HP Pavilion 15-n268sa Lockups :: CPU Temps Over 90 Just With Windows 8.1 Running?
Aug 27, 2014
I have had this laptop 2 days and today its doing all sorts of strange things. Several times it has gone black screen (not shutdown, just like it had the battery yanked out and lost power). I had one message that there was a problem and windows had to shutdown and gave an error like 0xa0000001 or something.
But even before i had this i was worried. Some of the first things i did was install some benchmark programs. speccy, cpuid, gpu-z. cpuid doesn't show the temps, but speccy showed the cpu cores all running at 80-90 just with windows sitting doing nothing. it highlights anything over 80 as red. gpu-z shows the dual graphics with similar but about 5 degrees lower temps and shows the amd radeon hd 8670M card as far lower temps. a fan inside seems to be on and when temps get above 95 seems to go into high gear. but i have seen speccy showing temps of 106 C!
i think this is what is causing the laptop to blackout and restart; temps going over 105 for any time at all. in short it runs windows, with occasionally even with psu plugged in dimming of the laptop screen. but try and run something, such as an internet connection, plugging anything into usb ports that is powered from the laptop, or browsing the web - not even watching video or streaming just google search! - and the temps jump up to mid 90s or higher.
I have a HP 2000 Notebook Running Windows 8. As of last night it was working fine. Since this morning it will not turn back on. I have tried the hard reset with a removed battery. Nothing happened. No lights, no fan, no movement nor sound.
i set up this thread to compare the temps between windows 7 and windows vista. i googled for it but there's no comparison chart. please feel free to contribute.
windows vista:
idle: 62-65 under load: 77-85
windows 7:
idle: 55-60 under load: 70-80
i see that windows 7 runs noticeably cooler than windows vista. Please post your details so that other users can have an idea about what to choose if they decide to bootcamp windows.
I have talked to several HP techs since pc has been returned (after ruining the motherboard with water). The cursor freezes, so I hard power down (many times) and and restart - have been getting blue screen I did install Chrome browser as per one suggestion.
i've frequantly had this problem , when i start my laptop ( hp pavilion 15n021se ) on the lock screen when i'm going to click to enter my password , just after moving mouse cruser i get the blue screen saying that the error is " invalid process attachment attempt "
i searched for this error and most results was meeting my thoughts that the cause for this error is the touch pad driver .
i've installed the latest version of the driver (sp64225) , and it doesn't suitable for my windows so i want a previous version of the driver
My HP pavilion is stuck on diagnosing PC problems- attempting solution loop after initiatin the automatic pc repair.

I do not possses the windows 8 disc since it did not come together with the laptop.
I searched on the net that removing the battery and waiting may work but it didn't.
I recently upgraded to Windows 8.1 from 8, and it will start up to the main desktop but has a constant loading hourglass running, and cannot click on anything, no icons responsive, only ctrl/all delete. It did say my amd graphics driver couldn't be found. My screen also blinks blue and back to desktop like it is possessed.
I have a hp pavilion g6-1d 60 us notebook , formerly running windows 7 Home Premium 32/64 bit operating system. I'm now using Windows Ultimate 32 bit operating system.
I keep getting blue screens complaining about igdpmd64.sys x00000050. I noticed on the day that I suddenly started getting blue screens Windows installed a bunch of windows 7 x64 updates. Does the recent windows updates can cause this?
At times I cannot even reboot normally when it occurs. I have had to restore to a previous version.
My HP Pavillion dv7-6153nr notebook AMD Quad Core computer, using Windows 7 Home Premium is not working..It comes on, trys to boot, but I got Oxc000000f on screen with message that said: The boot system failed because a required device is inaccessable..Then I got the message saying System Disabled and number 58620517.
I've tried a hard reset (pulling battery, unplugging power cord and holding power button for 20 seconds), then reinstalled battery, plugged in power cord and started laptop by hitting esc and checking all of the parameters listed - (running tests offered - all came back okay). I tried to do a safe restart with the F8 key, but it did not accept and went to normal startup. What am I missing?
I can't get the screen to stabilize long enough to get a lock on an icon for opening a program or the main page.
MY laptop is a HP Pavillion dv5 1223TX, I was having issues so I did a factory reset via recovery manager, I have installed as many Windows updates as it has allowed, I am trying to download software that I was using before reset, like iTunes, Java etc, but I keep getting an error 'The windows installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed' I have tried various downloads to rectify this but to no avail.
I have an HP Pavilion 15z p000 with Beats Audio running Windows 8.1. I want to upgrade the memory (RAM), but I don't see any access panels on the underside of the notebook that would make it easy to change the memory cards. I didn't find any diagrams or instructions in the user manual, and I haven't found any way videos on the internet. I'm pretty handy with computers and upgrading hardware, so I'm not afraid of taking things apart and putting them back together.
I have a HP Pavilion dv6-1107X Entertainment Series notebook. When I turn it on I get an inconsisent series of very loud short beeps nearly always in 3 groups. First group can be 4 to 6 beeps. Second group can be 1 or 2. Third group just goes on and on until the Windows Boot Manager pops up. Once I select the Vista operating system everything appears to start working as normal.
