Acer :: Aspire V5-571p Keeps Restarting
Sep 26, 2014screen froze - could not find mouse pointer. turned latop off and when restarted it said need to repair okayed but said it could not repair. Did refresh, it said to uptdate, 95 updates! said configuring then failed to configure, says confiruring and again failed - keeps repeating itself. took battery our pressed power 20 seconds - restarted. keeps happening. managed to get to repair again but would not - refresh in in progress AGAIN!

Dec 9, 2014Today I bought a new Acer Aspire E5, and in the store the dependent tell me that RAM is upgradable through an additional empty memory slot available inside the laptop. But, how I can upgrade it? I mean, in the back of the laptop I don't see any compartment or cover to remove for access the RAM slots... So, how I can access to the additional empty slot and upgrade the RAM?

Mar 10, 2015I have an Aspire v5-571P Touch, running Windows 8.1, and for two years it's been awesome! But recently, it's stopped displaying low battery alerts. I've tried going to the Control Panel, Power Options, and using a different power plan. I've made sure that all of the power plans' advanced power settings are as follows (after a suggestion of upping the low battery level from 10% to 20%):
Critical battery action: On battery: Hibernate Low battery level: On battery: 20%Critical battery level: On battery: 5%Low battery notification: On battery: On Low battery action: On battery: Do nothing (Sleep, Hibernate, and Shut Down are the other options)Reserve battery level: On battery: 9%
I've read an article that suggested updating the BIOS, though there's also a red warning on that page of the Acer website; "Upgrading your system BIOS incorrectly could harm your Acer Product. Please proceed with caution." So I was apprehensive. Any way before I attempt updating the BIOS.
Acer Aspire E5-571P-52QK :: Adding Optical Drive?
Sep 4, 2014I am considering buying the Aspire E5-571P-52QK. Images I have seen show either a DVD drive or a blank cover. It would make sense that these images are not of the actual product, or that you should be able to add an optical drive. However, I do not know that. Nothing, anywhere, shows what the truth on this model is.
can I add a drive to this? Yeah, I can get an external, but I want an internal.

when I switch it to Legacy BIOS, then the pop-up window reads:
"WARNING! Please boot this Recovery Disc using UEFI BIOS mode"
I have tried secure boot enabled and disabled.
What do I do to restore my computer? I don't have Recovery on my PC. It was lost with the WIN8.1 upgrade.

Nov 17, 2014Flight mode won't switch off - it's greyed out and is ON.I've Googled the issue and an upgrade to the BIOS was recommended - it took me from 2.6 to 2.9 (I think) but still stuck on flight mode so no network connections to my printer etc. This is a fairly new machine. Upgraded to Windows 8.1.

Jan 7, 2015Got a new E5-571P-55TL yesterday and going through the setup process I got all the way to where it says downloading apps. It displayed a message that it was processing or I forget what it said exactly. Then the words went away after about an hour. I remember reading that it said it may do this, may have a blank screen and not to turn it off. I left it on all night and still have just a green screen this morning. I know my wifi is not the fastest and figured that's what it was. Came to work today and left it sitting on the counter, still on.

Dec 28, 2008I managed to snag a minor graphics card upgrade for my laptop and installed it. I changed up my 9500m to a 9600m gt. Everything seems to be going great, just needed an HDTV to get it going For some reason it would only initially post video through the HDMI.
Anyway, my issue is, while the machine runs great in windows I can't for the life of me get it to display anything before that. Which includes the BIOS boot screen, the BIOS itself, the Boot Menu or even my Windows XP disc.
Like I said, games run great, windows runs great.

It a 2.0/2mb/800fsb chip.
Im looking to put in either the T8300 @ 2.4/3mb/800 or a T9300 @ 2.5/6mb/800. How much of a performance increase do you think i will be getting between my current chip and a new one? 2.4 vs 2.5 isnt a big deal but its the 3mb vs 6mb that im interested in. how difficult is it for a relative newb to change a CPU?

