I am considering buying the Aspire E5-571P-52QK. Images I have seen show either a DVD drive or a blank cover. It would make sense that these images are not of the actual product, or that you should be able to add an optical drive. However, I do not know that. Nothing, anywhere, shows what the truth on this model is.
can I add a drive to this? Yeah, I can get an external, but I want an internal.
My mum (bless her heart) has managed to get a cd stuck in the optical drive of her Acer Aspire 7520 laptop. The drawer opens but unfortunately the CD remains inside, as far as I can see it's jammed above the metal casing.
I've search everywhere for instructions for removing the drive as I'm pretty certain that this would solve it but alas no luck ..... which is where you guys come in.
I am thinking about purchasing the Aspire V3 572 5217 and would like to know about the process of adding an optical drive. I have done some research and pretty much assume that the majority are universal. I would like to know if the product itself comes with a bezel or if I have to purchase one. If so, what steps do I do to make the right arrangements?

(my OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 64. I am using Optical Drive Power Management for Windows Vista Home Premium 64 - I just installed the program in compatibility mode. Before anyone suggests this is the cause of the problem, I was experiencing this same problem in Vista Home Premium 64 and was hopeful that Windows 7 would fix it...)
Can I swap an SSD for a HDD in this model? If so, would the SSD connect at SATA III (6 GB/s) or something less?

Did refresh, it said to uptdate, 95 updates! said configuring then failed to configure, says confiruring and again failed - keeps repeating itself. took battery our pressed power 20 seconds - restarted. keeps happening. managed to get to repair again but would not - refresh in in progress AGAIN!

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an Aspire v5-571P Touch, running Windows 8.1, and for two years it's been awesome! But recently, it's stopped displaying low battery alerts. I've tried going to the Control Panel, Power Options, and using a different power plan. I've made sure that all of the power plans' advanced power settings are as follows (after a suggestion of upping the low battery level from 10% to 20%):
Critical battery action: On battery: Hibernate Low battery level: On battery: 20%Critical battery level: On battery: 5%Low battery notification: On battery: On Low battery action: On battery: Do nothing (Sleep, Hibernate, and Shut Down are the other options)Reserve battery level: On battery: 9%
I've read an article that suggested updating the BIOS, though there's also a red warning on that page of the Acer website; "Upgrading your system BIOS incorrectly could harm your Acer Product. Please proceed with caution." So I was apprehensive. Any way before I attempt updating the BIOS.
The pop-up window reads:
"WARNING! Please boot this Recovery Disc using legacy BIOS mode"

when I switch it to Legacy BIOS, then the pop-up window reads:
"WARNING! Please boot this Recovery Disc using UEFI BIOS mode"
I have tried secure boot enabled and disabled.
What do I do to restore my computer? I don't have Recovery on my PC. It was lost with the WIN8.1 upgrade.

Flight mode won't switch off - it's greyed out and is ON.I've Googled the issue and an upgrade to the BIOS was recommended - it took me from 2.6 to 2.9 (I think) but still stuck on flight mode so no network connections to my printer etc. This is a fairly new machine. Upgraded to Windows 8.1.
View 2 Replies View RelatedGot a new E5-571P-55TL yesterday and going through the setup process I got all the way to where it says downloading apps. It displayed a message that it was processing or I forget what it said exactly. Then the words went away after about an hour. I remember reading that it said it may do this, may have a blank screen and not to turn it off. I left it on all night and still have just a green screen this morning. I know my wifi is not the fastest and figured that's what it was. Came to work today and left it sitting on the counter, still on.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased an Acer 8930G and am very pleased with it. I decided to upgrade the hard disk in it so I bought 2 x 500GB Western Digital Scorpio Blue.
I re-installed the OS via factory restore DVD's onto the 1st hard disk, everything works fine. I insert the 2nd hard drive, it shows it Windows, there is some slow down though, the machine will randomly crash and not respond, am I looking at a faulty hard drive here?

View 10 Replies View RelatedAcer V3-111P laptop and when using the keyboard on the laptop, typing a certain letter that letter will add an extra character. Example, typing letter e, it will add ex, letter q will become q1, letter c will become hc. Not all letter will do that but there are a few.I've reformatted the laptop already and updated the BIOS as well. Also deleted the keyboard driver and re-install after to no avail. Still the same thing to those letters.

