My studio xps 16 screen appear to be blank and refuses to start up when i powered the machine. I waited and it does nothing, other than maintaining the light on the keyboard and touch sensitive area at the top of the keyboard....

1. Pressed the power button to turn on the laptop
2.the fans run and the computer makes its usual whirring noises as it would normally do whilst booting up.
3.the screen however remains completely inactive. As if the laptop is off.
4. I turned it off and on again several times. Once it came on and worked as normal, I could access all files and backup everything.
5. This morning I turned it back on and it has done the same thing. Makes the sounds as normal but screen is inactive.
I have turned off and on again and connected an HDMI cable to an external screen but there is no signal.
My laptop, an Inspiron 15R, will not turn on. When I press power button, it beeps 3 times. Owner manuel says 3 beep codes mean possible system board failure - chipset error. As luck would have it my warranty went out in December. Does this mean the hard drive on my computer has crashed?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought my Lenovo Y40 on the Lenovo Web site a couple months ago and recently, to turn on, I have to press the power button twice. When I press just once, the Lenovo`s logo is displayed on the screen, but after 2 seconds everything turns off. On the second trying, finally the laptop turns on and the windows is started.
In addition, rarely the laptop stucks on the lenovo`s logo screen, being necessary to hold on the power to reset it.
Am using Delll N4050 more than a year, now am facing some shutdown issues.
Computer details: My Laptop shipped with ubundu and I installed windows 7 home premium.
Processor: Intel core i3-2350M CPU @ 2.30 GHz
System: 64-bit
Problem: For past one year it was working fine but now am facing shutdown issues. When I shutdown my laptop it's not shutting properly (i.e.) power led keeps glowing and fan keeps running until i long press power button to shut it down. But restart works fine. Same problem occurs when I put in sleep mode and hibernate mode.

From a cold state ( computer been off for a more then hour). I need to press the power button twice, Frist press the power button lights and the wireless lights and the screen activate with a glow, then black no lights and black screen press power button again and boots normally and fine No error or warnings
This does not seem to be normal and I can not remember the last time it booted from the first power button push.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy laptop was working fine till yesterday night. I had left it with the power cable connected and it had gone to sleep. Today morning I tried to switch it on but the screen wont show anything. I switced it off (using press and hold the power button) and now the laptop wont start. When I press the power button, the power light comes on, the hard-disk light switches on for a second and turns off and the screen is always blank. This happens regardless of the laptop being connect using battery or power cable. I have tried pressing the Fn key along with the lcd screen key and the screen did show up some tests in a blue screen and they were all a pass. But when i try to do a nromal boot, the screen never shows anything.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an Aspire 5610 with 2G ram running vista home premium. I had a few explorer windows open, and was getting memory warnings. I shut a few windows down, and a few hours later, the screen turned blank. I reboot the computer, but the problem persists. Now it turns out if I remove the power supply, and run it on battery, everything is fine. As soon as I instert the power supply chord, screen goes blank (black). Upon removing the power supply, if I shut and open the screen, it works again (and it also shows me a warning message that the wireless is in use, and if I really want to turn the antenna off).
The screen obviously is fine, as it runs fine on battery. I don't understand what is happening as soon as I insert the power supply, and why upon removing the power supply, I get a warning on turning off the antenna.
i have inspiron m5030 when i turn it on the screen stays blank and then it beeps 7 times, just keeps repeating.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to install Ubuntu on an e6530. I changed a BIOS boot setting from Legacy to UEFI. Now the laptop doesn't even show me a BIOS screen at startup. The screen is backlit, so power is on, but shows nothing. The drive light flickers a few times, but no matter how long I wait, nothing appears.
I can't even switch it back to Legacy because I can't get into the BIOS. Hitting F12 after power on does nothing. Is there some way to get it back to Legacy mode? Or simply reset the BIOS to default settings?
Laptop: Dell Studio 1535, 4gig Ram, Windows 7 (with all recent updates).Over the past few days the screen on my laptop has started to flicker, then just go black all of a sudden. Sometimes i can still see the desktop but it is very very faint. I plugged the laptop in to an external monitor and the display on the monitor is fine, so i'm assuming there is a problem with the display on the laptop. I have done a bit of digging and all the connections internally seem ok, nothing loose.
If i replace the inverter (P927C), would the problem would be solved? Or would i need a new screen cable (P905C)? (or both)?
my Lenovo T410 laptop won't start. I hit the power button and it looks like it's about to boot up. The thinklight blinks on as normal, the cd drive is checked, the caps lock button blinks on, then nothing. No display, and keyboard is unresponsive. Power light remains on; if I leave it a while the fan comes on. I can turn the machine off using the power button, but the problem remains next time I switch it on.
I've tried removing power and battery, pressing power button 10 times then holding power for 30 secs, before replacing power and battery, but nothing happens. I've tried using a different keyboard. I've tried plugging in an external monitor. No change.
This problem appeared after I left it on overnight. I have a hunch that it went into hibernation mode, perhaps, and that it disrupted some important function which it was unable to complete.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Studio 1558 laptop which is currently four years old and out of warranty.
Currently, with or without the battery with AC adapter connected when I press the power button, the power light does not light up but the battery status light keeps on blinking until the power button is pressed. I don't see any boot up screen or hear any sound of CPU fan running in the mean time. Basically, it does not start at all.
I recently got new dell authorized battery as a replacement for laptop fearing that could be source of problem. However, the new battery does no good. I checked the battery health and status and its fine.
Before this issue the laptop would start and immediately on boot screen it would shut down. So, I got it fixed from a repair service center who cleaned up the clogged cpu fan. It worked fine for two days and then the issue resurfaced.
Now, it does not start at all. I even checked with another adapter and also changed the CMOS battery (as date and time kept changing on every boot) but the issue still remains.
Also tried removing and reconnecting the RAMs one after another and then trying to boot. Also tried draining the static charge if any after removing the battery and adapter and then holding the power button for 50 seconds. Reconnecting with ac adapter with or without battery then also does not start the system.
I have an ACER Aspire 5542g and i've had a problem with it lately, when I turn it on, the fan starts running, the harddrive turns on, and the CD drive starts up, the power button LED is on, but all that shows up is a black screen. I have tried the "Take out the charger and battery, hold the power button for 30 seconds", tried switching the RAM, tried taking out the harddrive, and all have been a fail. And I am honestly confused, because some of the time (rarely) it will turn on, and literally everything about the laptop is perfectly fine, and its like nothing happened. Until you turn it off.

