View 2 RepliesI have a problem with my laptop, it won't boot up due to "Operating System Not Found", but I've used it already for several times but just yesterday it turned out that "Operating System Not Found". I've tried to check whether the hard drive is a problem and slave it to another laptop but it's still working, it will boot up well in another PC. Now I tried to insert a bootable USB drive just to reformat it for it to work again, but still it won't work. My bootable USB drive is detected and can be found in the boot options but if I select the drive for boot it still says "Operating System Not Found". Then I went searching over the net then I found something that might work like having it boot in Legacy BIOS mode, it boot up then but the problem is my display is distorted and fading, there are lines and overlapping display.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI get the Acer explore beyond limits splash screen. It stays on that for several minutes then the screen goes black and says that Operating system not found.
I was able to get the BIOS screen by pushing F2 but didn't know what to do from there.
I am trying to fix a v5-571 for a customer, i get the " no operating system found" error, so i thought i could just wip out the hard drive back it up and restore, total failure after removing the drive, the drive comes up with cycle redundancy errors which usually means drive is dead, now I can buy a replacement but I've been unable to find recovery disks for the new drive. The lappy is windows 8. There is no disks with it he never made a recovery disc.

View 1 Replies View Relatedmy Vaio and so I decided to recover everything with my recovery disk.
I chose the option to wipe and erase data, and when I tried to restart my laptop... it tells me that the operating system could not be found.
I'm still under the company warranty so I was also thinking of returning it to get it fixed if I can't do it on my own.
Came to a point when I should completely restore the OS on my Acer Aspire 4752. Neither through Alt+F10 nor through eRecovery am I able to get around a Notice with the following "please complete operating system setup process before doing system recovery". There is only one option of this notice, that is to ok it and then the current Windows 7 Home Premium OS starts and I am not able to get out of this viscous circle. The OS works and is completely set up, so I do not understand what am I prompted to do. I see a number of postings out there, but no solution. Local Acer does not seem to know anything about the problem nor it's existence.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI got a Sony VAIO VGN-SZ330P for free. It is about three years old and the manufacture date is late 2006. The problem is that on startup I get the above message. I took the drive out of the computer and hooked it up externally to my pc and was able to read and write to it. Because of this I would have to think the HD is OK. When I put it back in the laptop it does not spin and the bios does not see it. I am thinking a controller or mobo or a disconnected power cable inside. It is a SATA drive with a single combined power/data connector.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis laptop shows "no operating system found" when I power up. I ran knoppix which works but I tried pressing F8 to get to the CMD prompt but it doesn't work, I can get into the BIOS, anything I can do in the bios to do either a system restore or run the recovery?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have Inspiron 14R N4010. Its 2 years old. Its Toshiba hard drive(320 Gb) crashed 8 months before so I bought new WD hard drive(500 Gb), which also crashed again 2 weeks before(OS drive had bad sectors apperently) . Hence i got it replaced by WD for a new 500Gb hard drive.
Now, when I am trying to install OS in my new hard drive, i am getting following error:
Intel UNDI, PXE - 2.0 (build 083)
Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation
For Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller v2.0.2.3(06/18/10)
Check cable connection!
PXE-M0F : Exiting Intel PXE ROM.
Operating System not found.
after learning about possible mistakes by reading some forums
1) I checked that hard drive is installed properly, all connections are good.
2) DVD I'm using to install Window 7 is bootable one & i have used it before
3) BIOS settings are checked to boot fromCD/DVD drive. (It is not booting from network adapter which supposed to be reason for ethernet error as per many other forums)
4) I tried draining current by pressing power button for 20 sec to reset settings.(I read in some forum) but even that didn't worked.
BIOS is detecting hard drive...so that is also not issue. Could new hard drive be damaged? should i get this new one also replaced again? I need some way to confirm this before me sending it back to WD.
In one microsoft forum, I read for same problem
"update the basic input/output system (BIOS) to the latest version by contacting the motherboard or computer manufacturer and check if it works.Important: Modifying BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the configuring of BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Modifications of the settings are at your own risk.