Here is what I have done: 1. Replaced motherboard and CPU 2. Checked and tested hard drive by diagnostic and in another machine - okay 3. Have used a known good hard drive in this machine - same symptoms, no change. 4. Checked and tested RAM stick in both slots, by diagnostic test and on another machine - okay 5. Did a Factory Default recovery - Operating System (OS) behaved erratically. 6. Did a Clean Install using another machine - OS works but same symptoms as above with beeps and Windows Boot Manager. 7. Installed all required drivers as required in Device Manager (after a LOT of problems trying to find the HP driver download support - I had to search for HP Compaq Pavilion dv6-1107AX to find a site that linked to the driver downloads). 8. Have run AVG anti virus, and 3 x anti spyware (Malwarebytes, Spybot and SuperAntiSpyware). Nil bugs founds. 9. Reset BIOS to defaults.
Am also having problems from time to time access BIOS. It takes several attempts but can be gained by pressing F10 immediately after the first screen with ESC option on it. Also have problems access Safe Mode using F8 but perseverance is required and it will work eventually.
HP pavilion dv2000 key board not working . I have enabled the online key board that also not working . As my hp utility cd was damaged I have changed the OS to windows 7 ultimate still . The key board is not working .then I used a USB key board that also not working . main problem is that I could not complete my Os Installation with out entering the pc name. The original Os was Vista ....
I have an HP Pavilion m6 running Windows 7 Home Premium.
My workplace installed a router a few months ago. It's a Cisco E2000. My laptop will not recognize the wireless signal from the router. It recognizes about 10 other wireless signals from other locations outside the office. My phone also recognizes the router and can connect to it no problem. I've installed all the updates for Windows 7 and for the HP laptop. I've also installed the latest driver for the wifi card in the laptop.
I am using a HP pavilion 15 016tx laptop that runs on windows 8. I am trying to update to Windows 8.1, but im unable to do so. I tried it by formatting my laptop and selecting the update from windows store, but it asked me to update windows, which i did, but not the option is not available . I tried to update from Microsoft wibsite but it the store says my laptop is running on a OS that does not support update..
Earlier last month i was able to open the update option but as i didn't had time so i did not use it.
recently installed an automatic update to windows 8.1. Now I get a black screen after the welcome page. I can load task manager and get to the internet. tried to get to safe mode at startup with f8 but several attempts were unsuccessful. I updated my graphics driver from AMD today and same black screen appears. I also restored sytem to an earlier date using the HP utility with same results - black screen after welcome page.
I have a "HP Pavilion TouchSmart 14-n005eo Ultrabook" running windows 8.1. This last Friday my computer got stuck and when I tried to reboot it said that something was wrong with windows and gave me the alternatives to fix it. I first tried to backup trough the program but got a Bluescreen (System thread exception not handled (iaStorA.sys). I then tried to just restore the Windows part (not effecting my files) but I got Blue screen. I then moved on to a full system reset (with my recover DVD that I fortunately had made just a couple of days before the crash) but after completed all 5 discs the computer rebooted and told that the system restore wasn't completed so I tried again, but I got the same problem.
The last thing I have tried is to make a factory reset and now (after the 5 disc) it started to reboot and a information that told that HP software were about to get installed came up. I left the computer to finish the install and when I checked later on it was turned of so i turned on the PC and after the message "Wait" I got Blue screen again (System thread exception not handled (iaStorA.sys)) and the same happens when I restart the computer.
I am having HP Pavilion DV6 6140Tx . Installed Windows 8 Enterprise Edition and updated drivers using drivers for Windows 7 64x from HP site
The problem is that, when i shutdown my laptop, it doesnt shutsdown, it turns off the screen, but not the processor, fan, touchpad, the light and fan movement is ON and it never shuts down. Then I have forcibly press n hold the Power button to shut it down !
It also has a delayed Startup issue! But Restart function just works fine..!
I don't graphics drivers installed on the system - its AMD ATI RADEON 6700M HD - no compatible drivers available !
I recently formatted my laptop to windows 7 ultimate and since then can not get my function keys to work. I've reinstalled drivers that I thought might work and nothing.
When I could no longer adjust my brightness is when I noticed that my function keys were not working. Is there any other way to adjust the brightness on my laptop besides the function keys? If so I have not figured it out.

I returned from a 2 week holiday to find that I could not logon to my laptop. During the time I was away the laptop was powered down. When I enter the correct password to logon I get: "The User Profile Service service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded." message. I tried powering the laptop for 3 hours then tried to logon again but without success. How do I get around this?
I have an HP Pavillion model 17-e019dx running Windows 8. Every time I turn it on, it stops at a blue screen that says
Recovery Your PC needs to be repaired A required device isn't connected or cannot be accessed Error code 0xc000000f
When I press enter to "Try again" it come back with:
File:WindowsSystem32winload.efi above the error code listed above.
I have tried the Recovery and after MUCH time waiting, it still comes back to the above mentioned screen. I have also run all the diagnostics that are available on the laptop and everything come back normal. I don't have the original discs or documentation as I "received this laptop as a "gift/curse" . It is, however, registered to me.
