Dell :: Dual Monitors On An E5500 With Onboard Graphics Card

For some reason I can't search or I would have done that first so I apologize if this has been beaten to death. I placed an order for a Latitude E5500 with 4G of memory and the 2.4g processor.
One question that I asked of the online chat people was if it would support a dual monitor set up with the onboard gpu (I didn't have an option for an upgrade on the 5500).
The first guy said no, my salesperson on the phone said yes, absolutely although unless I buy a dock one of the monitors would have to be my laptop lcd, and just to break the tie I asked another online sales person and he said absolutely not!
I have an dell m1710 xps and the graphics card has died (again). I know there is an onboard graphics card, and I am hoping/wondering if I can use that to transfer my files off the hard drive.
I thought maybe I should hook a monitor up to the machine, but then I don't know how to access the bios to set which card to use - as the screen is blank. I know there is a way but I cant figure it out.
I'm experiencing some weird flashes, driver stops working and recovered, random distorting dots etc recently. I'm 99% sure its the video card's problem. Luckily the display card can be exchanged. But before going ahead to change it I wanna ensure its video's fault. So I wonder theres any way I can turn off the NVIDIA 8600M GT ,use the intel graphic instead, and see if I still get any of those problems.
I don't seem to find any option in BIOS letting me to do so.
I know the Intel 4000 video can only handle dual video, but is there any way have both those streams on external monitors. Â I have one that is extended and I would like to use another port to simply passthrough the interal display signal. Â I am using the series 3 miniport plus which has two digital/dvi ports and a vga out. Â In connecting to the second digital or the vga I get no signal. Â Likewise with the side VGA on the PC. Â I wouldn't even mind if the laptop display stayed lit as long as I could see it duplicated on a real monitor AND KEEP MY EXTENDED DESKTOP on another extenal monitor. Â Seems like an obvious feature for a docking station.
all of a sudden my ONBOARD SOUND CARD is not detected.
all i see is an X mark on the speaker icon.
i cant really pinpoint the culprit but i do remembering doing the latest updates (this is a windows 7 ultimate system btw) and installing WINXP as a VM.
the SOUND BUTTON seems to be stuck. it just stays lit and i cant turn it off.
what i have done so far:
- tried to install vista drivers from hp.com, but obviously am unable to install it since its a win7 system. link to a win7 64 bit driver for a CONEXANT HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO 221.
- tried to do a system restore but fails.
- tried having win7 detect what the problem is and i come with a .reg file which supposedly contains the audio settings but i am unable to install it..
Is it possible to use two external monitors with my T440p (20AW-A08500) with Intel HD Graphics withou having to buy a dock? I normally use my laptop at home with the lid shut and two monitors attached. Â I used to have X1 (still do - now up for sale) and that was happily connected to two monitors via HDMI and via a MiniDP to DVI adaptor.I wrongly assume when I bought the T440p that I would be able to somehow power my existing two monitors from the single MiniDP port.I have seen their is a Lenovo DisplayPort to DualDisplayPort adaptor - but this talks about ThinkCentre usage - no mention of Thinkpads. Plus the price of this adaptor is pretty steep.
I have a T510 running Win7 64-bit. For at least 3 years, I have had the same dual monitor setup (2 DoubleSight DS-1900S) running off my minidock with the laptop closed. The rgith monitor is the primary, running off the DVI port, while the left uses the analog port.  I was away for a week at Scout camp, powered on the system once while I was there, and when I came back to the office, my monitor setup started failing.  Specifically, the right screen is active but it no longer displays the signal being sent to it. When I powercycle the screen, I can see the display for about a quarter of a second, then it goes blank. When the problem first started, I could cycle it about 20 times and eventually it would stay on, until I left the unit overnight and it went to sleep, at which point the probelm started again.  Sounds like a wonky monitor? I have a backup set of monitors that I swapped in, and had the same exact problem, so that appears to rule out a mechanical defect. More fun facts: I can only use the laptop screen as a standalone display. I cannot get the multidisplay control panel to open, even though my left screen is powered up. However, one of my programs that normally launches to my right (main) screen will still launch, but not to my laptop screen. It really wants to live on my right screen, even when that screen is not powered on (I can close the program by accessing the icon bar at the bottom of my laptop screen).
