Whenever a windows update runs, and my computer begins the restart process to finish the update, it will turn off, but will not turn back on automatically. The screen will go black, and the power light is still on, but nothing else will work on the computer unless you force shutdown the computer and then turn it back on. I've waited overnight to see if it would restart and it would not. I've updated all my drivers and run numerous virus and malware programs to make sure it wasn't a bug causing it, and now I'm stuck.

I have downloaded and installed all the latest drivers to date from HP website: [URL] ....
I have already read some forum posts and did some steps like:
1: install latest drivers for Ralink bluetooth device
2: Uninstall the Ralink bluetooth device
3: Disabled Ralink bluetooth device from device manager
But nothing worked for me.

-Freezes on the windows logo when booting up (windows 7).
-Freezes when booting safe mode.
-Freezes when trying to go into recovery tools.
I bought new HP Pavilion 17-f001sm Notebook PC (Windows 8.1 x64), it worked perfectly for 3 days, and 4th day it crashed randomly while i was watching some video, from then it constantly crashes.
Sometimes its black or blue screen, sometimes it just freezes or restars itself, and once i got ''KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOTHANDLED'' message. Also my Dics usage was 80%-100% until i deleted McAfee.
All drivers are ''up to date'', have 2 coolers under it so it constantly low temperature, McAfee didn't registered any viruses, even tried to reboot it but it continued to crash.
I have Hp Pavilion 2000 notebook, on which when i am press f2,f3 for brightness increease or decrease, id does'nt do that. inface all other buttons are performing well, but when i press this, the brighness bar shows on the screen but newither it increases nor decreases.

When I turn it on it says F1 system information and automatically goes to the F1 screen where it displays the sys info. It says press ESC to exit but that does nothing. In fact, no keys do anything. Then, it'll finally get to the welcome screen, but before it loads my desktop, I'll get another lingering blank screen with a cursor. View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with my HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC, model 15-e055st, which I purchased two months ago with Windows 8 pre-installed. I susequently upgraded the operating system to Windows 8.1 and all seemed to work OK. I then used the HP Support Assistant to do some important updates, which included the BIOS and other software. Following the HP update the computer would not Shut Down or Sleep, but Restart worked OK. When I attempt to Shut Down or Sleep, the screen goes black but the power light and the wifi light on the keyboard remain on and the fan is still operating. The machine will not recover from this situation without me first doing a hard reset by keeping the power button pressed for about five seconds.
I trıed restoring the software to the condition prior to the HP update but the problem still existed. Two days ago I refreshed the computer, which rolled the operating system back from Windows 8.1 to Windows 8.0 but the Shut Down/Sleep problem is still there.
Maybe what I write sound something repetitive BUT I am looking for a fix. I have tried to unbrick my laptop with the bootable USB flash with my correct A06 BIOS.WPH file extracted from 1564_A06.exe. After plugging in the Power cord and after releasing the END key that I hold for 3 seconds, fan starts spinning BUT there is no light on Power LED and it stays dead with fan spinning. I have HP pavilion dv7 which won't let me in BIOS to change boot order.
I have windows 8 32 bit installed and it keep booting normally no matter which key (Esc,F9,F10,F1,F2 etc) at start up, is pressed or keep pressed.. it wont stop booting and wont let me in BIOS. All it does it that if keys are pressed it will start beeping but then boot anyway.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI updated BIOS (it's now Hewlett-Packard F.49) with a download from HP's website. I wish I hadn't done that because it made my laptop ill. When booting up it freezes and the only thing I see is the black screen with HP logo. No button works.
Later I've found out that BIOS itself ain't the problem (I tried to recover the old version for long without any success), it's the USB devices attached or the USB ports, dunno. My laptop boots normally and works perfectly if I take off all the USB plug-ins before I press the power button. After the black screen has passed I can plug in the USBs and they work too.URL....
The strangest thing has happened to my Acer Aspire 2930 laptop today.
I shut it down last night as I normally do, then this morning I turned it on and it wouldn't boot. It goes through BIOS and startup, but then it stops. It doesn't start loading Windows XP from the hard drive, it doesn't recognise boot CDs/DVDs. When I go into the BIOS, everything looks normal except the boot portion. There are several options there, but they don't say what they normally say. For instance, the first boot device, the hard drive, is completely invisible. What I mean is that the option is just not there, but when you move the selection around with the keyboard, you can tell it's supposed to be there. Look below for a better explanation. The other options are there, but they aren't recognising the devices. I have a friend with the exact same laptop and her BIOS shows everything as it should be. She's here now and I'm typing this on her laptop because I now have two dead computers here at home.
I don't get it. It's almost like the BIOS somehow became corrupted. I didn' t even know this could happen without attempting to flash the BIOS or something, and that's not what happened. I have never flashed the BIOS on this laptop. Not only can I not figure out what happened, there doesn't seem any way to fix it. I mean, if the laptop doesn't recognise any devices to boot from... I was thinking about taking it apart and resetting the CMOS, taking out the battery. I think that's the best I can hope for at this point.
I don't have any way of cloning the BIOS from my friend's computer so I guess the next step would be to get a new BIOS chip if the CMOS reset doesn't work? The laptop is unfortunately one month over the one year warranty. I read that there's a way to get the laptop to read an external USB floppy diskette drive regardless of the status of the BIOS, you are supposed to hold the function key plus the escape key or something when you turn on the laptop a couple of times, and then it magically reads from the floppy drive. I would have to somehow buy or get a drive, but I haven't even seen such things in years. Things I can try?

As you can see, there is definitely something wrong with my BIOS and I believe that's what is causing the computer not to boot.
Blank display, connected to tv via hdmi and to monitor via vga still blank. Tried with single ram in both slots alternatively still blank. Reconnected hdd still the same. Consulted with a technician, who tells that it is possibly a IC got corrupted (maybe of the vga or graphic). Is it repairable without replacing motherboard. If so then, where do I find the IC. What is the IC model number and what else do I need to do?

The windows 7 home premium Os got corrupted and I had to install a trial version of windows to start my laptop. I dont have the recovery discs also.
Now what can I do so that I can start using the licensed version of the Windows that came with my laptop at the time of purchase?
