I just changed the hard drive on my acer 5515. I also tried to add an operating system using a flash and it won't do anything. I changed the order so it can read from the usb but after that it's stuck on a blank page with a flashing line.
View 2 RepliesI am trying to fix a v5-571 for a customer, i get the " no operating system found" error, so i thought i could just wip out the hard drive back it up and restore, total failure after removing the drive, the drive comes up with cycle redundancy errors which usually means drive is dead, now I can buy a replacement but I've been unable to find recovery disks for the new drive. The lappy is windows 8. There is no disks with it he never made a recovery disc.

Its Toshiba hard drive(320 Gb)Â crashed 8 months before so I bought new WD hard drive(500 Gb), which also crashed again 2 weeks before(OS drive had bad sectors apperently) . Hence i got it replaced by WD for a new 500Gb hard drive.
Now, when I am trying to install OS in my new hard drive, i am getting following error:

after learning about possible mistakes by reading some forums
1) I checked that hard drive is installed properly, all connections are good.
2) DVD I'm using to install Window 7 is bootable one & i have used it before
3) BIOS settings are checked to boot fromCD/DVD drive. (It is not booting from network adapter which supposed to be reason for ethernet error as per many other forums)
4) I tried draining current by pressing power button for 20 sec to reset settings.(I read in some forum) but even that didn't worked.
BIOS is detecting hard drive...so that is also not issue. Could new hard drive be damaged? should i get this new one also replaced again? I need some way to confirm this before me sending it back to WD.
In one microsoft forum, I read for same problem

That's was Dell's Diagnostic's (F12) tells me about my Studio 1745 - and no other errors are found. I'm assuming it's has a fried hard drive but how can I be sure before I buy a placement hard drive and install it?

Neither through Alt+F10 nor through eRecovery am I able to get around a Notice with the following "please complete operating system setup process before doing system recovery". There is only one option of this notice, that is to ok it and then the current Windows 7 Home Premium OS starts and I am not able to get out of this viscous circle. The OS works and is completely set up, so I do not understand what am I prompted to do. I see a number of postings out there, but no solution. I re-installed the OS via factory restore DVD's onto the 1st hard disk, everything works fine. I insert the 2nd hard drive, it shows it Windows, there is some slow down though, the machine will randomly crash and not respond, am I looking at a faulty hard drive here?
Anyone else had issues addig a second hard drive?

I've tried to check whether the hard drive is a problem and slave it to another laptop but it's still working, it will boot up well in another PC. Now I tried to insert a bootable USB drive just to reformat it for it to work again, but still it won't work. My bootable USB drive is detected and can be found in the boot options but if I select the drive for boot it still says "Operating System Not Found". Then I went searching over the net then I found something that might work like having it boot in Legacy BIOS mode, it boot up then but the problem is my display is distorted and fading, there are lines and overlapping display.

The BIOS sees the new HDD and the DVD player but will not boot.
I am considering buying the Aspire E5-571P-52QK. Images I have seen show either a DVD drive or a blank cover. It would make sense that these images are not of the actual product, or that you should be able to add an optical drive. However, I do not know that. Nothing, anywhere, shows what the truth on this model is.

I have an Inspiron 1525 that I am dual booting between Windows 8.1 and the Windows 10 technical preview a while ago a bought two optical bay hdd caddy's that I was going to install in the 1525 and in one of my Asus laptops the Asus laptop install went without any issues but when I tried to do the switch with the 1525 I noticed that the connector is different so after looking around I believe I have found the caddy that I want to use but I want to be sure the only issue is the one I am looking at come in both a 9.5mm and a 12.7mm capacity and I am unsure as to which one that I have. I have a new SSD that I want to clone and then install in this laptop that I use as a HTPC in my basement, which size I need SATA 2nd HDD Caddy for 12.7mm IDE Universal CD/DVD-ROM

I have an aspire 5515 it came with a amd athlon single core 2650e clocked to 1.60 ghz 3 gig of ram vista 32 bit and a built in ati radeon x1200.
i’ve been researching and discover that my board uses a s1 socket and that the board and the version of the bios will support a turion x2 processor ive been looking to see if anybody has done this and theres some people that claim they swap the athlon for an athlon x2 but the original processor only uses about 15 watts and the one that they claim to change was 55 watts soo i dont think thats true im looking at a turion x2 tl66 2.3 ghz running at 35 watts will this work and will the power supply handle the difference and will the temperature be ok
i want to do this for gaming will the 2650e single core at 1.60 for the turion 64 x2 2.3 will it be a worth upgrade ?
I bought the Walmart special and am actually happy with it. I didn't have much money to spend and after removing all the crapplications, installing AVG etc... it's running well. If I had XP to install I would have done it from the start but I'll live. I'm even managing to run WoW with no issues after tweaking in game specs and playing in the Catalyst Control Center.
Now...my problem. I uninstalled all the Acer utilities and now eRecovery will not work for me. I'd like to back up the OS and drivers so if need be I can restore to factory or at least close. Can I do this with NTI Backup Now? or will that just back up folders and files? If not what can I use to make restore discs.

I have not been able to find information on the motherboard for this laptop. Acer site was not much help but I figured it was because the laptop came out around 12/09 but i dont no for sure. I happened upon the emachine site and there is one that looks exactly like it and has the same specs. So I have to wonder if this is an emachine with acer plastered all over it. Does anyone no what the motherboard model is or for sure what the highest processor i can upgrade to, if possible. I see where others say they have put higher processors in it but want to no for sure.

It connects to the available networks with no problem. But it will not connect to any internet service. Strange, but that is also what trouble shooter says. Connects to network, but not to internet, thus browser cannot resolve to any URL.
I even disabled firewall to see if it would help, but it will not.
Even has issues trying to network at home using ethernet cards. Detects, but will not connect.

I am going insane, on the device manager it says I have two HDs, but I think one of them has been partitioned, the one with the windows data on (C drive) the HDs in my computer are displayed as this:
I've been told of a program call 'Raid' or something, but I'm really not sure what it actually does.
I just want to know if the two smaller HDs are partitioned and if possible, how to join them up again,
ACER Travelmate 2420 fails to see operating system and will not restore from disc.
My Acer Travelmate 2420 now fails to see the operating system. When I use the restore DVD that I had made it boots up and after a while the recovery runs. I hit a problem when the machine asks for disc 2 to continue the recovery. Only one disc was ever made during the back up session.
A few facts.
Before the OS failed Acer Recovery and other Acer Programs had started to not function.
The C: and D: drives where NTFS Formatted.
I have even considered cleaning the hard drive altogether and installing a new OS. The problem here is that I can't get into DOS Mode.