I'm trying ubuntu from USB (also tried linux Mint) but I can't boot from the USB, I always get "operating system not found" error.
I tried booting with F12 and choosing USB, tried to change boot order in bios and set USB 1st but nothing works. What else can I do ? The usb is bootable so the problem is with the laptop/bios.
That's was Dell's Diagnostic's (F12) tells me about my Studio 1745 - and no other errors are found. I'm assuming it's has a fried hard drive but how can I be sure before I buy a placement hard drive and install it?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI replaced the HDD in my Aspire 7736Z. I ordered the disks FROM ACER. I keep getting the "No Operating System" error.
The disks that were sent by Acer will not boot and I cannot figure out how to boot them from a "bootable disk"
The BIOS sees the new HDD and the DVD player but will not boot.
I just changed the hard drive on my acer 5515. I also tried to add an operating system using a flash and it won't do anything. I changed the order so it can read from the usb but after that it's stuck on a blank page with a flashing line.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy 8 month old "Mini 9" Inspiron 910 shows "operating system not found" on boot-up and bios shows HDD size of 0MB. Fixed shows STEC PATA 16GB-(PM).
I realize re-installing XP is my next bet but I can't boot to USB. maybe the Solid State HD DEAD?
I have exchanged the HDD of my Vaio Z4 with a C300 Crucial 256GB SSD.
I installed Win 7 64bit ultimate from the scratch (allowing Win7 to set up the drive during the process).
The current bios is: R5031M3A (I was using the R4044M3 bios before with the same result.)
I have the following problem:
When I restart the laptop either as cold boot or from hibernation, I always get the message "operating system not found". This problem occurs every single time. When I press "alt+ctrl+del" in order to do a "hot" reboot, I have no issues anymore. Also from standby or doing a reboot, the SSD boots without a problem...
I am currently wondering what is going wrong.
The drive seems to work perfectly. Benchmarks are as they should be. The drive is properly recognized with all necessary settings installed...
I wonder right now, if I should try to install Win7 again. But before use a partition manager to format and set up the drive properly... Or is there another issue I have overlooked?
The You tube video says it is new. My system is not yet 1 month old.... The App looks promising.... Wish I could find it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy friend bought a Sony Viao VGN-FZ190 Laptop from a estate sale. The Problem with the laptop is that when you try to boot it, it tells you that the operating system is not found. I tried to recover/reload the operating system, but when you boot from cd, it goes through everything and says "hard drive not found". When you boot it, the post test show the hard drive, and I even tried putting in a brand new one with the same results. If I tap the esc. key when booting it asks me to boot from the hard drive (even gives me the name of the hard drive) or cd. Same results. I can not get into the bios, due to not having the password, and since I do not have the origional recipts from purchase, sony will not issue me the "one time" bios password. Which is fine since I think $50 for a password to something you own is a rip.

My Acer Travelmate 2420 now fails to see the operating system. When I use the restore DVD that I had made it boots up and after a while the recovery runs. I hit a problem when the machine asks for disc 2 to continue the recovery. Only one disc was ever made during the back up session.
A few facts.
Before the OS failed Acer Recovery and other Acer Programs had started to not function.
The C: and D: drives where NTFS Formatted.
I have even considered cleaning the hard drive altogether and installing a new OS. The problem here is that I can't get into DOS Mode.
I have a hp envy m7j010dx with windows 8.1. it came preinstalled (windows 8) on a 1 tb hdd. View 7 Replies View RelatedI have always bought Dells but am leaning more towards HP and am baffled by the fact that the CSR says I cannot get a laptop with an operating system disk for use with the laptop I am purchasing. I would gladly pay a fee for the disk as I have when I have purchased my Dells.
Is there any way (other than just purchasing the operating system outside of the the HP purchase) to have HP include a oem disk with my purchase?
I have an XPS14 from the Dell outlet (UK) which means it was pre-configured. The machine has a 500gig hard disk and a 128 ssd. I was surprised to find the o/s on the large hard disk and intend to move it. Is there anything special I should take into account (dell partitions/drivers) when I do this. As I don't have windows disks I intend to clone the system disk.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Studio 1535 laptop that was given to me as a gift. It included Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit...
I want to use the 64-bit version (it's an option when you initially buy the laptop), but Dell does not seem to have an option to order replacement OS recovery disks...
Is there any way I can get hold of the 64-bit Vista Home Premium recovery disks for the Dell Studio 1535, or at least somehow install the 64-bit version using my existing 32-bit product key?..
From what I have read I am under the impression that new Dell systems often are delivered with many unnecessary programs that use system resources and slow down the computer.
I will be receiving a new Latitude E6400 with Vista Ultimate in the next few days and I am unsure whether or not I should reinstall the operating system or leave it as is.
