View 3 RepliesI have Inspiron 14R N4010. Its 2 years old. Its Toshiba hard drive(320 Gb) crashed 8 months before so I bought new WD hard drive(500 Gb), which also crashed again 2 weeks before(OS drive had bad sectors apperently) . Hence i got it replaced by WD for a new 500Gb hard drive.
Now, when I am trying to install OS in my new hard drive, i am getting following error:
Intel UNDI, PXE - 2.0 (build 083)
Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation
For Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller v2.0.2.3(06/18/10)
Check cable connection!
PXE-M0F : Exiting Intel PXE ROM.
Operating System not found.
after learning about possible mistakes by reading some forums
1) I checked that hard drive is installed properly, all connections are good.
2) DVD I'm using to install Window 7 is bootable one & i have used it before
3) BIOS settings are checked to boot fromCD/DVD drive. (It is not booting from network adapter which supposed to be reason for ethernet error as per many other forums)
4) I tried draining current by pressing power button for 20 sec to reset settings.(I read in some forum) but even that didn't worked.
BIOS is detecting hard drive...so that is also not issue. Could new hard drive be damaged? should i get this new one also replaced again? I need some way to confirm this before me sending it back to WD.
In one microsoft forum, I read for same problem
"update the basic input/output system (BIOS) to the latest version by contacting the motherboard or computer manufacturer and check if it works.Important: Modifying BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the configuring of BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Modifications of the settings are at your own risk.

Since modifying BIOS setting involves risk
I have a problem with my laptop, it won't boot up due to "Operating System Not Found", but I've used it already for several times but just yesterday it turned out that "Operating System Not Found". I've tried to check whether the hard drive is a problem and slave it to another laptop but it's still working, it will boot up well in another PC. Now I tried to insert a bootable USB drive just to reformat it for it to work again, but still it won't work. My bootable USB drive is detected and can be found in the boot options but if I select the drive for boot it still says "Operating System Not Found". Then I went searching over the net then I found something that might work like having it boot in Legacy BIOS mode, it boot up then but the problem is my display is distorted and fading, there are lines and overlapping display.

I realize re-installing XP is my next bet but I can't boot to USB. maybe the Solid State HD DEAD?
my Vaio and so I decided to recover everything with my recovery disk.
I chose the option to wipe and erase data, and when I tried to restart my laptop... it tells me that the operating system could not be found.
I'm still under the company warranty so I was also thinking of returning it to get it fixed if I can't do it on my own.
I am owner of Acer Notebook Aspire E1-430. 13 months old and Operating System not found!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got a Sony VAIO VGN-SZ330P for free. It is about three years old and the manufacture date is late 2006. The problem is that on startup I get the above message. I took the drive out of the computer and hooked it up externally to my pc and was able to read and write to it. Because of this I would have to think the HD is OK. When I put it back in the laptop it does not spin and the bios does not see it. I am thinking a controller or mobo or a disconnected power cable inside. It is a SATA drive with a single combined power/data connector.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis laptop shows "no operating system found" when I power up. I ran knoppix which works but I tried pressing F8 to get to the CMD prompt but it doesn't work, I can get into the BIOS, anything I can do in the bios to do either a system restore or run the recovery?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI get the Acer explore beyond limits splash screen. It stays on that for several minutes then the screen goes black and says that Operating system not found.
I was able to get the BIOS screen by pushing F2 but didn't know what to do from there.
I'm trying ubuntu from USB (also tried linux Mint) but I can't boot from the USB, I always get "operating system not found" error.
I tried booting with F12 and choosing USB, tried to change boot order in bios and set USB 1st but nothing works. What else can I do ? The usb is bootable so the problem is with the laptop/bios.
I am trying to fix a v5-571 for a customer, i get the " no operating system found" error, so i thought i could just wip out the hard drive back it up and restore, total failure after removing the drive, the drive comes up with cycle redundancy errors which usually means drive is dead, now I can buy a replacement but I've been unable to find recovery disks for the new drive. The lappy is windows 8. There is no disks with it he never made a recovery disc.

