View 4 RepliesI know Michelle plays around with Acer laptops quite a bit and understands their numbering system.
I purchased a 5517 from Staples up here in Canada past Boxing Day sale for $299 (el cheapo unit)
Acer 5517-5632 includes Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, AMD Athlon 64 processor TF-20 (1.6ghz, 512kb L2 cache), 15.6" HD Acer CineCrystal LCD, ATI Radeon HD3200 graphics, 2gb memory, 160gb hard drive, DVD Super Multi DL drive, cardreader, wireless b/g.
Looked thru the laptop disassembly stickies above and couldnt find this model.
Is there another model that is very comparable.
My Dell xps 13 is stuck on the dell logo screen, since its the logo screen i am not even able to go onto bios or boot option or anything, absolutely nothing has been working? is there anything i can do from here? or should i just send it to dell?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an XPS 13 (L322X) running Windows 8. Yesterday I turned it off with the proper "Shut down" function. Willing to restart it, it never did.
Similarly to the post but without Windows 8 update (nor of other software)!
"I see the Dell logo, then it goes dark (but the screen is on, i can see LED glow at the edge of the screen), nothing happens anymore. If I hit the ESC or Return key I see a progress bar near the bottom of the screen and 'F12 Boot Options' at the lower right corner. There is no indication in the progress bar, so I do not know whether it is showing 0% or 100%. If I do Ctrl-Alt-Delete the laptop starts all over again, Dell logo, dark screen, hit any key, progress bar... and that's it. Hitting the Power button does the same thing, whether I hit it once or hit-and-hold."
I also tried the F12 key, but nothing moves after the "on hold" progress bar. I cannot disconnect the battery, yesterday I unplugged the power adapter and let it run out of battery, restarted but nothing changed.
The only thing I can do is with F2 entering the BIOS but since I am not a tech, I didn't trust to make changes there.
I have a XPS M1530 that has seen very little use but unfortunately won't boot now. It is stuck on the bios screen that displays the dell logo - the progress bar on this page only displays about 15% complete and will not progress any further under any circumstances. I have performed the diagnostic boot option of holding down the <FN> key before power on and this displays just the caps lock flashing rapidly - the flashing does not halt. The other diagnostic lights (scroll and num lock) remain unlit except at the initial boot they flash once as per normal.
As dell has not published the diagnostic codes. The laptop is "as new" if a few years old now and I would like to keep it for sometime to come - the purchase price at the time was ~£1300. One reason I bought dell was for the after sales care - I understand there have been various issues with this particular series of laptop which is unfortunate but I am hopeful to get it working again at reasonable cost.
Been working on my laptop all weekend and took an hour break came back and when the laptop tried to boot up got stuck on the dell screen. The screen it is stuck on has the dell emblem in the middle and has inspiron under that and a progress bar that is completely empty. In the bottom left corner is has F2 Setup and below that has F12 Boot Options.
I have tried to turn it on and press F2 all that happens is the F2 becomes highlighted but nothing seems to happen. I can do the same for the F12. I have tried booting it while plugged into wall and when it's not doesn't seem to change anything. I have left it on for a while now and every few minutes the screen goes blank and makes a few clicking noises and a few of the lights on the top corner of bottom part of laptop flash. It then just gets stuck in the same frozen screen.
The laptop has a weeks worth of very important data I need on it....
My brand new Inspiron 14z remains on the starting DELL screen after boot up.
The initial windows 8 parameters have been registered properly (it seems...) and since the second requested reboot the PC does not go to windows 8. I have been suspecting a hardware problem and ran the full diagnostic (success!). There is nothing into the setup (F2) parameters which looks wrong and none of the boot options (F12) I tried have been successful... Is there a way to run a windows 8 safe mode boot or equivalent (note that I cannot go inside windows 8 top change this kind of option of course), and to move forward?
I desperate to see the someting else than this Dell Logo in the middle of the screen (forever?).
I made sure the machine was not in sleep or hibernation mode, and the user states the machine was fine a few hours ago.
I removed the hard drive but that did not change the behavior...
So recently I was on my laptop, and I walked away to go handle something it died of no more battery charge pretty normal I left and tried to use my laptop when I came home some hours later, and now it will not proceed to my password screen. It turns on and the circle loader just spins I'm putting this up from my phone seeing as I can't use my laptop. I ran some test that told me it failed because my dst drive , or something hard drive 1, system E I'm not really sure.
Sometimes when I turn it on it will say "starting automatic repair" or something I'll leave it on then the screen just goes black, it'll still be running. I really don't know what's wrong with it...it's very sudden my laptop never occurred problems before. It won't even load when I press f12.I have a HP ENVY m6 sleekbook. It's not touch screen. It has beats audio but, it doesn't have a press able beats audio button. No CD/disk drive I can't load disk in my laptop. The batteries built in Model # m6-k010dxHard drive short dst fails extensive test....

I just bought an aspire switch 10 last week, but I already got into problems with it.You see, when I turn it on, the acer logo appears, but then the screen goes blank and black. When I tried pressing some buttons, there is a mans voice and tells what the button I pressed is. Then nothing happens. It's just like that to every button. I tried to turn it of by just having the battery empty. Cause the screens still blank. What do I do about it?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got a Acer Aspire V3 771-6605 with Windows 8.1. My touch pad wouldn't scroll or respond to any finger gestures, so I tried installing the ELANTECH and Synaptics touch pad drivers from the acer support site for my laptop. However, after I restarted the computer I keep getting stuck at the screen right before where you put in your password (the lock screen?). The only keys that seem to do anything are the function keys.

