Despite the ever-present warnings about ensuring one records passwords, I have recently changed my password and now cannot locate/remember the new one. The computer is an Inspiron 1440 running Windows Vista Home Premium. Is there any way I can reset the password?

System is asking for password which is not known. how do I recover. Tried to download recovery file to usb from HP Website but can't get it to load from USB when turning on computer.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm not able to get past the initial logo screen. It just hangs, pressing the blue thinkvantage button does nothing. F12 likewise. Not able to get any sort of boot menu. Bootable CD in drive lights flash, no boot.
Have tried:
Reseating hard drive
Reseating Dimms, swapping and plugging in one at a time
Removed battery and held power switch down to discharge
This is a type 2714-CTO R500 ....
I just recently purcahsed a Dell Inspiron 1440 Laptop. It was used. Upon power up, it comes to an administrative password screen and will not allow me to boot off DVD or go into CMOS setup. What can I do to eliminate this situation.

After the updates, I can't do anything except turn on the computer, see the HP page, the green log in with password page, then all goes dark blue and freezes. It will not even rcognize the keyboard to back out. It is an HP Envy 20 all in one desktop. I have removed the back, all looks good, everything is secured and in place.

F11 shows no recovery, diagnostic test shows no error. Tried F12, checked F2. I am not that tech savvy but can get around to any instructions giving to rectify my issue. I don't have a boot disk, never can with the laptop.
When I power up my laptop it won't go past the dell logo. I tried the removal of the battery test. I also tried running the diagnostics test and everything was good. There were no error messages. What can I try next?
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy Dell Inspiron 14 1440 froze and i decided to manually turn it on and back on. I pushed, and held the power button until it turned off. Once it turned off i decided to take the battery out (for no apparent reason). So i took it out and put it back it (i didn't really touch anything). Once i put it back in i tried turning it on by pressing the power button, but it wouldn't turn on. The screen is black, there are no blue lights that are on. (These lights are on when you turn the laptop on).I tried the taking out the battery and hold power button for 30-60secs trick, but no luck. I also have taken out my laptop's ram and re-inserted it (same with my hard drive). Oh and my battery is fully charged. I tried searching the net for solutions but no one really has the same problem as me. Most of the other people with problems said they could hear the fan, but with mine there is noting. No sound. No lights. No working laptop just one really expensive door stop.