Does the onboard card reader in my my 13-p111 nr X2 notebook (Win 8.1) support SDXC cards in one or both slots (standard and micro)?  Win 8.1 supports the file system, but my 64GB micro sd card is not being recognized in the onboard slot, making me think that the card reader hardware may not support that format.  If the onboard reader does not , should the notebook still recognize a 64GB SDXC card in a USB card reader stick?   I've looked in the service manual for this X2 notebook and it is not specific about SD 0r SDHC or SDXC support.  Where can I find detailed system specs for this machine?
I just received my new t430 and having issue with dual monitors. I am using the Intel HD 4000. I have it connected to a ThinkPad Port Replicator Series 3 (Type 4336). The docking station only support VGA connection. My new t430 only has a VGA connection on the side.
I have 2 monitors. One is connected to the VGA on the docking station. The other is connected to the VGA on the t430 itself. Â While the machine is docked, Monitor #1 that is plugged into the docking station works, while Monitor #2 that is plugged into the t430 does not.
While undocked. Monitor #1 does work (obviously because undocked), but then Monitor #2 does work.  So I know both monitors are working and configured for VGA input. My questions is, why can't both work at the same time? While undocked, I can use laptop screen and Monitor #2 as a dual monitor. So I don't believe there is something wrong with the Operating System (Windows 7).  I used to be able to do this on my t420. With one monitor using VGA, and my other monitor using a DisplayPort. But looks like this model my company purchased doesn't support a DisplayPort (at least don't have the connection.)
I have a T420 that I'm using with a Mini Dock Series 3 - 90W 433710U docking station. I'm trying to connect to two external monitors (both HP 1965's) using the DVI and VGA outputs on the docking station. From the VGA output, I'm running a VGA (M) to DVI (M) into my monitor. I can only get either the DVI or VGA outputted monitors to work by themselves, but not together. When I connect both external displays, it will switch off one of the external monitors (the first one connected).    Both are verified working as external monitors with the T420, just not at the same time. When using the DVI output, I can get dual monitors to work using the ThinkPad display as one monitor and the DVI-connected external monitor as the second. Is there a way to connect to two external monitors from a T420 with a Mini Dock Series 3 - 90W 433710U docking station? Or do you a multi-monitor adapater, such as an Cirago HDX3DV01 to do that?
You can't Change your Graphics card, is there any graphics card that i can use through the PCI express slot, or the the expansion port? the laptop is hp pavillion dv2000 (exactly: dv2132ea) since i don't want to go through the hassle of changing my laptop. I just need a better vga card
if my video card is capable of supporting dual monitors. I was hoping to avoid buying a converter because money is tight but I dual monitors is a necessity for my situation now. I have an inspiron 1720 by the way if that matters.
I recently acquire a VGN-SZ491N from ebay and since I don't really like Vista, so I wipe out the hard drive and install Windows 7 Ultimate from scratch. I followed the following steps and everything works fine except for the video card portion.
A. Install Windows 7 B. Install missing / unknown drivers C. Reboot and install the utilities, in the following order:
1. Sony Utils DLL 2. Sony Shared Library 3. VAIO Event Service 4. Setting Utility Series
After Step C, I reboot my laptop and then able to install Nvidia driver and upgrade the video card from generic one to Nvidia at Speed mode.
But when I manually switch from speed to stigma, nothing happen, so I would like to know what should I do to enable the Intel video card portion and make it work in Windows 7.
What dual band wifi cards are approved for the S410p? I tested a random Intel card and got the following message: 104-Unsupported wireless network device detected. System Halted.
