Having spent a while looking at what cooler to get for the 1530 and reading various contradictary things (especially about this cooler) I just thought I would post what I have found.
Due to most of the heat coming out of the top left vent of the 1530 and the layout of vents on the zalman, I tend to just pull the notebook forward a touch, it doesnt slide on the cooler so I dont find it a problem
How are these working with your Studio XPS 13/16 notebooks?
My wife has a 13 and I have a 16, and we're needing to pick up a couple coolers for game sessions.
To be blunt, I find myself doubting that they could provide a truly outstanding performance on the XPS due to the vent placement on the cooler in relation to the intakes on the XPS.
In fact, when I look at a top-down view of the coolers and the bottom of our laptops, the vents really only get about 10% coverage.
Does anyone have any other coolers they are running that better then the zalmans? If they're the best then I'll grab a 1000 for the wifey and a 2000 for myself.
Just looking for some info on the Zalman ZM-NC1000 Notebook Cooler please. I've read a few reviews but none specific to the dell
View 10 Replies View RelatedI got a new 6-Cell battery from Dell for the M1530. I had a 9-cell before. All is well. Only issue is, with the 6-cell, if I place the laptop on the Zalman NC2000, the foot rests are not even. The back right foot rest, is lifted and there is this wobble.
Now, I did check if its fine on a normal, flat desk and the laptop sits perfectly fine, even on all four rubber foot rests.
BUT - with the 9-cell, the laptop sits well on the Zalman NC2000 (and also on a normal, flat table!)
I am confused as to why with the 6-cell it doesn't like to sit evenly on the Zalman???
To summarize:
6-cell on a normal, flat table - all is well, no wobble.
6-cell on the Zalman NC2000 - Back right foot rest (of the laptop) is in the air, hence there is the wobble. * Why?
9-cell on a normal, flat table - all is well, no wobble.
9-cell on the Zalman NC2000 - all is well, no wobble.
By the way, the zalman itself is fine, sitting well on all four corners on the table or on any flat surface!
I've been looking at the 12 cell battery to go along with my dv5t for the extra battery life. I know that the 12 cells battery raises the back part of the dv5t up quite some bit. Would that negate or 'contradict' the use of the colling fan (Zalman NC1000). Since the battery pack is elevate, the full laptop wouldn't be able to make contact with the cooling fan, correct?

Anyw what is the best cooler for the XPS 16?
Since dell refuses to do anything to solve the heat issue with the xps 1645 i am planning on buying a notebook cooler but i am undecided what to pick, was wondering if anyone could give me some opinions...

