Dell Latitude E6230 :: Pre-Windows Login Password?
Apr 15, 2013
recently i enrolled fingerprint for windows login, but during the enrolment there is no prompting for Pre-Windows Password. But then, when i want to disabled the fingerprint at Pre-Windows or Windows login, it requested for Pre-Windows password.
what is the default? Pre-Windows login password?
I faced big problem to swipe my finger during booting up the windows (Pre-Windows Login Screen)
In the past we've restrict the boot options on our laptops vis bios sequence to prevent unauthorised reimaging of machines. However I've just noticed our newest Latitude e6230 still list all the devices as available despite these settings. Screenshots attached.
I got automatic Windows up date last night. After the updates, I can't do anything except turn on the computer, see the HP page, the green log in with password page, then all goes dark blue and freezes. It will not even rcognize the keyboard to back out. It is an HP Envy 20 all in one desktop. I have removed the back, all looks good, everything is secured and in place.
Despite the ever-present warnings about ensuring one records passwords, I have recently changed my password and now cannot locate/remember the new one. The computer is an Inspiron 1440 running Windows Vista Home Premium. Is there any way I can reset the password?
I recently converted from a Lenovo X220 to a the Dell Latitude XT3. The XT3 is a better laptop minus a couple design choices. That said, there is one feature in particular that I will miss the most....My old X220 fingerprint reader allowed me to swipe with the latop powered down. This action would boot up the PC and log me in. This doesn't seem to work the same on the XT3. Instead, I must power it up then swipe in two separate steps.
Is there a way to get the XT3 to respond to a finger swipe while it is powered down?
I have 2 identical VAIO laptops. Sorry don't remember the model. If important
I will check when come home. But they are last year model core 2 duo. Silver ones
One of laptops fall down. The screen is not functionning (just all kind of lines). It goes to windows prompt( I can see background of login box.
When I connect external screen, there is no output signal. First, I thought that something is really wrong with the board. FN F7 make no changes. But I decided to connect external screen to my second identical laptop. And it not gives any external signal. But when I login to windows I can switch to external with FN F7. Looks like F7 is managed by software inside the Windows. Logically output from the laptop should be during the boot.
What are my options? Don't want to put a nice hardware in the garbage.
I am a Macbook owner for about a year now and since I've had it I've had problems with the Login Keychain. When using Safari it asks for me to use the login keychain every few pages. This confuses me as I never set it up in the first place. Also it asks for me to use the login keychain everytime I launch Skype which is a pain in the . The only cause of this I can think of is that my IT department at college thought it would be clever to set up a login keychain before they handed my Macbook over to me and not tell me the password. I've tried my main password to log into my Macbook and its keeps saying the password is invalid. not a massive problem but still would like to get to the bottom of it.
Something strange happened on my T440s today when I first turned it on...it booted to windows, then I entered my windows login pin, and then the screen went blank/dark instead of going to the windows 8 tiles. so I closed the lid, and it went to hibernate. and when I opened the lid again the screen came back on and it worked fine.
I've got a fairly new T440s for which I've set up fingerpringt reading. I was wondering if there'd be an (easy) way to change the picture displayed on the welcome/login screen. I'm not talking about the background, but the icon in the middle that is currently a picture of a fingerprint.
I looked around at other threads and they either referred to editing .dll files (above my head a bit) or some picture in "C:Program FilesThinkVantage Fingerprint Software" which is not a directory on my machine. I'm running the latest version of Lenovo Fingerprint Manager Pro, and nothing in the Fingerprint Manager Pro program files looked persipacious.
I bought aDell Latitude E6410 laptop yesterday and every time it turns on it says no boot or something. So I push the enter button and it resets. Then when it shows the dell logo again I press F12 and go to the boot sequence and its set on cd drive and not the internal HDD. So I choose to redo that all over again and then press boot from internal HDD and it works no problem but its a lot to go through just to start a laptop. How can I figure out how to change the admin password so I can set the boot sequence right.
I bought a Dell Latitude E6410 with fingerprint sensor, I checked the drivers and I've the drivers for Dell ControlVault w/ fingerprint swipe sensor, and I want to use the fingerprint sensor instead of the pasword to log in in my user of the computer, but I dont know what software I need to do it, what software (Aplication) can I use for that?
I used to be a Dell Technician too, 578260. I got a latitude e6430 given to me from the company I am currently working now Prodagio Software. I am locked out of my BIOS but manage to use the laptop using finger print. I forgot my password and with that problem I am not able to modify anything inside the BIOS. I am afraid to do a reset because I might lose the A08 upgrade.
I arrange of one latitude D620. I have not the access to be able to modify things as the startup of the system in the first one on the CD-ROM because I do not know any more the Admin password. What is the default admin password account of one latitude d620. Either how can i make to cancel the former admin password?
I've just acquired a Dell Latitude D630 that needed a new hard disk. I get the blue screen of death when I try to re-install WinXP and a search on this problem revealed that I might need to change the disk type in BIOS. However the previous owner set an administrative password that I need to use to change the hard disk setting. I've tried a number of things and nothing has worked. I even disconnected the CMOS battery but that just lost the date and time, it didn't reset the password.
I have a dell lattitude e6320 that i just got and im totally locked out of the laptop after one use and a screen comes up saying something about dell sercure manger and asks for a palssword and after u get it wrong 3 times tje laptop shuts down ....
Recently my fingerprint stopped working for power on and Windows login. Fingerprint reader setup utility started to show some strange error followed by empty utility window (see screenshots below).

I have updated all the software using "Lenovo update and drivers" but it did not work (BIOS image also was updated during this process). I doubt that it is hardware fault because I have Linux OS installed as dual boot among with Windows, and no problems there with logging in using fingerprint reader (fingerprint-gui package)...
Im a ENVY 17-j092nr Notebook PC (windows 8.1) pc user with all drivers and OS updates working fine, nevertheless sometimes im getting an annoying error that makes windows vibrate like crazy, the problem is a little odd to explain, it makes the BAR on explorer.exe folder flick and other "content frames" from several software, on Firefox for instance the upper bar which is orange start flicking useless, or in vlc it flicks the same, and then the worst on the windows log screen, that makes my picture flicks fast from the left to the middle several times per second, making impossible to write any password and its especially annoying when simple pass stop working.
Thing that i tried: -Changing mouse and installing video, display, mouse and other drivers besides updating them. -Using Windows build and external software fix and repair utilities. -Updating OS (Why? dk but i was trying alternatives). -Disconnection electricity when this happens didn't work. -Cleaning fan and avoiding any external particle on mouse laser.