I am currently using a HP DV6-7014nr with Windows 8.1 installed and all of the stock parts out of the box. Â I have noticed that the stock internal wireless card does is not dual-band. Â This is a very huge issue with my current situation, in which I cannot take advantage of the possible bandwidth at my regular location nearly as well as if I had a dual-band card installed. Â The warranty is already up, so I'm not concerned with voiding the warranty, I just want to know if the card I'm looking at will operate correctly inside the laptop. Â I was going to purchase a Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 HMWWB wireless card for my laptop, and I need to know if this card will operate correctly with inside my laptop. Â
This is a long winded question so bear with me. Both me and my friend, have Dell XPS M1710 laptops.
mine has the Go7900GS 256MB, and my mates has the 7950GTX 512MB, Graphics cards. have been thinking about an upgrade to a XPS M1730. The base model of the M1730 comes with a single Go8700gt 256MB card in it.
my question is this card any better than our older ones at DX9 and DX10 Games?? there is also an SLI option for the 8700gt, again how would this compare to our older cards??
I have an M90 and my FX 2500M has memory failure. I upgraded the M90 with a T7600 CPU, 4GB Ram, and it is running Vista Ultimate 64. What do I need to do to run the FX 1600M? Any other suggestions on cards is appreciated. I use it for 3D solid modeling and mechanical design.
I got this new xps studio 1340 and I noticed in the device manager that the display adapter is NVIDIA 9400 MG instead of g210 (n10). I also checked the Nvidia control panel and it said the same thing. I also installed some gpu detector (GPU CAPS viewer) and it said the same thing .....

I have an inspiron 1720 which came equipped with an Nvidia 8600m GT. I have had it for a few months but recently found that my laptop says that I do not have a graphics card.
I went to Personalization>Display Settings>Adapter and found that it said my chip type: <unavailable> The same for adapter type, DAC type etc.
Also it said that my total graphics memory was <unavailable> and that my dedicated video memory etc was N/A.
My trusty (out of warranty) XPS M170 has given up the ghost shortly before its second birthday. I'm fairly certain the GeForce Go 6800 Ultra is shot; there was a moment of heavily corrupted graphics followed by a BSOD, then nothing more on the LCD since (backlight still working fine). The VGA output has small green lines over the picture.
I'd like to get another year or two's use out of this baby. I hear the M170 can take a GeForce Go 6800, GeForce Go Ultra 6800, GeForce Go 7800 GTX or an ATI X300. I'm happy to put any one of those in the machine; I really just need solid 2D performance. The ATI would be perfect but I have no idea where they can be bought from.
Is there somewhere reliable from which I can source a new graphics card? I have dropped an email to Dell as their UK site doesn't seem to have spare parts. The US site seems to have a slightly ovepriced 6800 card, which I wouldn't mind resorting to if necessary.
can I install the latest ATI drivers from the official site, or do I have to get them from the Dell site?
(Actually..i can't seem to find them on the ATI site :S Does this mean you have to wait for Dell to update? Or am I just not looking in the right place?)
I've been having a problem with my xps gen 2 laptop lately. I was using it the other day and closed the lid and let the system hibernate while I was at work, when I opened it up again it looked like the video card was artifacting. (It has a 6800 ultra in it) I don't use the system to game anymore, its just my daily laptop and it doesn't do alot of video intensive tasks. I ran dell diagnostics and it said it was experiencing errors writing to memory. Every once and a while I can start the system and there is no artifacting. I'm pretty sure the video card is fried because it artifacts while posting, and on the external screen I tried as well. I pulled apart the system to clean it (it wasn't to dusty, I blow it out with compressed air a couple of times a month).
Also I removed the graphics chip and reseated it just to make sure it hadn't come loose or anything. I just want to be sure before I spend the money to replace the graphics chip. I'm probably going to replace it with an x600 since most of the things I do aren't graphics intense and I plan to get a new laptop some time next year.