I tried pressing f8 and control+f11 but neither of those work. I also tried reinstalling my windows 7 but after it says "starting windows" it just goes to a black screen with a curser. I'm willing to restore it completely if its nessecary.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have exchanged the HDD of my Vaio Z4 with a C300 Crucial 256GB SSD.
I installed Win 7 64bit ultimate from the scratch (allowing Win7 to set up the drive during the process).
The current bios is: R5031M3A (I was using the R4044M3 bios before with the same result.)
I have the following problem:
When I restart the laptop either as cold boot or from hibernation, I always get the message "operating system not found". This problem occurs every single time. When I press "alt+ctrl+del" in order to do a "hot" reboot, I have no issues anymore. Also from standby or doing a reboot, the SSD boots without a problem...
I am currently wondering what is going wrong.
The drive seems to work perfectly. Benchmarks are as they should be. The drive is properly recognized with all necessary settings installed...
I wonder right now, if I should try to install Win7 again. But before use a partition manager to format and set up the drive properly... Or is there another issue I have overlooked?
My friend bought a Sony Viao VGN-FZ190 Laptop from a estate sale. The Problem with the laptop is that when you try to boot it, it tells you that the operating system is not found. I tried to recover/reload the operating system, but when you boot from cd, it goes through everything and says "hard drive not found". When you boot it, the post test show the hard drive, and I even tried putting in a brand new one with the same results. If I tap the esc. key when booting it asks me to boot from the hard drive (even gives me the name of the hard drive) or cd. Same results. I can not get into the bios, due to not having the password, and since I do not have the origional recipts from purchase, sony will not issue me the "one time" bios password. Which is fine since I think $50 for a password to something you own is a rip.

Is this a problem with the CMOS Battery ? Will replacing the CMOS Battery solve the problem ?
My friend recently purchased Inspiron 15R 5521 with Windows 8(64Bit) OS. Can he downgrade the OS to Windows 7(64Bit)? as he has some issues with certain software, which according to the developers won't work on Windows 8. Will the warranty be void if the system is formatted and Windows 7 is installed. Is there any option to go in for a dual boot with Windows 8 and Windows 7. As per the support center, they do not recommend dual booting on a Windows 8 system.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI formatted my HDD and now every time I try to install Windows 7 it says Missing Boot Manager!! Is there a certain sequence I need to go through to attempt this as in HDD Password?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a dell 7720 laptop, which I would like the Windows 7 install on a SSD msata. I set UEFI, everything is OK, it loads the installer, run the install halfway, and it's the first reboot, the BIOS can not find the half-installed Windows, and start over again ... I have tried everything, I have the BIOS is re-installed. Windows 8 is also doing the same.
The funny part about it the same way I did two months ago and everything was fine, the machine worked, I just wanted to make Windows 7 the next and 8 easyBCD replaced with the sequence, and then he died doing it every since.
Maybe this program (easyBCD) I reached into the BIOS to do a bios update bios reset and not restore? If you do not install uefi, but then a traditional HDD for no reason, and the SSD is not uefi does not work.
I think the BIOS is going to be something, because I see the following installation to set up the UEFI, and partition, but the BIOS does not recognize (ran half the installation and over again to start because UEFI boot is not displayed you installed.) If you set it that boot device is added, it will print that you can not find a file system, but if I turn off the traditional boot then you will find the first installed unfinished Windows, you add the boot list, and then I went to the BIOS settings, restart, and again, you do not see your operating system. (none of what I just set it boot list)....
I recently had to reinstall my operating system. Upon returning home I attempted to down the Touch Pad.exe and the message I get is this download from Dell can't be downloaded to my Inspiron 1721 operating system.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAs a routine maintenance task, I ran chkdsk /r on my Inspiron 1545 last night and it hung at 69% in stage 5 for over 10 hours. I figured it was hung for good, so shut the machine off. When I turned it back on I got the black screen with a "missing operating system". Message.
Worst case, is it as simple to get a factory restore by hitting F8 at bootup like I;ve seen posted on the web? If not, I do have the factory system recovery disks I made, but I really want to save what's on the laptop already.
Thinking about getting a 15" MBP for the great hardware design and ability to still run whatever OS I choose. Not an Apple "fanboy," so to speak, but I appreciate the design (and ~7-hour battery life).
Unless I can get Evernote up and running the way I like, I'll need to use Microsoft OneNote quite a bit. My question is this -- given that I've never worked with OS virtualization / VMs before, just how seamless is VirtualBox running any given Windows operating system with Office running inside of that? Would my OneNote notebooks just be saved somewhere in my home directory in OS X, readily accessible for backups and the like?
I have hp pavilion dv6 win 7, originally vistaOne day I got a black screen sayingwindows boot manager , windows failed to startFile: ootBCDstatus: Oxcooooood Windows boot configuration data file is missing required information.

Manufacturer had given inbuilt windows 7 operating system which start by pressing F11 at boot.
At the time of installing external operating system through DVD, I unfortunately, by mistake I deleted all existing partition, I think, I deleted that partition which contain inbuilt OS in hard drive.
Now I am willing to install inbuilt OS by pressing F11, but this way not working. How I can install inbuilt windows 7 operating system just as previous start from by pressing F11 at boot.