Which is the best (most efficient) laptop cooler for the M6400?
I am zeroing in on the Antec 200. Apparently more efficient temperature wise than the Zalman NC2000
My XPS should hopefully be delivered in the next couple of days (see signature for specs).
It will be a desktop replacement primarily used for internet browsing, video streaming, watching a few blu-ray movies and the occasional gaming session.
I don't want to go too much into the heat issues, however to be prepared for longer periods (ie 4-8 hours)
I thought it might be wise to invest in a notebook cooler. Having done a bit of research the following seem to be popular:
can you guys recommend the best notebook cooler that will fit for XPS1530.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was playing BF2 yesterday for about 45 minutes online when suddenly it froze.
I was forced to hold the power button to shut it off. When I tried to turn it back on the lights flashed and it shut off. I tried to start it again and the lights flashed and it shut down again. At this point I felt like . SoI unplugged all usb devices and the power cord let it sit for a couple minutes and tried again. This time it booted to a black screen that said your system shutdown due to excessive heat error code #MO44. I opened up the laptop removed the fans and blew out the dust from the machine. The problem is it wasn't really that hot. I know it has been hotter in the past while gaming. Anyway I am going to get a cooler for when I'm gaming. I know there have been threads here before but searching was no real help. I am looking for the most efficient cooler out there for my 1710. I reallly don't care what it looks like as long as it does what it's supposed to do.
I'm running Vista Ultimate and I8KFANGUI my peak idle temps are
CPU: 50C
GPU: 59C
RAM: 51C
Can anyone recommend a good cooler for the sxps 13?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was thinking about buying a notebook cooler, most likely the COOLER MASTER NotePal Infinite Notebook Cooler and i was just wondering if it would increase throttling as it draws its power from the laptop .....
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm looking to purchase a notebook cooler (off of newegg.com or somewhere like that) to cool down my Nvidia 8600M.
I'm looking for something around $50 USD but I don't mind spending more.
Anyone with any luck in regards to a particular cooler that they have used to keep their temperatures down? I want something that will work well with my laptop specifically.
I also wanted to note that I have a 9 cell battery on my laptop and not the 6 cell (if that makes a difference).
My left palm is getting really warm and I need to find a way to make typing comfortable. What cooler do you use on the M1330? I just had the motherboard(A14 bios) & heatsink replaced. It's still really hot
View 4 Replies View Relatedto find a decent laptop cooler for my laptop. However i cant seem to find anything which would be correct for the size. Does anyone on here have any recommendations on a good cooler for the M1730?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have an xps 16 and was wondering if I need a laptop cooler. I do play games but the most intensive one is probably Team Fortress 2.
When I do play it, the laptop does get pretty hot on the bottom with the fan running and everything. Besides that I pretty much use my computer for web surfing, word processing, and stuff like that.
Hey all,
I just got a coolermaster notepal infinite cooler today and have tried it out for 30 min playing left 4 dead. Usually my gpu would throttle due to high temps but it isnt anymore with the cooler, although it is still really hot.
max temps
gpu = 80 degrees c (still really hot!, used to throttle at 84)
cpu = 73 degrees c (much much better, used to reach 84 as well)
So the cooler has helped although not as much as i would like for the gpu. It gets me thinking that without the throttling that gpu could reach 90 degrees easily.
It also doesnt really decrease the idle temps too much, maybe 5 degrees ish.
Overall, it definitely helps, but this laptop is still damn hot, even with the cooler. I will continue testing with different games and will let you know the outcomes.
I was wondering if any of you can recommend a good laptop cooler?
One that can be used while sitting on the couch or in bed while the laptop cooler would be resting on a blanket.
Ive read great reviews on the net about the Cryo LX cooler where some reviews seem to say its the best cooler currently available for large gaming laptops,
i was just wondering if anyone is using one with their M1730 and what sort of results have you had ?
Do the fans line up nicely on the Cryo LX with the fans on the M1730 ?

At the request of some of the people on this site, I am posting a couple of pics of the bottom of my E6400.
Reason being, some would like to see if DELL has changed anything with regard to the thermals as this unit (T9400/Nvidia 160m) is finally running at a consistently cool temp, without the fan constantly going haywire (docked, with two external monitors).
So I decided to buy a cooler after reading everything in the cooler review threads and grabbed an Enermax Aeolus Aluminum Notebook Cooler w/ 250mm Fan. I only have an extended battery and
I can't really tell any dramatic difference so far. I am just wondering what the masses have decided is the best for our particuliar notebook!
What notebook coolers are you using for the M4400? Are there any notebook coolers that would fit this notebook and plug into the usb port (for the fan unit on the cooler)? I just bought a refurbished M4400 and will be using it for some intense gaming
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen you are traveling, and wanna game, or do something that heats up the laptop, you think the Antec Notebook Cooler to go will help at all? Or can you guys suggest any other good portable cooler?
View 10 Replies View RelatedThinking about getting this cooler for my XPS 16. About $35-40 shipped. I've read alot of great reviews on it, and it seems to be the best cooler for use in various locations like when sitting on the bed, on the sofa, on my lap...etc.
I'm wondering if there are any XPS 16 owners who have used this, and can confirm that it significantly reduces the heat of the XPS 16 and, specifically, the spot under the touchpad.
I'm looking to get a notebook cooler for my E6400, as I am sure some other are considered or have taken advantage of. So, I want to find out one that is going to work the best.
I am considering the following:
- Zalman ZM-NC1000, said to be really quiet and effective. From what I gather blows air up at the notebook
- Antec notebook cooler, also supposed to be quite effective. This one I think sucks away the hot air from the notebook
Now the question is, what is going to be the better choice? I think the fan on the E6400/ E6500 blows hot air out of the notebook right? In which case the cooler that then helps in taking that away would be best?
