View 15 Replies View RelatedI just wanted to double-check if it's possible to drop in a Santa Rosa "refresh" into an older M1300 (Nov. 2007, std. SantaRosa w/ T7500, latest BIOS) and if it makes sense to...
I can buy a "boxed" T9300 for about €300, which does not exactly translate into a cheap upgrade so before I do so, I'd like to know if anyone's done it and if the performance boost is worth it...
Both processors are ~35W...
i own a Hp dv6817tx, that comes with a T5750, i was wondering if it is possible to upgrade to the T7500, AND if so is it worth the upgrade?
View 3 Replies View RelatedJust like the title said, will upgrading my cpu from the T5450(1.66ghz) to a T7500(2.2ghz) change my gaming performance or is the T5450 enough power to fully run my videocard.
I OC my videocard by 30% so the clocks are 617.5Mhz/520Mhz instead of 475/400mhz, does the ocing get bottle necked by the weak cpu?
Is it worth the $100 to upgrade my cpu or should i just save the money and buy a new laptop because my 1520 is almost 2 years old but it's a very good laptop, i can get 4700 and sometimes even 4850 on 3dmark06.
I am looking for a x9000 for my 1730 anyone who has one they would like to part
View 3 Replies View RelatedWell for the past couple weeks I have been having some problems with my M1730. My processor has been overheating and causing my system to blue screen. Before that was happening I noticed it was getting really hot (70+ just while browsing the web) so I was asking my contact about the penryns, if they were just a simple swap in or not. At first he told me that my motherboard did not support them but after I showed him that the new A06 bios says it handles new cpus and the penryns are the only new procs to come out for my laptop, that they should work just fine. He said he was going to check into it for me but while he was doing that for me (he was checking into it for me for about two weeks) my system started to blue screen and lock up. So I told him that I was having some problems and mentioned that some of my friends have the X7900 and X9000 and even have them overclocked to 3.4ghz and they weren't having the same problems so I thought there was a problem with my processor and asked if he could have someone look at it for me.
Instead he said he would just swap it out with either the X7900 or X9000, whichever one I preferred, and I picked the X9000 of course. Well a couple hours later he emails me back and said he doesn't know why but he is not able to put in an order for the X9000 but can for the X7900 and asked if I wanted that one instead. I told him that I really wanted the X9000 because it is the new 45nm processor and should run cooler then the merom and since I am having heat issues that the X9000 would be the best bet. I asked if he could try it for a couple days to see if he is able to get it for me. I am wondering if I should wait and try and get the X9000 or if I should just get the X7900?
so story is, i jump on a new game called Demigod, cpu running at 2.8ghz , after about 5-10mins of playing, i notice both my cores are running at 100% and the game lags like crazy, frame rate goes down really bad.
so i figure, hm, cpu bottleneck for a game.. strange.. lets have some overclock fun - i go ahead and set my x9000 to 3.4ghz, now the game runs great, my cpu cores dont reach 100% and the frame rate is great, all is good and great. only problem with running at 3.4ghz is that after about 30mins-1hr of playing, my m1730 powers down due to what i can assume to be overheating
Like what the title says ive been googling it and can't find anything about it if the x9000 is to be able to be overclocked on the m6300. Anyone care to provide some insight
View 4 Replies View RelatedI couldn't find an actual thread about this so I figured I'd start my own that can be easily picked up by search engines assuming your good selves can add some good info to it
I took the plunge after finding a final stepping X9000 OEM chip on Ebay for 269£ and I'd like to upgrade from my T9300. I'm fairly used to working on open laptops and I replaced the CPU in my old Inspiron 8000 with no problems so I figured I should be able to handle this swap as well.
However, I have a few questions.
1. I read in the M1730 thread "Dell is offering the X9000 but like ifti was saying it should be that hard of an upgrade because it looks like u can do it without removing the motherboard
the only thing is this may void your warrenty ud have to check that"
Has anyone successfully switched the CPU on the M1730, and can they confirm that you don't need to remove the entire board and the screws are accessible from the top of the board to remove the CPU?
2. What can I use to clean the existing compound that I will have to remove before applying my own compound (Arctic Silver 5)
3. Any other advice before I break open my M1730?
Whats happening to xps1730 is it being phased out?
x9000 no longer availble as an option?
also anybody now what the difference is between 8800gtx and 9800gtx card
how does the nvidia 260 compare?
it made quite a bit of differance. Now I'm contemplating going to the X9000 2.8Ghz.
Is there any reason I shouldn't? Will I see any differance? I'm basically trying to get my computer to run as fast as possible. Not sure why, just always have the urge to work on and improve things
I'm curious if anyone knows if these notebooks can be overclocked? If so, how?
I read a review that one laptop vendor allowed over-clocking via BIOS but I'm not sure if Dell does this also and was hopeful that those of you much more learned than I could tell me if it's possible on the new Dell 6300 64 bit with the Intel Core 2 Duo Extreme X9000 chip?
I want more cpu speed for running multiple virtual machines on my laptop. Also memory upgrade.
But the qwestion is:
Wil the Aspire 5920 be able to run with X9000 bios support?
I did hear that the T9500 should work, anyone allready done it?
several people here who have been able to upgrade their SZ's to x9000 processors. I want to do the same but I want to know if it is as simple as putting the processor inn or do you have to do some modding. I am also interested in upgrading to a x7900 or t9500. Basically the x9000 is my first choice, x7900 is second and t9500 is 3rd and I want your advice as to what to do, and will I need to do any modding to put these processor in my SZ670?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI got my XPS 16 a few days ago (was going to hold out for a possible GPU update, but found a great deal at the outlet with the rgb-led, and couldn't wait any longer , and I'm going to be traveling a lot with it, so I'd prefer the 6-cell with it's lower profile. Does anyone have a new 6-cell that they want to trade for a brand new 9-cell?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a XPS 1530 with the 128mb 8400gs GPU.