I have already tried the Dell CD and run diagnostics with no problems found. Could it be a software issue or hardware as in malfunctioned hdd?
Dell XPS 12 Laptop.
Symptoms: Unable to load windows 8, unable to load windows repair, Unable to load windows 8 installer DVD, unable to boot into Linux, Unable to load Linux live CDs or USB sticks, unable to even use an MSdos boot USB.
Problem just appeared one day, one month out of my 1 year warranty so I began troubleshooting myself. After replacing the SSD, Motherboard, and unplugging every single cable, even disassembling the display and disconnecting the Windows button, Webcam, and touchscreen cables. Still I Could not get any OS to boot. On a whim I powered on the laptop them promptly disconnected the daughter board and sure enough my OS booted right away. Upon further inspection I learned that the Auto-rotate or rotate lock button had become stuck/damaged due to a fall or hard bump. I ripped off the button and ordered a new daughter board online and all is well now.
So i got this Dell xps 15 from the US through my uncle last year, it is my first Dell, and i am at a loss at what to do, it was working great till a few months ago, it started freezing up at will, i couldn't browse or open files without it freezing, the process was frustrating especially since i use it for work mostly. So i decided to format it and start over, issue is it still did the same thing, it kept shutting down at will and making my work process very slow, 4 days it froze while i was trying to browse the internet on Mozilla it was frozen for about 30 mins b4 i decided to restart it, i pressed down the on button and it has refused load up properly since then, it takes hours to boot and even when i get to the password page and see my files my laptop still freezes up and i have to start the whole process again.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had the W530 for two years and there is an issue when turning on the laptop. I haven't contact Lenovo's warranty yet.
When I press the power button, frequently it shows the Thinkpad white logo against black background and won't load. Windows at all. It just stuck there.
I have already restore the system but the problem is still there.
Oddly, when it does work (which is rare), the "to interrupt normal startup, press enter" appears. Everytime it works, that phrase would appears.
The only components I have connected to this laptop are ethernet cable for internet, USB hub, and external drive hooked up through PC slot on the side.
Laptop Spec:
Windows 7 Professional with latest update
Intel Core i7 3720QM 2.6HGHZ
Bios 2.7

My acer aspire one AOD270 is not booting. After I press the power on, it stops on the initial display of the acer logo. Nothing else happens. The F2 key only makes it say "please wait" and forever.
I have tried to discharge capacitance and staff like that. I have tried several keys/hot keys to no avail including the F12 and altGr+F8 Is it the BIOS and what should I do or is it the RAM because I checked on my RAM and it is in the right place
I have a new E1-572G laptop. Long story short, I installed Win 7 on it, and after that, Ubuntu 14.10. I had issues with bootloader, but after fiddling around with legacy/UEFI booting, secure boot, and things like that, I almost successfully configured the laptop. When I selected the ubuntu uefi bootmgr in the bios, in secure boot mode, I rebooted the laptop for what I thought the last time, but then it did not go past the Acer logo. Only combination that works is ctrl+alt+delete. If I remove the hdd, then the acer logo flashes for half a second, and a black screen appears, with a static console cursor at the left upper corner.
I searched a lot in the topic, wanted to reset the bios, but there is no jumper for this, nor can I remove the bios battery. I wanted to reflash the bios, but I could not find proper instructions on this.
Flashing the bios. I have a Aspire 5810TZ. I boot it up and it just says 'acer' and won't go any further. I went to the download page for BIOS on us.acer.com and it has a zip file with 5 files:
JM4151135.exe FLA... GPC_V135.bin readme.txt FLASH.BAT
What do I do? I have tried copying the files to a USB and powering on with Fn-Esc held down. After letting go of the power button and holding Fn-Esc a different screen appears after 30 seconds. I let go and have given it 30 minutes but it is not doing anything. I have read online from other people the power button should be blinking. Do I need to rename one of the files.
My "open Box" aspire 8920 (Vista) wont startup.. but the Acer Arcade Deluxe will (without starting Windows)
When I exit Acer Arcade Deluxe, the screen shows a logo like XP but says only "Microsoft Windows Hibernating"
My Vista Logo has a round background where XP does not!
I have restarted and it still remains on....a real pain if you're trying to type a report....
It's a Aspire 3502WLCi
when i turn on my laptop acer aspire V3 it says (acer explore beyond limits) then it just says hibernating. How do i get it to stop hibernating?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy mum (bless her heart) has managed to get a cd stuck in the optical drive of her Acer Aspire 7520 laptop. The drawer opens but unfortunately the CD remains inside, as far as I can see it's jammed above the metal casing.
I've search everywhere for instructions for removing the drive as I'm pretty certain that this would solve it but alas no luck ..... which is where you guys come in.
I have an ACER Aspire 5500 which I think someone must have spilt some substance on the keyboard. I have cleaned the motherboard and components and have been able to get it to work again. However the following occurs:-
When booting up when the ACER screen apears the laptop starts BEEPing continuously. If I bash the keys around the arrows and Right Shift and END key section it stops beeping then proceeds to start windows. Everything works OK except whenever I try to open files I noticed the last file is always highlited. When I try to open other files it always opens the last highlited file. I noticed when I opened Microsoft word that on the bottom right hand corner the word END was constantly flashing as if the key was being held down.
I removed the keyboard and left an external keyboard plugged in but the same problem still occured.
I'm reformatting my HD and it gets stuck on 31 of 32 in the cleanup stage. I had this happen last time I did a reformat but I forgot how I fixed it. I have an Aspire 5742 using Windows 7.
