I just get to a screen showing the HP logo...the computer tries to self diagnose but never gets anywhere. Just stays locked. I've had this computer for almost a year with zero issue. Suddenly this.

Using Esc and F2 I could do a System Test. The Short DST (don't know what that means...) says: FAILED.....
It gives details on the FAILURE ID : 64SP28-5HB7AC-XD003F-60VF03.... What should I do next?
The notebook is a HP, model DV6-3160SD, Running W7 on it. Don't know the bit-version (and can not check it).....
My HP envy dv7 laptop stopped and it won't start again. It happened while I was watching some cartoons on youtube. I tried to do a hard reset but it didn't work.
The laptop was running on AC at that moment.
It didn't show any errors which could predict an defect. The only thing that was a little strange was that it requested permission to update java everyday, sometimes even 2 times per day. And especially when I was watching movies fullscreen offline or online. But I thought that Oracle is doing a lot of updates.
Does it have a fuse which can be checked?

I was doing some work on my laptop this morning and I was in the middle of working on something. Somehow the screen went blank. I tried to turn it on and it wouldn't let me. I tried holding the on button for 30 seconds, it still won't turn on. This laptop is not that old.
I've had a HP Envy 15 touchsmart laptop (Windows 8 originally, windows 8.1 now) for about 2 months now and haven't had any problems, till a few hours ago i attempted to update the bios of my laptop using the hp support assistant. After the restart, the pc would no longer start up and took me to a blue screen with the error message SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED. Everything I have done so far short of a refresh or reset has not worked and if i could I would like to avoid both as I do not have the bandwith to go download windows 8.1 again.

I performed a hard reset, now when I press the power button the charging light next to the AC power input blinks 3 times (which according to HP customer support webpages indicates a problem with the RAM)...
SO...I opened her up and replaced both RAM modules with brand new ones, done another hard reset and IM STILL GETTING 3 BLINKING LIGHTS and no start u.
My Split X2 occasionally locks on the blue HP logo during startup. Usually a hard restart will work with no other issues. A few times, including today, the hard restart does not work and it continues to lock on the logo screen. I hard restarted around ten times today before it finally fully booted.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHP g7-1150us .....Problem started after replacement of the touch pad/mouse cover. It initially did not power on. I plugged in AC in case the battery was dead and tried again.
Then it started the continual blinking. I tried the hard reset, hitting ESC upon powerup but had no luck. The hard drive is spinning, but not seeking.
I removed the new panel, and put the old one back in and there was no change. I'm confident that I did get all the cables & connectors in correctly.
I thought I may have killed one of the memory sticks, so I tried installing just one. I do not get any of the 6 different blink sequences, it blinks slowly about 1/sec continuously.
I have a Compaq mini 110 which locks me out at boot up and says Enter Current Password Now: After 3 entries, it halts with CNU924630

Everytime I try to start up my laptop it always shows the menu screen saying Launch Start Up Repair or Start Windows Normally. I've tried to do a system restore multiple times, but the screen just stops on a blue screen. No it isn't the Blue Screen of Death, but it does attempt to start but fails and stands on the screen until it automatically or manually shuts down.

I performed a disk cleanup on the C Drive. Please note that the defrags I can perform are done by me and not by a schedule. The scheduler is not working either.
I have only one Antivirus software program on the notebook and I have recently removed many programs from launching at startup.
My Pavillion dv7-4183cl Notebook turns off on its own with no warning or error messages and then reboots asking for the power on passsord, etc. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium. The occurences are more and more frequent as time goes on.

All the lights are on, but the screen is black and the only thing I hear is the fan moving. The caps lock and num lock keys have a blinking light, not really sure what that means. The power LED is on, the battery LED is on, but the hard drive LED is not on.

A week ago it overheated(again), and after that it hasnt started anymore. I press the power button, i see caps light once or twice(yes indeed, when starting it might show once and then next time twice and so on..). startup goes like this: first there will come normally that screen where reads "press ESC to startup menu", hten screen goes black and it should open windows but it doesnt. Instead it makes an restart and does that all the time. Ive ran all diagnostics and those are just saying passed to everything. I have also tried "hard reset" but that has no effect. Also F11 in startup(system recovery) doesnt work.

Whenever a windows update runs, and my computer begins the restart process to finish the update, it will turn off, but will not turn back on automatically. The screen will go black, and the power light is still on, but nothing else will work on the computer unless you force shutdown the computer and then turn it back on. I've waited overnight to see if it would restart and it would not. I've updated all my drivers and run numerous virus and malware programs to make sure it wasn't a bug causing it, and now I'm stuck.