This happened to be about 10 times (the first time I spent about 3 days on the phone with a technian) already and I always have to reinstall Windows Vista to get my laptop working again. Today I found out that whenever my computer updates my video drive my screen will go blank, is this normal? What I can do to prevent this from happening again? My screen also goes blank when I install a video driver from the dell CD, but when I uninstalled it in safe mode and restart my laptop my screen is no longer blank.

After a while it shows the Windows desktop and the laptop is ready to use but I cannot see the DELL logo at start up or am I able to get into BIOS. However when I plug the laptop to an external monitor it displays the LOGO properly and I am able to get into BIOS.

My T420 takes about 20 seconds from pushing the power on button to the Lenovo POST screen. After that boot takes about 30 seconds to Desktop. What bothers me is this long wait until I see the POST screen. It doesn't seem normal to me.
My System is setup with Windows 7 64bit booting from UEFI on a mSATA Crucial M500 SSD. It has 16GB of Ram and a i7 CPU. I have the newest BIOS (1.46) installed.
Why it takes this long to reach the POST screen?
I have got a thinkpad x61 with win 7 pro x64. A few days ago I installed hotkeys drivers from Lenovo. On Screen Display problem: when I press volume up/down Button the volume decreases completely. To make louder or dim the volume I have to hold the buttons. All the other hotkeys functions work . why? what I have to do?

However, it doesn't work (in fact, it doesn't react at all) when i press the "CAPTURE" button on my laptop keyboard. Do you know why this is the case? And how can i fix it?
I went to Device Manager > Imaging Devices > Sony Visual Communication Camera and it tells me that the "device is working properly"
My wife was on her Studio 1550 the other night. I moved the laptop a little bit so she could show me something. When I moved it, the screen went white and then it quite working. The back of the laptop and the mouse pad got real hot and smelled hot.
It will not power up at all now with the battery or the power cord. It will not do anything when you press the power button. When the power cord is plugged in the laptop continues to get very hot and actually smoked a little bit once.
What happened to the laptop or if it can be fixed? Did the motherboard get fried somehow?
