I replaced the system board for an Acer Aspire 5552, and noticed that the product information for the machine, IE: Serial Number, SNID, etc are not flashed into the BIOS. The serial number for this is listed just as 123456789. Do any of you know how I can get my information flashed into the BIOS?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was having issues with my laptop(keyboard stopped working, mouse jerky, trouble booting), and after a lot of research found that a common acer problem is that the bios is the wrong version, and that it needs to be upgraded. so i downloaded a bios upgrade off of the acer website and ran it.
now my computer will not boot up, pressing the power button does nothing, it doesn't even light up.
i'm assuming that it was a bad bios flash, and i'm wondering if there's anything i can do to fix it.
my computer is an acer aspire timeline 5810tz-4657, 320 gb ram, intel pentium processor, 3 gb ram. i had windows vista and ubuntu v 10.04 installed on it prior to the bios flash.
I have an Acer Travelmate 4070 series and have accidently flashed the BIOS. When I switch on now, there is a black screen and it seems that the laptop is a paperweight now.

I bought one for a customer, and it's been a nightmare. I've done all of the suggestions and ended up taking it to an authorized repair facility. They "reset" it and said it was fixed. Of course it was not. Acer has to provide a fix as it is their product that does not function correctly.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought a new Acer E5-571-5552 recently, it came with Windows 8.1 64bit. One of the ways I use my laptop often is in "docked mode", basically connect it to external monitor via HDMI, and external USB mouse & keyboard. I set the windows power options for "close lid" to do nothing, then it works fine like a desktop. This works fine with all other laptops I've used in the past (Lenovo, HP, Toshiba...etc). But this new Acer has trouble waking from sleep, the USB keyboard & mouse only light up, but doesn't wake up the fan/drive/monitor. I have to open the lid and press a key on the laptop (USB keyboard/mouse still doesn't).
I've opened case 3601882U and chatted with 2 agents, one had me update to latest BIOS 1.11 which didn't resolve it. The other tried to insist it was a limited feature, that the Acers had to have lid open to wake up the computer from sleep. I think this is a broken feature. Is this true for all Acers, or just this windows 8.1 model?
I installed "Startup Inspector for Windows" and got an error message that borlndmm.dll was missing and therefore the program could not open. I did a Norton power scrub, ran MWB, did a clean reboot.

First issue is that the Laptop doesn't always boot. When this happens, the power button will light, the fan will spin, the HDD will start, but the screen stays black. Sometimes the PC will restart but the same thing will happen. Usually when this happens, if you hold down the power button, the laptop will power down, only to start up again. The only way to end this cycle is to unplug the machine and pull out the battery. Also of note this seems to happen 100% of the time if the machine is not plugged in, and about 50% of the time when it is.
The next issue occurs when the machine does actually boot. I HAVE to enter the bios because it never holds the date. I thought this could be a CMOS battery issue, but even after replacing that, the problem persists. After entering the date, and saving and exiting, the machine will boot into windows just fine.
System: Aspire 5552, Model Pew76: I'm attempting to restore the default software using the System and Recover Software. Everything goes fine until after Running the Language disk. The installation hangs at 99%. Here's what the Restore Progress displays:
Elapsed time: 12:31:18
Restoring system: 100%
Updating system: 99%
Why does the installation hang at 99%?
I get the Acer explore beyond limits splash screen. It stays on that for several minutes then the screen goes black and says that Operating system not found.
I was able to get the BIOS screen by pushing F2 but didn't know what to do from there.
I replaced the HDD in my Aspire 7736Z. I ordered the disks FROM ACER. I keep getting the "No Operating System" error.
The disks that were sent by Acer will not boot and I cannot figure out how to boot them from a "bootable disk"
The BIOS sees the new HDD and the DVD player but will not boot.
I just recieved my Aspire 8930. But Im having a problem.
While filling out the information for my operating system, it randomly decided to BSOD on me, loading the dump information then going to a black screen. Now when I turn it off and try to turn it on, the hard drive doesnt click on or even blink the little display, neither does the screen flicker on.
I am using n5050 model from last 2 years, now i increased memory to 8GB and also changed intel celeron to core i3 processor, now when i plug in AC adaptor my screen goes to blank for just 2 seconds, a technician said you update bios, i downloaded, but it says " same version can't be flashed " .... I am using A05 version of Bios....
View 3 Replies View RelatedI thought it would be a good idea to flash the BIOS (latest version A24) before reinstalling Windows, but after doing that and installing Windows the on board mic isn't detected anymore! headphone jack, built-in speaker, work but the mic doesn't work. it worked right before doing the BIOS flash.
to remedy this I reset BIOS settings to Default, enabled and disabled Mic in BIOS settings, installed Dell Audio drivers instead of generic Windows drivers. nothing works. in fact in BIOS diagnostic tests says Webcam/mic board not detected.
I have HP Probook G2 G6W28EA#ACB. When I did off of my laptop I had a problem. It is not off up to the end ( key lights was on).I swithed off it only by taken out battery.I recovery OS from boot sector SSD HP ( by F11). After that on the client security screen I found all recovery logins. After last recovery I do not see any logins on the client security screen? but see in BIOS ( by F10 in BIOS). How to go back to factory settings of Bios and delete from Bios all informations about users.

Neither through Alt+F10 nor through eRecovery am I able to get around a Notice with the following "please complete operating system setup process before doing system recovery". There is only one option of this notice, that is to ok it and then the current Windows 7 Home Premium OS starts and I am not able to get out of this viscous circle. The OS works and is completely set up, so I do not understand what am I prompted to do. I see a number of postings out there, but no solution. Local Acer does not seem to know anything about the problem nor it's existence.

When the power button is pushed the green power indicator light comes on, the CDROM spins for a moment, but then nothing happens, there is no BIOS information displayed, no power on self test, no Dell logo. It just sits there with the green power light on.I have tried removing the power & battery then pressing the power button for 10 seconds (actually, I have tried as long as 60 seconds). I have tried to turn on with the power connected but not the battery. I have tried removing the connector cable for the power button and the connector cable for the display and then reseating them.

Sadly, after comming back from New Years Eve 2014, I wanted to turn it on, but it just started up for around 4 seconds and then started to reboot again and continued so, until power was plugged out or shut down. There was only a black screen, without BIOS etc.I've searched forums for a solution, all of whom resulted in failure.

I've tried to check whether the hard drive is a problem and slave it to another laptop but it's still working, it will boot up well in another PC. Now I tried to insert a bootable USB drive just to reformat it for it to work again, but still it won't work. My bootable USB drive is detected and can be found in the boot options but if I select the drive for boot it still says "Operating System Not Found". Then I went searching over the net then I found something that might work like having it boot in Legacy BIOS mode, it boot up then but the problem is my display is distorted and fading, there are lines and overlapping display.