I've come across a MB with the 256mb 8600gt and would like to swap them out.
Does anyone know where I can find instructions on how to take apart my laptop?
So Dell has ordered me my replacement Studio 1555 for my current Dell 1535 as it has given me so many problems and still is, as I have explained in previous posts.
I am receiving it on the 14th of August and a courier is coming to take the old one away on the 17th.. I have those days to transfer all my data over, but I have a dilemma.
I recently had the Nvidia GPU failure on my XPS 1330 that a lot of people seem to get after 1.5 years of owning the laptop. Dell came out the next day and swapped the motherboard for a different one.
The only thing is, the motherboard they put in is a Rev:A00 which I assume is the very first revision? Not sure what I had in before but I'm noticing that the laptop is running very hot when just idling.
My CPU in an Intel T7500.
I am running Speedfan and even though CPU is very low, Temp1 is reporting 72C. Is this normal or is the laptop running hotter than it should? .....
I had a major car accident and my m6300 is partialy destroyed.
I already called Dell and i have the Accidental Cover.
What do you guys think i will get to replace the m6300?
IT had 4gb ddr2, FX1600 Quadro, T7500 etc.
I recently received my Dell Studio 1535 after my motherboard on my inspiron 9100 fried. The lcd screen on the 9100 is much better (1680x1050) than the 1535 (1280x800), also i hate glossy screens. After reading this thread
[apparently i cannot post links yet, just search "LCD Swap m1530" in this site and you'll get it right away.]
I was hopeful that i would be able to swap out the 1535 screen and put in the screen from the 9100. I got both successfully removed, but kinda got stuck with the inverters and all that stuff, and got scared because i don't want to break anything. The thing that confused me the most was that the 1535 lcd plugged TWO things (power i think?) directly into the inverter, whereas the 9100 has only 1 thing that plugs directly into its inverter. It seems pretty clear that the original inverter has to be the one the computer uses based on all my googling of this subject, but how can i do that if it doesn't plug into the inverter the same way? can someone please offer me some help in this? i would have like to have contacted the original poster of the thread i linked, but of course, no contact information was available in his profile I may post pictures if i decide to take it all apart again. At the very least, can someone confirm or deny that it would be possible to make this swap? i will be very disappointed if i'm stuck with this low res screen forever...
I am in the process of swaping out my display from the CCFL to a LED RGB display and seem to be having a little trouble.
I purchased the replacement display with a new cable which eliminates the CCFL inverter.
It appears that is all I need to make this happen since no terminals are left without a connection.
The display comes on as expected when the machine is turned on. Its starts with a white screen at full bright then shows the Dell logo. Proceeds on to display the Windows 7 booting, but goes black when the login window should appear. Basically the backlighting gets turned off since I can see the login window, but not enough to work with. If I put the machine to sleep and wake it back up, I see the login as the screen is now a full bright.
Once logged in, I am not able to adjust brightness. Dimming with the FN-arrow keys or display preferences does not have any effect. Basically, nothing I do will allow me to dim the display.
I have tried all of the following:
1. Uninstall and reinstall the ATI display drivers
2. Reflashing the BIOS
3. Clearing CMOS
4. Uninstall and reinstall Dell's System Command
5. See if windows could find a better display driver (nope)
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and the machine has the ATI FirePro M7740.
has anyone tried/considered/imagined swapping a 13.3" LCD onto a 1210xps?
does anyone know if the 1330 LCD connector is the same?
i know it wouldnt look pretty but id be prepared to cut and paste the bezel as necessary since the laptop wouldnt leave my room
Can I swap non-Back-lit keyboard for Back-lit Keyboard?
There are some very nice systems @ outlet, but w/o Back-lit Keyboard
First off, hope everyone is having a great time during the holidays and lets not forget our fellow soldiers still deployed.
So I received my replacement on the 21st with T9800 but they are sending me another replacement with the QX9300 processor.
Scenario, lets say they decide to give me the 260's SLI instead of the 280's SLI (which is what they gave me in this replacement and this is dellienware)...
Could I take the 280's in here and put them in the 2nd replacement, obviously put the the 260's in here and return it like that?
So in short, I want to take these 280s out and put them in the new replacement. Take those 260s out and put them in this one and send it back to dell.
Any input would be great
Does anyone know if the blu-ray burner that is used in the XPS 16 can be used as a direct swap in the studio 15?
The reason I am asking is because I have a 16 with the blu-ray burner but the xps 16 is a bit bulky. I still need equivalent power and multi-media capabilities but the 15 is almost a pound lighter and lends to a little more portability.
I am considering purchasing the studio 15 but can't justify the costs of adding the blu-ray. I got my xps 16 with blu-ray for a steal and I can't duplicate those kind of savings with the changes recently made to EPP.
Ideally, I would like to swap the dvd drive and throw it into the 16 in addition to adding the blu-ray to the 15.
Thanks in advance!
I have just received a refurb E6500 from the Dell outlet and felt as if it wouldn't be powerful enough for engineering (found an M4400 on the outlet a day after I bought the E6500 that would have fit my budget ).
So after reading some reviews and looking at some pictures I have decided to do a motherboard swap with an M4400 (and if everything works out make $60 from it all too!)
I completed the swap. powered up notebook, then no bios screen showed, screen had pixels all around it and garbled lines and got progressively brighter, then all of the sudden windows log on screen appeared. Normally I would not care, but I want to install Windows 7, I cannot do this if i cannot access the BIOS to change the boot sequence.
View 15 Replies View RelatedIf I got a different Studio 1555 could I just swap the harddrives? Cuz I've already spent like 50 hours setting this one up with programs and files and settings etc.
