View 10 RepliesI received my g51vx-a1 which has an AUO WLED screen which I think is the same as in the 1640.
It makes the middle to bottom portion of the screen to be washed out looking on any dark images? Pretty much the same as any cheap besbuy notebook .....
Is this common with the smaller LCD's to have light bleed ?
Along the top and the bottom I can see some light bleed, my Mac book pro doesn't have this.
At the bottom it looks kind weird, like small little ripples. Anyone else gets this? I wanna know if its normal or should I be concerned?
new screen/inverter/ backlight installed. NEW screen still black, but visible with flashlight. Went ahead and got ANOTHER inverter off eBay and tried that - screen still black. Haven't ever replaced a backlight, and the operation looks delicate (and expensive to HAVE done) ...
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem with the back light of my laptop. I have a Studio 15 that I bought around 1.5 years ago.
I don't know why the back light randomly stops working. When it happens I turn off the screen and turn it on again and it works fine. Any clues on what is happening?
What are the symptoms when your LCD backlight craps out? The screen on my i9300 is black but I can see images, although it is very very dark, like the lcd is working but it's not lighting up. Also when the lcd crapped out, there was a burning smell.
If I do need a new LCD, would it be worth it to replace? My laptop runs great and I'd love to keep using it.
I was perusing my Dell.com account for my laptop and looking at the build specs (Studio 1537), and noticed something that confused me a bit:
1J656HLiquid Crystal Display 15.4WXGA, Light Emitting Diode True Life, 0-2BD, Lg Philips Lcd
and
1M135CBezel, Cold Cathode FluorescentLamp, Camera, HEPURN .....
Windows device manager recognizes the graphics card. latest drivers are installed. running Windows 7.
LCD backlight turns on, however, the screen constantly stays an offwhite colour.
when i connect the laptop to a VGA monitor or to a TV through S-video, it connects and everything is displayed perfectly on the external screen. the laptop LCD is still lit up a offwhite colour.
How do I disable (and keep disabled) the backlight on my XPS 13? I can use fn+f6 to turn it off, but it ends up turning itself back on when re-logging in or coming back from hibernating, etc. Running Windows 8.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI got my E6400 last week and I found that everything all right except the color of LED screen, it's awful.
The color of the screen is pale, i had tried to calibrated the graphic settings but it doesn't improve too much.
Also, i saw some posts here said that the LG screen is better than the Samsung screen, but I can't agree with that because my screen is LG.
Is it normal for LED backlight screen that the color is more pale than the CCFL backlight screen or just the screen of mine had some problems?
I have an issue with my XPS M1730. Intermittanly the screen will go black during use.
It is clearly the backlight going out as on very close inspection i can make out contrast of light and dark areas. Plugging in a secondary screen on duel duplicate mod works fine, but laptop remains black.
The laptop screen will suddenly come back on at random, even if left in the corner with no-one using it.
The backlight failure also happens at bootup alot. I found also that leaving the laptop overnight (when backlight failed to come on) that it will not usually come back on, but within minutes of pluggin in the secondary display it will suddenly light up and work ok. It will continue to work till put to sleep/ closed down...........................
I happen to have two M4400's on me, both have the RGB-LED. Figured I'd take some pictures to compare the bleed on both backlight's.
The one on the left was delivered this week and the one on the right was delivered two months ago.
Curious, other CCFL or RGB-LED M4400 owners, do you find your bleed patterns similar?
I have a Dell XPS M1330 and have tried to find a solution for a screen that just doesn't want to stay at it's brightest setting.
I have adjusted all Battery profiles (including the "on battery" setting) and the screen seems to adjust to lowest background light settings every time I close the lid to my laptop.
I have adjusted all known settings for this, and still no resolution to the problem! Every time I close the lid to my laptop, windows makes a dis-connect sound (notification), you know, the sound it makes when you dis-connect a thumb drive or other USB connection.
I have a Dell 17" laptop and the screen shows this blueish green vertical on startup.
After a few minutes of warming up the line goes away and the screen looks normal. The line reappears on reboot though.
