I have a HP HDX16-1005EA and the left shift and left control are broken, so I found on Ebay a new keyboard to replace, but the problem is my keboard layout is from UK and the keyboard on ebay is US, is this a problem?
I mean will all keys work normally? Because there's a difference between both, with the enter, and ~ Here is pics of the two layouts:
just bought a HDX16 from bestbuy, there is a plastic strip between the Number key and normal keyboard if i press the strip, the Number keyborad goes up and down also, if i press the Number Keyboard, the same problems for the CD Drive, when the drive comes out, the drive seems not well fixed i can move it left and right, and the HDD is so noisy, compare to my X200 is that normal?
I've got the HP Pavillion DV5-1250us Notebook (bronze finish) which has the classic keyboard problem! You can't read the keys because of the lousy color combination they chose. 90% of the people who bought this notebook ended up getting the keyboard replaced.
My notebook is STILL UNDER WARRANTY.
I read in a lot of places, including Newegg.Com Customer Reviews and across discussion forums - People were able to call in and HP sent them a replacement keyboard FREE of charge; including shipping and all.
When I got on the phone with them today, they are willing to replace the keyboard free of charge & all - but they want me to SEND IN my entire notebook to them! How come they want me to send in the notebook whereas in other instances they sent the owner the replacement keyboard?
I've had Toshiba send me a replacement keyboard in the past; why can't HP do this?
how to take apart the keyboard on the Sony Vaio TX.

However, the keyboard 'came-away' from the rest of the latop so fast upon lifting it up I did not get a real chance to see how it actually connects to the laptop.
I am now having a real problem connecting the keyboard back to the laptop. Does anyone have any high resolution images of how their laptop is connected or how it should be done?
I spilled something on my 6920G keyboard and now it's totally ed... I use it on the move so using an external keyboard is not an option for the most part. I also need it for my course, so I'm completely ed at the moment.
I need to get a replacement keyboard as soon as I can and I also need to figure out a way to disable the on board keyboard on board when I'm using an external one.
Most of the keyboards on Ebay UK cost £23 with £9 shipping which is an awful lot for such a flimsy keyboard. Is there anywhere I can get one for cheaper?
I contacted Sony support about the keyboard color; I was going to change the color of my system to white so I could have the white keyboard (and I really started liking the color).
Unfortunately, it was too far along in the process (even though it was backordered and not shipping til the end of April) to modify the order.
It isn't really worth the trouble, in my opinion, to wait for the notebook, return it, and wait another two or three weeks for the white one
I'm in trouble to buy a DV5 (1199) or a HDX16 (1260).
The HDX16 has bigger HD, video card and a wonderfull monitor while the DV5 is lighter and cheaper (I can save 400 euro and the specs are enough for me).
But the real problem is that in my understanding the DV5 has some problem with the warming (in particular there is a very hot point just near the touchpad) and some "click" in the audio, using the WiFi.
I was looking into buying this laptop but read on the forums that there have been quite a few complaints of overheating. I plan to game a lot with the laptop and so will probably be pushing the laptop. Is it true that the cooling system is quite inefficient? Is it only for games and such, or even for movies, web browsing etc. Was going to go for a Samsung with similar spec but smaller screen cos it has really good cooling.
I started having this problem recently after changing some things from starting up using services.msc and I think I disabled something I was not suppose to, before I did any changes when I lowered the volume on the HDX I would actually see the graphics for it, but now I am not able to, and also I don't think I am able to control the Bass & Treble using the touch controls, so anyone using and HDX can you tell me what services I need in order for this to work,
Have an HDX16 2.4ghz C2D Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT 4gigs ram, 5400rpm HDD.
I'm trying to play games like Age of Empires2, Unreal Tournament, Thief, and NES emulators...and the computer is running somewhat terribly. It stutters during game play...and when i look at walls in first person games...speeds up tremendously (almost like its turbo mode or something). Vsync is off, GPU set to performance.
I uninstalled Vista 64bit and put XP Pro (SP3) 32 bit on it. Nvidia drivers are up to date.
I just got my HDX16, and was updating it through the HP Update program, and it only had two updates for me and both seemed not to be very important, so I was wondering about updating the BIOS and the different hardware drivers, is this done through HP Update or do I have to go on their website and download them from the site? Also is there a way I can see what version driver I have currently installed?
