But now it does it when i turn it on before windows starts loading, leading me to believe that this is a hardware issue. does anyone know what i should replace in the laptop inorder to fix this problem?

Audio_Realtek_v6.0.1.5413_R167_XP_Vista
Audio_Azalia_v.5.10.0.5443
downloaded these from the acer site still not working, pretty sure it needs a realtek driver, is there a patch or something else needed?

I stumbled on this forum and read a few posts about how some of you put a dual core processor in it. I noticed that the Core 2 Duo T7100 was used and I had some questions.
My first question is...
The current processor is a Intel Celeron 540 with a FSB speed of 533 MHz. The ram is also 533 MHz. However, the T7100 I want to use has a 800 MHz FSB. If I use this processor, won't I get problems with the processor having a faster FSB than the ram?
My second question is...
If anyone has done this processor upgrade, can you see a difference in the battery life? Currently, with the Celeron processor, I get 1 hour 45 minutes of battery life. Will the T7100 extend the battery life?
I sent my Acer Aspire 4315 notebook to their repair center in Texas. I had a problem with the jack input for the power. It wasn't responding and found out that it was broken (Update: it wasn't actually broken it just felt very loose to the point were it might break). Also the left corner of the notebook was loose. In order to send in your notebook you have to use there online acer depot repair request system. So I sent it in using UPS ground which cost me $40. After 3 days I received and email saying it was received. 2 days later I receive another email saying it was fixed and will be shipped back using Fedex. Then 4 days later when I got home I received a "door tag" saying i wasn't there to pick up the package and sign for it. It came at 11:30 A.M and I get home a 4:00 P.M. So obviously I couldn't sign for it. Because of this problem I called and requested that they ship it after 4:00. They said they can ask the driver but it doesn't guarantee that will be shipped at the time you requested. So the next I come home I get another "door tag" saying I missed my package the second time. This time I asked them to leave it at there facility and let me pick it up. They said I would have to wait until tommorow to get my package. Tommorow arrives and I pick it up. Finally I have my notebook. I now drive back and open up the box. It came with a paper saying it was fixed. So I now get my AC adapter to plug it in. And guess what? They didn't fix the problem. I carefully looked at the paper and it said that they fixed problem stated which in there mind was the loose left corner of my notebook. WTF? They didn't even bother to fixed the important problem, the POWER JACK! That's horrible service! I then call them saying they didn't fix the problem. after being transferred 5 YES 5 TIMES! The support person said they will pay for the shipping to send it back. Which means that I will have to wait even more to get it back AGAIN and actually have it fixed. The only good part about it being shipped back is that they are going to use Fedex priority overnight. WOW WHAT A TREAT!
UPDATE: I havn't shipped the laptop back. I was about to until I decided to take one last "explore" inside of it. I found out that the power jack wasn't directly attached to the motherboard, just a wire leading to it. So with a little superglue or epoxy it would be fixed. Now that I know what to do. There will be no need to send it back and wait another horrible week!
On many occasions when I turn on my Acer aspire 4315 the screen turns white. or if I put it in sleep mode and turn it on.

Example, typing letter e, it will add ex, letter q will become q1, letter c will become hc. Still the same thing to those letters.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am considering buying the Aspire E5-571P-52QK. Images I have seen show either a DVD drive or a blank cover. It would make sense that these images are not of the actual product, or that you should be able to add an optical drive. However, I do not know that. Nothing, anywhere, shows what the truth on this model is.
can I add a drive to this? Yeah, I can get an external, but I want an internal.
I just changed the hard drive on my acer 5515. I also tried to add an operating system using a flash and it won't do anything. I changed the order so it can read from the usb but after that it's stuck on a blank page with a flashing line.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Acer inspire 5100 series laptop. Today I went out and bought a dual thingy of ram for it. I flipped the computer over and opened what I thought was the door that led to the ram, but just had a big silver immovable protector thing over it. I felt this was it, since the other things I can unscrew on the bottom will take off almost the entire bottom of the computer.
Where do I install the ram?
When reviewing this machine I found that it had a second HDD drive bay which I thought would be helpful if I ever needed extra space, that time has come. I made the mistake of buying an identical toshiba drive to put in the second bay as when I opend the second drive bay, it was totally empty, no chasis, no connector, or any sign of where I could attach a connector to the motherboard. Why promote a second drive bay if it can't be used; or can it?

