedI was looking into buying this laptop but read on the forums that there have been quite a few complaints of overheating. I plan to game a lot with the laptop and so will probably be pushing the laptop. Is it true that the cooling system is quite inefficient? Is it only for games and such, or even for movies, web browsing etc. Was going to go for a Samsung with similar spec but smaller screen cos it has really good cooling.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI started having this problem recently after changing some things from starting up using services.msc and I think I disabled something I was not suppose to, before I did any changes when I lowered the volume on the HDX I would actually see the graphics for it, but now I am not able to, and also I don't think I am able to control the Bass & Treble using the touch controls, so anyone using and HDX can you tell me what services I need in order for this to work,
View 6 Replies View RelatedHave an HDX16 2.4ghz C2D Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT 4gigs ram, 5400rpm HDD.
I'm trying to play games like Age of Empires2, Unreal Tournament, Thief, and NES emulators...and the computer is running somewhat terribly. It stutters during game play...and when i look at walls in first person games...speeds up tremendously (almost like its turbo mode or something). Vsync is off, GPU set to performance.
I uninstalled Vista 64bit and put XP Pro (SP3) 32 bit on it. Nvidia drivers are up to date.
I just got my HDX16, and was updating it through the HP Update program, and it only had two updates for me and both seemed not to be very important, so I was wondering about updating the BIOS and the different hardware drivers, is this done through HP Update or do I have to go on their website and download them from the site? Also is there a way I can see what version driver I have currently installed?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy friend have a problem with it. The CPU is overheated.
He already undervolt the CPU and have about 10C lower than usual.
However, currently, it seems the temperature raise up again and is very unusual. When normal browsing the internet or do minor stuffs, the CPU temperature bump up to 65-80C or even more.
Would it due to FAN problem(spoiled)? or something else?
If it's FAN problem, how to replace it? I mean where can I buy the FAN that fit HP HDX16 well.
what the fastest CPU is one can put in a HDX16. I thought that the HDX16 has a socket P, and the fastest CPU for that socket is the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550. Will that one fit, and work?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a HDX16 that came with Vista Premium. I want to install Vista Ultimate, but I would like to install some applications that came with the machine. In particular, MediaSmart and the Cyberlink DVD tools. I looked at the DVDs that came with the machine, but they are not in a format that allows me to run any kind of install to get to the individual applications. it wants to do a full recovery that includes the OS.Does anyone know how to install the individual apps.
