HP Pavilion dv7 with windows 7 home premium I just got it from my uncle who hasn't use it for long time. Long enough where He forgot his login password and there is no guest just his one account. So my problem an what I'm trying to figure out is if it's possible how could I get to the control panel or is there anyway I can create myself an account.

After the updates, I can't do anything except turn on the computer, see the HP page, the green log in with password page, then all goes dark blue and freezes. It will not even rcognize the keyboard to back out. It is an HP Envy 20 all in one desktop. I have removed the back, all looks good, everything is secured and in place.

I have pavilion dv7, so far I had no problem. Now, when I login it logs in but then instead of showing me the home screen, it goes into blank black screen. It has just started to happen and I hope there is another way to make it work without rebooting the whole system.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a HP Pavilion computer (HP Pavilion 10: 10-e010nr). This was my first experience with Windows 9.1, but everything seemed to be going OK. Then, yesterday when I had to enter my password again, the computer began running very slowly and then seemed to lock-up; it wouldn't do anything. I held the "on button" until the computer shut down and then restarted it. When it restarted, it didn't get past the initial screen that shows "HP" within a blue circle and the small circle of small, white dots shows that it's working but nothing ever happens. I tried this numerous times, but the same thing happens.

I then returned to find that my laptop had not started up properly, and had instead come up with a black screen displaying "Checking disk for errors. This might take over an hour." So I left it sitting there turned on and plugged in for around 5 hours, and the message stayed on the screen. I have tried re-installing Windows 8 via hard drive and disk, and it was not able to be loaded. I have also tried hard resetting my laptop, to which the same message appeared after I turned it on again.

When I press enter to "Try again" it come back with:

I have tried the Recovery and after MUCH time waiting, it still comes back to the above mentioned screen. I have also run all the diagnostics that are available on the laptop and everything come back normal. I don't have the original discs or documentation as I "received this laptop as a "gift/curse" . It is, however, registered to me.

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy g6 has had many problems. I really regret buying it. First we had a freezing issue which hp resolved I thought that was the end of it. Now when my screen is open at a 90 degree angle to the keyboard Lines appear then the screen turns white with various colored lines running through. When I open all the way it is fine or close to a 45 degree angle. Is there a bad wire or connection? I have a prepaid box to mail to hp still. I thought hp was better than this!

i've frequantly had this problem , when i start my laptop ( hp pavilion 15n021se ) on the lock screen when i'm going to click to enter my password , just after moving mouse cruser i get the blue screen saying that the error is " invalid process attachment attempt "
i searched for this error and most results was meeting my thoughts that the cause for this error is the touch pad driver .
i've installed the latest version of the driver (sp64225) , and it doesn't suitable for my windows so i want a previous version of the driver
I'm having problems with my laptop (HP Pavilion dv4 1428dx) the last thing I did was put it to sleep, then cameback and tried to wake it up but it would not start up. All the lights are on, but the screen is black and the only thing I hear is the fan moving. The caps lock and num lock keys have a blinking light, not really sure what that means. The power LED is on, the battery LED is on, but the hard drive LED is not on.

Today i wanted to startup my laptop, but it seems to be stuck on a black screen (with my cursor appeared) after the HP loading screen. Sometimes at the startup it says "preparing automatic restore", but results after loading at the same black screen.I tried to solve this problem with the following things:
1. Hard reset (turn off everything, hold power button 30 seconds, turn on everything and startup etc.)
2. Replacing RAM. Someone at the forum said this worked, but it didn't.
3. Tried taking off all USB devices such as mouse, DC adapter etc. and started up but didn't work.
A month ago i tried doing a factory reset, but my laptop seemed to be stuck on the same black screen.
The latest Microsoft update package downloaded 8/31 left me with an unusable laptop. The screen goes blank after entering the sign-in code. The sign-in code has been verified with an alternate computer and is verified as good. How can I get past this point and have windows 8 show up??

My HP Pavillion Notebook 17-e110dx has stopped working for no discernible reason. When I turn it on it says F1 system information and automatically goes to the F1 screen where it displays the sys info. It says press ESC to exit but that does nothing. In fact, no keys do anything. I tried to get to other screens when booting but it won't let me do anything. The laptop is only a few months old and I still have the basic 1-year warranty. Then, it'll finally get to the welcome screen, but before it loads my desktop, I'll get another lingering blank screen with a cursor. Honestly, I'm grateful that my computer is still starting up at all... But is there any way to fix the lingering blank screens? I can load task manager and get to the internet. tried to get to safe mode at startup with f8 but several attempts were unsuccessful. I updated my graphics driver from AMD today and same black screen appears. I also restored sytem to an earlier date using the HP utility with same results - black screen after welcome page.