I don't use the DVD drive very often and would much prefer a 500GB or 1TB hard drive in there. The DVD drive can then be used externally via the eSATA port using this cable.
The ideal solution would be to use this NewmodeUS caddy as it supports the larger 12.7mm 1TB 2.5" hard drives and has a removable faceplate. The problem is the price.
At $55 including postage to the UK plus customs, VAT and clearance fees on top it's going to work out pretty expensive for what is essentially a slimline SATA to SATA extension
I resentally bought Acer aspire V3-572-78R3, I fell that optical drive is missing. If you have DVDs to use, you need an another computer to transfer to USB to use on this computer.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an Inspiron 1525 that I am dual booting between Windows 8.1 and the Windows 10 technical preview a while ago a bought two optical bay hdd caddy's that I was going to install in the 1525 and in one of my Asus laptops the Asus laptop install went without any issues but when I tried to do the switch with the 1525 I noticed that the connector is different so after looking around I believe I have found the caddy that I want to use but I want to be sure the only issue is the one I am looking at come in both a 9.5mm and a 12.7mm capacity and I am unsure as to which one that I have. I have a new SSD that I want to clone and then install in this laptop that I use as a HTPC in my basement, which size I need SATA 2nd HDD Caddy for 12.7mm IDE Universal CD/DVD-ROM

I'm trying to remove the optical drive as per the instructions on page 55. I've removed the screw and I have the drive open. When I pull on the drive drawer nothing moves. I am afraid if I pull harder I'll break it.
I am still using Tiger, 10.4 on my MBP.
I have recently been having issues with my optical drive. I was burning a cd for a friend and it would not burn it or pop it out when I asked it to. I had to re-start while holding down the spacebar (or mouse button?) in order for the cd to come out. I forget which method I used, but using terminal did not work nor did the eject key.
It has also done this while running iDVD to watch a movie. The iDVD interface will not work and produces the spinning beachball of death and then I cannot eject the DVD. I either have to leave it alone for the night or restart the computer. Only then will iDVD stop acting up so I can eject the DVD.
Does anyone know why this is happening? Is it all to blame on the optical drive? I just went to the Apple Genius Bar a few weeks ago for a new battery. I hoping my MBP isn't falling apart.
I've got an Acer v5-571P-6866 that won't output video to either the LCD, or out through HDMI. It powers on, doesn't seem to have any issue booting. My first thought was the motherboard, but I've tried a second and it still has the same issue.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI originally purchased my E1705 with a 60GB 7200RPM drive. I believe at the time it was mainly to save a few bucks and that the largest 7200RPM available may have been around 120GB and added $200 to the price of the machine.
I am constantly finding myself uninstalling applications and looking for things to delete to save space on this tiny little drive, it has gotten to the point that it is a hassle. I recently moved my music library to an external USB drive to free up about 20GB only to fill it again right away by installing Visual Studio 2008 and the MSDN Library.
I need more drive space!
I know there are a ton of options out there for drives which I can easily swap right into this machine but I am having a tough time trying to decide if I am willing to sacrifice the added speed of a 7200RPM drive for the additional space offered by the largest of the 2.5" drives.
I use this machine for everything, it is my primary computer so having the fastest available options is desirable. I frequently render digital video for the creation of DVDs and believe it or not I perform this function currently on external USB drives because of the space issues. Having th space to move this to the primary drive with the full speed interface will be a big plus.
Will an optical drive from a Vostro 1500 fit into a Latitude E6410? Will this be difficult to swap?
View 4 Replies View Relatedthe cd/dvd combo drive crapped on me as it only reads CDs now, no dvds. I did however steal a dvd rom drive from a Tr3ap1 , which is also the UJDA755 model so i'm assuming it well work.
Well when i tried disassembling the v505 it was impossible. i've sat for 2 hours trying to split the halves of the case to gain access and looked online everywhere to see if there were any guides but i have failed.
i even looked at the diagram but it didn't help me as all i could figure out from it were the hidden screw.
if you can take apart a Sony Z and replace the optical drive with a standard hard drive? Would the older tutorial here be the same way you can take apart a new sony Z or how do you think you could get in there?

On another note - I heard you're suppose make a new connector for the hard drive because the Sony Z uses microSATA or uSATA or something like that for their optical drives. There isn't a connector that you can readily purchase now.
