Nov 15, 2014I own a Probook 4740s. It came preinstalled with Windows 8 and HP security tools. Recently I decided to upgrade to Windows 8.1 and in order to do this I had to uninstall HP security tools. I succeded uninstalling and updating Windows. After a day of usage the computer hanged. I refreshed it using HP recovery. As the OS version was old it updated itself after a day or two. The update went fine. After booting windows the next day It started configuring updates. Something went wrong and it failed with : "Failure configuring windows updates reverting changes". It hanged up and never finished. I refreshed again believing it didn't properly refresh. The whole thing happened again.
After refreshing again and then completlly reinstalling windows the problem persists. By this point I refreshed the computer 4 times and reinstalled Windows 1 time. I tried turning off all non-windows services and updating as per this forum : [URL] ... but it didn't work. It failed with:"Failure configuring windows changes. Reverting changes"...

Jul 19, 2014I have a HP Pavillion g6-1b60us notebook pc product number: LW350UA#ABA and for the last few months it has been having trouble fully restarting. Whenever a windows update runs, and my computer begins the restart process to finish the update, it will turn off, but will not turn back on automatically. The screen will go black, and the power light is still on, but nothing else will work on the computer unless you force shutdown the computer and then turn it back on. I've waited overnight to see if it would restart and it would not. I've updated all my drivers and run numerous virus and malware programs to make sure it wasn't a bug causing it, and now I'm stuck.

Nov 10, 2013I have a problem with my HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC, model 15-e055st, which I purchased two months ago with Windows 8 pre-installed. I susequently upgraded the operating system to Windows 8.1 and all seemed to work OK. I then used the HP Support Assistant to do some important updates, which included the BIOS and other software. Following the HP update the computer would not Shut Down or Sleep, but Restart worked OK. When I attempt to Shut Down or Sleep, the screen goes black but the power light and the wifi light on the keyboard remain on and the fan is still operating. The machine will not recover from this situation without me first doing a hard reset by keeping the power button pressed for about five seconds.
I trıed restoring the software to the condition prior to the HP update but the problem still existed. Two days ago I refreshed the computer, which rolled the operating system back from Windows 8.1 to Windows 8.0 but the Shut Down/Sleep problem is still there.

Aug 15, 2014My Envy15-3000 notebook freezes while starting up. It only makes it to the Starting Windows screen then Microsoft icons stop moving. This has been going on since Tuesday (8/12). I ran checks and the memory and harddrive (quick and full) tests came back positive - i.e. no problems. I finally decided to reformat it yesterday (8/14). It gets all the way through the reformatting process until it wants to start the system for the "first time" (I imagine that this will be the last time it restarts in the recovery process) and still freezes on the Starting Windows screen. If I try to hard shut off and try any other boot up option I can think of (Safe Mode, etc.) it says Recovery Failed and asks me to retry, get details or Save Log. When I retry, it goes back to the freezing. As such, I am now in a seemingly endless loop of retrying the recover to get to the freezing start windows screen.
All I want to do is wipe the hard drive and reload everything. I'm not interested in recovering the old data as I have everything backed up. I got no error messages in my Run it, Memory, etc tests, so I am at a loss as to how to proceed.
I have the original drive recovery/windows 7 DVDs that came with the system.

Mar 15, 2014I received my Y510P monday and the performance has been as expected. But Win 8.1 would often freeze, hang, even on restart and shutdown screen where I had to manually shut it down. I have found that uninstalling expresscache seems to have solved the hangups/freezes... I tried uninstalling, clearing my cache drive, and re-installing with latest expresscache version but still the same problem. Had to uninstall it. Is this a compatibility thing with win 8.1 or a hardware problem? I ran Seatools, and the SSD passes all the test EXCEPT long generic. Although SSDLIFE says that it is in perfect condition and should be good until 2022.

Aug 27, 2014I have had this laptop 2 days and today its doing all sorts of strange things. Several times it has gone black screen (not shutdown, just like it had the battery yanked out and lost power). I had one message that there was a problem and windows had to shutdown and gave an error like 0xa0000001 or something.
But even before i had this i was worried. Some of the first things i did was install some benchmark programs. speccy, cpuid, gpu-z. cpuid doesn't show the temps, but speccy showed the cpu cores all running at 80-90 just with windows sitting doing nothing. it highlights anything over 80 as red. gpu-z shows the dual graphics with similar but about 5 degrees lower temps and shows the amd radeon hd 8670M card as far lower temps. a fan inside seems to be on and when temps get above 95 seems to go into high gear. but i have seen speccy showing temps of 106 C!
i think this is what is causing the laptop to blackout and restart; temps going over 105 for any time at all. in short it runs windows, with occasionally even with psu plugged in dimming of the laptop screen. but try and run something, such as an internet connection, plugging anything into usb ports that is powered from the laptop, or browsing the web - not even watching video or streaming just google search! - and the temps jump up to mid 90s or higher.

i searched for this error and most results was meeting my thoughts that the cause for this error is the touch pad driver .
i've installed the latest version of the driver (sp64225) , and it doesn't suitable for my windows so i want a previous version of the driver