Is it possible to install the TV tuner in a model that didn't come from the factory with it?
Or if anyone else has some ideas for upgrades,
is it possible to buy the bluetooth module that came in the 8920G.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased an Acer 8930G and am very pleased with it. I decided to upgrade the hard disk in it so I bought 2 x 500GB Western Digital Scorpio Blue.
I re-installed the OS via factory restore DVD's onto the 1st hard disk, everything works fine. I insert the 2nd hard drive, it shows it Windows, there is some slow down though, the machine will randomly crash and not respond, am I looking at a faulty hard drive here?
Anyone else had issues addig a second hard drive?
I've been wanting to upgrade this laptop, but it seems very snappy even with "only" 1gb RAM and 1.6ghz C2D.
One area it does need improvement on is the built-in G wireless. I would like to upgrade this to an Intel 5300AGN, but the 4230 only has two antenna connectors (for those not in the know, the 5300 has three connectors). An option of course is to install the 5100.
Where can I find the thread on a mod to add a third antenna?
Slightly off topic... What's the best N router or WAP for the 5300 to exploit the 300-450mbps theoretical transfer rate?
I ordered my 1737 with a 160gb main drive, knowing I could buy a larger one at a later date and install it as a second drive.
I understand in order to do this I'll need a special cradle and connector for the second drive bay.
Where can I get these in the UK? I've searched the Dell site and can't find anything even remotely like what I need!
I bought my Wife a m1730 with a single 320gb drive a few months ago and she's already filled it up.
Do I need to buy a kit from dell or is all the mounting equipment there already for adding a 2nd drive? Also, what drives do you recommend for the m1730?
This is more for other people's information than my own. I upped my RAM from 2gb to 8gb and when booting afterwards, the system would repeatedly hang before the BIOS screen.
I removed each module one at a time, finally getting down to zero and putting my old RAM back in. The problem persisted. Apparently when the amount of system RAM changes, it scans everything for quite a while or something. I really don't know why.
It took nearly 5 minutes to boot the system. After that, I rebooted and it was fast as can be. Anyway, it was kind of nerve wracking and I was upset by the whole thing, so I'm hoping maybe someone will see this and be able to avoid the same stress I went through
I just bought my new Z11 few days ago, had a mac book pro before.
Anyhow, mine has 128GB of SSD in a Raid 0 config, in the intel RST it says I have two spare open ports, and I know the upper signature series of the Z has quad SSD's so I'm wondering what harddrive expansion options I have?
Is it possible to swap out the current SSD with larger capacity ones? or possibly add on another 2 64 GB SSD for 256 total?
This is the spec, I believe it's not available in this exact configuration anymore:

Looking to add a 128/256gb SSD such as this [URL] ..... and eventually upgrade to a larger normal HDD. Is this possible?
Also possibly looking to upgrade to 16GB RAM, some said you can others have said it only supports up to 8gb?
I've decided to add more RAM to my laptop. I have a Vostro 1500 and it's already 2GB but i want a 4GB. My question is that if I have a 1 2gb in the slot or 2 1gb RAM in the slots. I don't want to open up and laptop and possibly screw something up. Also what type of ram do i need? DDR2? PC-XXXX?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI like my Dell D620 so much that I just got another one. I've heard that I should not add an additional 1G module to the existing 1G in this laptop, but rather that it is best to replace the existing 1G with either two matched 1G modules or one 2G module. Is that correct? Seems a shame to toss the 1G that's already in there . . .
Could I add a 2G module to the 1G that's already in there? I'm assuming that the bay will accept two RAM modules.
The OS is XP-Pro, SP3, if that matters.
I have an FW510 and was wondering if I could add a second hard drive in the place of the OD. The searches mainly returned results for AW series which officially supports a 2nd HDD. I replaced the primary drive with an Intel SSD and would like to keep the hard drive that came with it as a spare one for storage.
I know laptops from other manufacturers can use this, but has any Sony FW owner done it successfully (using OBHD or any other caddy)?
I have a dv2-1039wm notebook that I've recently updated to 8.1. I'd like to add the Bluetooth module that was available on the dv2-1000 series.

To complicate things, Windows actually loaded once, the driver setup programm was launched, the HDD was not visible and when I tried to restart it got stuck again.
Once I removed the drive everything loaded as usually.
I've searched the forum and found a service diagram on installing the bluetooth card into the M1530 notebook. My question is, I never choose to have it put in by dell, so I know I need to purchase the card and I'm going to guess that the cable will need to be purchased as well.
