HP Pavilion 10-e010nr OS/Software :: Won't Get Past Screen With Logo And Circle Of Dots
Oct 10, 2010
I recently bought a HP Pavilion computer (HP Pavilion 10: 10-e010nr). This was my first experience with Windows 9.1, but everything seemed to be going OK. Then, yesterday when I had to enter my password again, the computer began running very slowly and then seemed to lock-up; it wouldn't do anything. I held the "on button" until the computer shut down and then restarted it. When it restarted, it didn't get past the initial screen that shows "HP" within a blue circle and the small circle of small, white dots shows that it's working but nothing ever happens. I tried this numerous times, but the same thing happens.
When I power up my laptop it won't go past the dell logo. I tried the removal of the battery test. I also tried running the diagnostics test and everything was good. There were no error messages. What can I try next?
I'm not able to get past the initial logo screen. It just hangs, pressing the blue thinkvantage button does nothing. F12 likewise. Not able to get any sort of boot menu. Bootable CD in drive lights flash, no boot.
Have tried:
Reseating hard drive
Reseating Dimms, swapping and plugging in one at a time
Removed battery and held power switch down to discharge
My HP TouchSmart tm2 with the product number of VL618AV won't turn on past the logo screen. I really don't understand why this is happening because it is just over a year old. I have Windows 7 and there are no error messages on the computer.
Inspiron 15R SE 7520..When I attempt to start my laptop it goes to the Dell logo screen and will not boot Windows 8. I've had the computer less than a month and if I have to restore the system completely it will not cause much of a problem.
I've been having trouble with the screen on my HP Pavilion dm4 2070 USA. Half of my screen has some green/blue dots on it. when i open a webpage you cannot see the dots. This is the first time this has happened.
HP Pavilion dv7 with windows 7 home premium I just got it from my uncle who hasn't use it for long time. Long enough where He forgot his login password and there is no guest just his one account. So my problem an what I'm trying to figure out is if it's possible how could I get to the control panel or is there anyway I can create myself an account.
I have a new E1-572G laptop. Long story short, I installed Win 7 on it, and after that, Ubuntu 14.10. I had issues with bootloader, but after fiddling around with legacy/UEFI booting, secure boot, and things like that, I almost successfully configured the laptop. When I selected the ubuntu uefi bootmgr in the bios, in secure boot mode, I rebooted the laptop for what I thought the last time, but then it did not go past the Acer logo. Only combination that works is ctrl+alt+delete. If I remove the hdd, then the acer logo flashes for half a second, and a black screen appears, with a static console cursor at the left upper corner.
I searched a lot in the topic, wanted to reset the bios, but there is no jumper for this, nor can I remove the bios battery. I wanted to reflash the bios, but I could not find proper instructions on this.
My laptop froze and I was unable to do anything so I forced shutdown on it, I rebooted it and I noticed I was on the boot screen for a long period of time (about 10 min).
I ran the System Quick test in the UEFI BIOS and everything passed except
Suddenly my PC started to stay for about 1 miinute at the HP logo during boot time, usually it took only a few seconds. There was no hardware change at the time of period of the start of this problem. These are the things i tried to solve this issue, but without success
-formatting the laptop -reseating the rams -reconnecting the hard disk -changed the hard disks -updating the bios -disabling floppy, CD/DVD drive and network adapter check for boot devices
laptop info intel core i5 M450 2.4GHz ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 1Gb graphics 4Gb ram ( 2 x 2Gb )
I have an HP Pavillion model 17-e019dx running Windows 8. Every time I turn it on, it stops at a blue screen that says
Recovery Your PC needs to be repaired A required device isn't connected or cannot be accessed Error code 0xc000000f
When I press enter to "Try again" it come back with:
File:WindowsSystem32winload.efi above the error code listed above.
I have tried the Recovery and after MUCH time waiting, it still comes back to the above mentioned screen. I have also run all the diagnostics that are available on the laptop and everything come back normal. I don't have the original discs or documentation as I "received this laptop as a "gift/curse" . It is, however, registered to me.
Touchsmart 11 notebook, 11-e010nr, windows 8, no error messages. I can cntl/alt/del and get the lock...task manager screen. this screen works but nothing else
2 weeks ago I began having video issues on my system. At that time, I was able to get to the login screen and right after I logged in, the screen started blinking at a constant rate (about evey second). To fix this, I booted to the Startup Menu (hit ESC after power on) and got the text based menu. From there I could get to the nice little graphical Windows Startup Options Menus. I used that to do system restore back to July and this seemed to work for a couple weeks. Now when I start the laptop, it quickly goes to a screen full of little dots all over and I can't see anything. I was able to get the text based statup menu that listed (system info, sys diags, ..., Starup menu). But when I tried to get the graphics based menus, it immediately when to the screen with dots so I could not do any of the recovery or start up options (like safe mode).