Oct 31, 2009I recently had the Nvidia GPU failure on my XPS 1330 that a lot of people seem to get after 1.5 years of owning the laptop. Dell came out the next day and swapped the motherboard for a different one.
The only thing is, the motherboard they put in is a Rev:A00 which I assume is the very first revision? Not sure what I had in before but I'm noticing that the laptop is running very hot when just idling.
My CPU in an Intel T7500.
I am running Speedfan and even though CPU is very low, Temp1 is reporting 72C. Is this normal or is the laptop running hotter than it should? .....

Dec 11, 2008I recently received my Dell Studio 1535 after my motherboard on my inspiron 9100 fried. The lcd screen on the 9100 is much better (1680x1050) than the 1535 (1280x800), also i hate glossy screens. After reading this thread

I was hopeful that i would be able to swap out the 1535 screen and put in the screen from the 9100. I got both successfully removed, but kinda got stuck with the inverters and all that stuff, and got scared because i don't want to break anything. The thing that confused me the most was that the 1535 lcd plugged TWO things (power i think?) directly into the inverter, whereas the 9100 has only 1 thing that plugs directly into its inverter. It seems pretty clear that the original inverter has to be the one the computer uses based on all my googling of this subject, but how can i do that if it doesn't plug into the inverter the same way? can someone please offer me some help in this? i would have like to have contacted the original poster of the thread i linked, but of course, no contact information was available in his profile I may post pictures if i decide to take it all apart again. At the very least, can someone confirm or deny that it would be possible to make this swap? i will be very disappointed if i'm stuck with this low res screen forever...
Dell :: M6400 Display Swap To LED RGB
Mar 16, 2010I am in the process of swaping out my display from the CCFL to a LED RGB display and seem to be having a little trouble.
I purchased the replacement display with a new cable which eliminates the CCFL inverter.
It appears that is all I need to make this happen since no terminals are left without a connection.
The display comes on as expected when the machine is turned on. Its starts with a white screen at full bright then shows the Dell logo. Proceeds on to display the Windows 7 booting, but goes black when the login window should appear. Basically the backlighting gets turned off since I can see the login window, but not enough to work with. If I put the machine to sleep and wake it back up, I see the login as the screen is now a full bright.
Once logged in, I am not able to adjust brightness. Dimming with the FN-arrow keys or display preferences does not have any effect. Basically, nothing I do will allow me to dim the display.
I have tried all of the following:
1. Uninstall and reinstall the ATI display drivers
2. Reflashing the BIOS
3. Clearing CMOS
4. Uninstall and reinstall Dell's System Command
5. See if windows could find a better display driver (nope)
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and the machine has the ATI FirePro M7740.

Dec 25, 2009First off, hope everyone is having a great time during the holidays and lets not forget our fellow soldiers still deployed.
So I received my replacement on the 21st with T9800 but they are sending me another replacement with the QX9300 processor.
Scenario, lets say they decide to give me the 260's SLI instead of the 280's SLI (which is what they gave me in this replacement and this is dellienware)...
Could I take the 280's in here and put them in the 2nd replacement, obviously put the the 260's in here and return it like that?
So in short, I want to take these 280s out and put them in the new replacement. Take those 260s out and put them in this one and send it back to dell.
Any input would be great
Dell :: Direct Swap With Blu-ray Burner From Xps 16?
Apr 13, 2010Does anyone know if the blu-ray burner that is used in the XPS 16 can be used as a direct swap in the studio 15?
The reason I am asking is because I have a 16 with the blu-ray burner but the xps 16 is a bit bulky. I still need equivalent power and multi-media capabilities but the 15 is almost a pound lighter and lends to a little more portability.
I am considering purchasing the studio 15 but can't justify the costs of adding the blu-ray. I got my xps 16 with blu-ray for a steal and I can't duplicate those kind of savings with the changes recently made to EPP.
Ideally, I would like to swap the dvd drive and throw it into the 16 in addition to adding the blu-ray to the 15.