My friend have a problem with it. The CPU is overheated.
He already undervolt the CPU and have about 10C lower than usual.
However, currently, it seems the temperature raise up again and is very unusual. When normal browsing the internet or do minor stuffs, the CPU temperature bump up to 65-80C or even more.
Would it due to FAN problem(spoiled)? or something else?
If it's FAN problem, how to replace it? I mean where can I buy the FAN that fit HP HDX16 well.
what the fastest CPU is one can put in a HDX16. I thought that the HDX16 has a socket P, and the fastest CPU for that socket is the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550. Will that one fit, and work?
I have a HDX16 that came with Vista Premium. I want to install Vista Ultimate, but I would like to install some applications that came with the machine. In particular, MediaSmart and the Cyberlink DVD tools. I looked at the DVDs that came with the machine, but they are not in a format that allows me to run any kind of install to get to the individual applications. it wants to do a full recovery that includes the OS.Does anyone know how to install the individual apps.

I've had this laptop for a few months, the fan's all dusty 'cause my apartment's dusty and I need to know if there's a video or another post that tells you how to take apart some sort of HDX16 or 18.
I just received an HP HDX16 yesterday custom configured direct from HP. I'm having one problem with this machine that is giving me a royal pain - the DVD doesn't want to burn DVD discs.
It reads CD/DVD discs fine, burns CDs just fine, but won't burn any kind of DVD media - and I've got a wide variety of excellent quality discs that I use for photo file archiving. Have tried 3 or 4 different kinds of DVD-R (all Taiyo Yuden or top brands - no junk), couple of DVD+R, couple of DVD-DL... well, you get the idea. It's not the media - it's something with the drive, driver or a conflict that doesn't show up in any of the usual places - and it's just a simple DVDRW, not a Blue Ray.
This is the same disc drive as was in the DV5t I had that burned all my media just fine.
I returned that machine because the screen viewing angles were not adequate for my digital photography work, and the configuration on the HDX16 is very much the same with both running Vista 64 Home Edition. The drive model reads HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T50L in device manager, and as I said it is detected readily and is functional in every way except burning a DVD (which is basically what it's there for ).
I've done some reading and have heard many other complaints about this issue, but mostly with Blue Ray drives. I've been through all the usual steps - uninstalling and reinstalling both the hardware and the drivers, re-imaged the system, checked the registry entries, cleaned up the OS as much as possible. But nothing works, and I thought I'd ask if anyone had come across this problem and knows a definitive solution before I have to send this unit back, which I really hate to do..........
I am a designer (graphics, website, multimedia, video) so while I don't play a lot of high end games, I do work with a lot of high quality imagery. (Note: I don't do much if any 3D rendering, so I'm safe there.)
Now I've been looking for a new laptop because the one I currently have (HP dv8000) is actually "owned" by my "day job" (also design) and I have been "let go" so the laptop has to go back. I have been very happy with this HP, and have looked at many in my search, but always seem to come back to the HPs.
Originally I was looking at another dv model - the dv7t I believe - but called HP's sales line and after a few questions the sales rep said without a doubt I need the HDX line.
So I've come to my question. I gave myself a $2k budget, so the closer to that the better, but I *do* have a little extra to play with in case something pops up. And having that extra is making my decision hard!
Should I go for the HDX16, maybe save a few bucks, or go for the HDX18 and upgrade to a dual-HDs and quad processors and the 1GB video card?
I just did a fresh install of Windows 7, I installed the drivers for the Validity sensor, but when I install DigitalPersona, it says no hardware detected.
I have an HDX 16-1140us laptop and wanted to upgrade the processor from the P8600 to maybe a T9600 or T9800. Any Ideas if this is even possible, would there be a conflict with motherboard and new processor like compatibility wise? Is there any major difference from P8600 and the T9600 or T9800?
Also is it a hard process to replace the processor myself. Was wondering if it is a complicated process.
i hear a click from the left side of my hdx16 and that same click always happens when i shut down the system and its not from the hard drive i checked it is something near the fan could that be hp protect smart or something. and another thing the fan goes very loud when i install the battery with ac on is that normal?