So my wife just got a brand new macbook about a week ago, but accidentally dropped it about a foot or two this morning. The "case" which we got from macmall did practically nothing, and I think one corner of the macbook took the brunt of it.
Now, the macbook won't get past the grey startup screen. I'll see the mac symbol, and then a "no entry" (circle with a diagonal line through it) sign, and then the system will just hang.
I've used the Mac OS X install dvd to use Disk Utility to try to repair the hard drive, but Disk Utility didn't find any problems. Everything was green and good to go.
I'm running the Hardware Test now, but I was wondering if anyone here would have any ideas about what to do next, or what is causing this problem?
Update 1: The hardware test said everything was fine, too.
Update 2: It can boot in safe mode! Everything looks good from the safe boot, I've got access to all the files and everything..........................
My Inspiron E1505 will not complete it's boot. It comes up with this error:
PBR 1...done [XLDR] ATA error
F11 shows no recovery, diagnostic test shows no error. Tried F12, checked F2. I am not that tech savvy but can get around to any instructions giving to rectify my issue. I don't have a boot disk, never can with the laptop.
I have an Acer 8930G, it's knocking on some years (approx 7ish) and this is the first problem I have had with it. When i turn it on, the normal Acer screen shows up and then where it would normally load to windows it just blacks out. There is still power as the all the lights are still working and there is a white-ish light which looks inside the base of the screen. I have looked around on the web and have tried the flashlight on the screen and also removing battery / power cable and holding down the power button for a minute and rebuilding and trying again, but to no avail. I am able to get onto the BIOS screen, and it did look like the boot device in position 1 was the BD drive, I moved this back to the hard drive but still the same....
Despite the ever-present warnings about ensuring one records passwords, I have recently changed my password and now cannot locate/remember the new one. The computer is an Inspiron 1440 running Windows Vista Home Premium. Is there any way I can reset the password?
I have a Dell Latitude E6500 that I have been using for quite a long time. Recently it started acting up, and now it won't start up past the Dell logo. It simply goes to a black screen with a flashing dash. I've restarted it a few times, tried pushing F8, and gone into F12. I tried the Diagnostics through F12, but it takes an extremely long time and has never finished so far. I tried it again this morning, and periodically throughout the test a message like this has shown up:
Error Code 0123. Msg: Error Code 2000-0123 Msg: Memory - integrity test failed. The given error code and message can be used by Dell Technical Support to diagnose problem. Do you want to continue testing?
Yes or No or Retry
I'm not sure what exactly this means, but it keeps popping up. I would like to get through to start up my computer all the way, but that doesn't seem to be an option. Is there anyway for me to wipe it without F8? My cd slot won't open, and I don't have disks anyways. Is it possible to fix it via USB drives? Or F12?
System is asking for password which is not known. how do I recover. Tried to download recovery file to usb from HP Website but can't get it to load from USB when turning on computer.
My Dell xps 13 is stuck on the dell logo screen, since its the logo screen i am not even able to go onto bios or boot option or anything, absolutely nothing has been working? is there anything i can do from here? or should i just send it to dell?
When I open the lid to the laptop and hit the power button, the 3 buttons on the top of the keyboard cycle through and the power comes on, but the only thing that happens next is the screen turns on with a slight brightness, but it doesn't load any further. It doesn't even load to the Dell logo. If I tap the power button again, all lights and monitor goes off with a beep noise.
I have taken the battery out, unplugged the power cord and held the power button for over 15 seconds. This did not do anything.
I have a envy dv6 serial 2ce2502rs6 product b6b49av. It starts up with hp logo and goes to black screen. I tried repair before and it didn't work. I tried the hard restart and it came on and I selected repair and it didn't work again so I selected turn off and now it goes to black screen.
Once unit is powered on keep tapping the F2 key run the diagnostics test . It saysProcessor check passed. Memory quick check passed. Hard drive smart check passed. Hard drive short DST check FAILED.Failure ID OU7ATA-6B877E-QFPK1A-60U503Product iD b6b49avHard drive 1

And every time I shutdown my laptop, I faced a long time shutdown, after my screen off, my keyboard and mouse still on...after about 5-10 seconds then it's all completly off.
I try to figured out what's happened with my laptop, then I change my boot option (F2)
