I recently got my x360, used it for about a month, go to turn it on, boots up fine then I log in, and it goes to a black screen with the cursor, can't do anything except ctrl alt delete, then task manager, nothing is running, it's just a blank, black screenI've restarted it multiple times with no luck, and is becoming very bothersome.

I purchased an HP g62 notebook 2/12yrs ago I have not used it for almost a year. Problem it is having at first it was not charging properly I would get a message about battery being low and may need to be replaced I continued using it like that for like a month then one day I went to start it up this is what I got' blank screen,caps lock bli king 6 times then blink another 3 times then 6 times then 3 times repeated while the internet button is orange. The fan runs the CD opens, I just replaced the battery and new charger.

All the lights are on, but the screen is black and the only thing I hear is the fan moving. The caps lock and num lock keys have a blinking light, not really sure what that means. Today i wanted to startup my laptop, but it seems to be stuck on a black screen (with my cursor appeared) after the HP loading screen. Sometimes at the startup it says "preparing automatic restore", but results after loading at the same black screen.I tried to solve this problem with the following things:
1. Hard reset (turn off everything, hold power button 30 seconds, turn on everything and startup etc.)
2. Replacing RAM. Someone at the forum said this worked, but it didn't.
3. Tried taking off all USB devices such as mouse, DC adapter etc. and started up but didn't work.
A month ago i tried doing a factory reset, but my laptop seemed to be stuck on the same black screen.
recently installed an automatic update to windows 8.1. Now I get a black screen after the welcome page. I can load task manager and get to the internet. tried to get to safe mode at startup with f8 but several attempts were unsuccessful. I updated my graphics driver from AMD today and same black screen appears. I also restored sytem to an earlier date using the HP utility with same results - black screen after welcome page.

I wiped the ram and started with one and moved to different positions. I now have a black screen with the cap lock key blinking blue non-stop and the f12 key led light is constantly on orange. What I should try next and what does the cap lock led blinking without stopping means - is that a code or have a significance?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a compaq presario CQ61-420US with similar problems below, except I have a black screen, fan turns blinking lights are the same (num lock and cap lock) but they are flashing continuously every second or 2. I have tried the hard reset with the ram fix, connecting an external monitor, changing the battery, and the power adapter to no avail. I also used compressed air on the vents just in case was stuffed with dust since it will overheat and may cause problems, but nothing.
One option I can think of is purchasing a new MotherBoard, but I'm trying anything else before that.
I applied the recommended bios update yesterday and now the touch screen nearly continuously activates when I'm not using it. which renders the mouse pretty much useless too. I know HP will release a bios that fixes this eventually but in the meantime how do I turn off the touch screen?

only way Dell reckons to resolve it, is to go in Safe mode and go back a Restore point.