Looks like this is a problem with the backlight/inverter. The laptop is almost 4 years old, but I would like to keep it going a little while longer
my work pc is a Dell inspiron 1520. it is mounted on Ram stand in my tow truck. the problem i am having is sometimes now when im driving down a bumpy road the backlight goes out.
to get it back on i either have to close the lid and open it, or shut it down and reboot.
i was thinking its the switch that tells the mother board that the lid is closed when its not. Is there any way to disable that switch so the backlight is on permantly
I will be calling Dell tomorrow to get my keyboard replaced due to the Numlock light not working.
My current keyboard has not got a backlight would it be possible to get a replacement keyboard with a blacklight?
I recently had my laptop apart to put different thermal paste on the cpu, but now my backlighting isnt working for the keyboard. does that little ribbon cable control that? Its kinda hard to get it to stay attached. If not then is this a normal thing for these keyboard lights to go bad?
View 10 Replies View RelatedMy mom's XPS 1330 just had its backlight give up the ghost and it's of course post warranty, so I'm wondering a couple of things:
1. How much that repair is going to cost and
2. Is there a place that is great for this?
I want to purchase a backlight keyboard for my dell studio 15. I cant find anywhere to purchase it and if it helps i got the stock keyboard.
View 10 Replies View Relatedwhen i woke up this morning one half of my screen was white and the other side was pretty dark.
So I decided to turn the computer off and kept it off for 30 mins. When I started it back up the backlight seemed fine but it still looks kind of dim on the left side.
I have two questions on replacing a back light on my buddy's dell. First is it real hard to do? Second where is a good place to buy one?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI know this question has probably been asked before but I can't seem to find a definitive answer.
Anyway is there a way to keep the backlight for the keyboard on all the time? I seem to remember it staying on before I did a clean install last night
i just got my new M4400 and am happy so far APART that my RGB-LED screens colors seems to be a little washed out compared to the one i had before (another M4400 with RGB-LED).
In addition to that the screen bleeds so that black is almost completley grey O.o ... is this anywhere near reasonable or normal?
My XPS M1330 is suffering some weird LCD backlight issues. It's becoming more frequent nowadays and it is starting to get annoying. What happens is that my laptop would shut down with the LCD working.
The next time I boot it up, there's a random chance that the LCD will not light up. I have to resort to connecting to an external monitor to work on my laptop. And the next time it shuts down, sometimes the LCD lights up, sometimes it doesn't. Recently, the screen also turns white momentarily upon shutting down.
The keyboard backlight used to work, but it no longer does. I have tried Fn+F6, Fn+Right Arrow, and going to C: Program Files/ Dell/ Quickset/ BacklightKB and none of these are correcting the solution.
View 1 Replies View RelatedTh backlit keyboard on my XPS 1645 leaks a lot of light, which is quite annoying in dimly lit environments.
In my case it is mostly the upper row of keys, but other individual keys have the same problem. As not all keys have this problem I assume it is not a design feature.
Is anyone else experiencing this same issue? I have done a search on the forum, but couldn't find anything related.
Is this the backlight? i hot glued the connector and wires in the socket into the inverter....?
I have replaced the inverter AND the flex cable (yes, the part numbers are right)
I have to shake or pressure point the left-middle of the screen for it to stop otherwise it stays unreadable...
when i hook it up to an external monitor...
Alright all you techies out there, I've got a good one for you. Is it possible to upgrade the backlight on my i9300 to an LED? I'm curious if this is possible.
I have 2 Maglite flashlights that I've owned for years that I upgraded from the standard krypton bulbs to LEDs, they now shine much brighter and have much longer battery life than before.
I wonder if it's possible to do the same with my laptop? If possible this seems like a "no brainer" type upgrade for as we all know illuminating our screens has a direct impact with battery life.
I tried to turn it on again by pressing Fn + right arrow key on my keyboard to turn it on but the lights on my touchpad light up as well as caps lock when I turn it on but not the rest.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a dell inspiron 600m laptop and my screen is dimmed out. If I turn of my laptop and restart it, the display will come on for a second ( but it is a little bit reddish) and then I hear a noise and it light goes off, and I can;t see anymore. However, I am sure the computer is still running properly
I am sure that the computer is on, and is functioning properly for two reasons:
1- if it is sunny, i can see my desktop, and what ever I have open, be that a browser, a word document, so on and so forth
2-when i connect my laptop to an external display everything is fine...
