I'm looking to get the Studio 1555 and the only thing I'm not sure on right now is which battery to get.
Is it true that the 9 cell sticks out the bottom a little bit? I would just go for the 9 cell, but I use my current laptop on my lap a lot and I'm worried that if the battery sticks out the bottom it would be uncomfortable since the laptop would be resting on two points rather than the entire bottom

What are my options for a sleeve that is tougher than some thin neoprene p.o.s. ? I am going to use the sleeve and then put it in my backpack with books so it needs to be pretty durable
Dell recently added an option to get the Studio XPS 16 without the leather on the side (the leather's now 40 extra bucks). Anyone have pics who has bought this version?
As I took my Dell Studio 1555 apart to upgrade the cpu (not a job for the feint hearted!) I took some photo's of the mainboard and HS/Fan.
If any of you have noticed high temps in HWMonitor on one of the ACPI I have tracked it down to be related to the GPU. Well when you look at the Heatsink you will see why!
Thermal pad on GPU Tiny heat sink with copper bar which sticks to the back of the fan assembly Tiny noisy fan
Can anyone who recently purchased an XPS 13/16 confirm whether or not they received the fast access cd and microfiber sleeve? I bought an XPS 16 and was told bya tech that fast access is not available as a disc and that the sleeves are no longer being shipped with the systems.
01/28/2010 02:09:09PMAgent (Adi akhil_199538): "Well we don't have the disc for the fast access and we made it easy for our customers to download from the site." 01/28/2010 02:09:38PMAgent (Adi akhil_199538): "And regarding the Microfiber Dell Sleeve, Dell use to be ship the Sleeve long back and it is been stopped."
here's the skinny. After what seems like an eternity I've finally got this bad girl in my hands. The screen will blow you away, well for me at least. The edge to edge display looks just beautiful and at full brightness it has enough light energy to power 25 homes for 2 years. The hinge design is awesome. Other than the paint job and the edge to edge display I'd assume it's pretty much like a regular studio.
Speaking of which....it's a fingerprint magnet, but that's to be expected. I'm afraid somebody will end up lifting one of my prints with a piece of tape and logging into my computer. I like how the black and red meshes together, not too bland but not too extreme either. Besides the keyboard and the red bezel around the screen the entire surface of the notebook is glossy, I'd describe it as piano black.
I'm surprised at the level of crap. It's actually minimal. Right now I'm contemplating doing a clean install, but I want to go x64 because I don't like having 1gb being wasted. But the average user won't need to do a clean install.
There are a couple of quirks though. The touchpad takes a bit of getting used to, it felt kinda rough and hard to use at first. I'm noticing a bit of keyboard flex across the board.
So yea, overall I like how it looks and feels. It runs like a bat out of hell with minimum tweaks to the factory install. I'd recommend it over a regular studio 15 any day.
just got my Studio's palm rest replaced today since the touchpad freaked out after I accidentally spilled water on it, thank God for complete warranty.
However, the replacement palm rest seems to have the pattern on which came with my old Studio, the graphite pattern. Here are some before and after pics, and some pics showing what happens when the media panel does the all buttons stay lit glitch.
This an example of the later palm rests. However, I had this on my Studio before the palm rest change because I received a replacement which had the newer palm rest. So, this is the before picture .....
how long the 85 WHr Lithium Ion 9-cell battery lasts while surfing the web/word processing and how much it sticks out of the computer? I am probably buying one and I would really like to know.
Just in case anyone wants it, you can get the 9-cell extended battery for the Studio XPS 16 for $59.99 on sale. It's on sale for $79.99 right now and if you apply this additional 25% off coupon it will be only $59.99. Great Deal!
I have an XPS m1330 (T7500, 3 GB RAM, 8400M GS GPU) and had a bad 6-cell battery that wasn't holding charge.
Dell sent me a replacement, but they've sent me a 9-cell which I don't want b/c it's heavy, adds bulk and most importantly, the angle on the laptop REALLY hurts my wrists... but apparently they won't send out 6-cells as replacements anymore, just 9-cells.
I'm wondering if there's anything I can tell them to get them to send me a 6-cell without having to put my 9-cell on ebay or something .....
I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 for about 4 years almost. I have 512MB but am going to buy the 2GB ram from newegg because it is very slow.
I am also formating my laptop as well as my desktop. Most of the time i use my desktop but for my laptop i bought a charger that was CHEAP and i think it messed up my battery life a bit.
I just purchased a new charger from Dell and will throw away the bad charger i have.
My battery life in my 6000 is about 40 minutes. It used to be 2 hours and 30 minutes when i first got it. A few months ago it was actually 1 hour and 20 minutes. My neighbor has a e1505 and his battery lasts like 5 minutes now so all he does is use his charger.
I see on Ebay from reputable sellers that the 6 and 9 cell battery price is pretty close. 6 Cell is about 44 dollars and 9 Cell is about 48 dollars.
i am having a hard time deciding my configuration for a inspiron 13"
i noticed that the Refurbished laptop have a Great price $609, 2.0 intel core 2 duo,4gb,320gb,6cell,Dell 1395 802.11G Wireless Mini Card.
For that price it seems to good to be truth, but i have no experience with refurbished laptop.
What is causing me confusion is, if i should go for a new laptop that has ,2.0ghz(same cpu), 3gb,250gb,intel next gen wireless N, 9 cell battery for $779, all because the $10 for the wireless and 70$ for the battery and it has a 195$ discount already of the original price.
so i know that the 6-cell battery lasts about 1h:50mins just doing light stuff such as web-browsing and word processing(maximum brightness, power saving mode). Anyone have any ideas how long the 9-cell can last while just watching movies??
I have an HP Pavilion dv6000. When I purchased the laptop, I chose a 12 cell battery, and it has a sticker on it that states: Replace with 451864-001. My battery went bad, and I purchased a replacement at the HP Parts Store online. I specifically chose a 12 cell replacement, which brought up the same part number, i.e., 451864-001. However, when it came in the mail today, the battery looks like a 6 cell, as it's about 1/3 the size of the old 12 cell, despite my purchase receipt which states that I ordered a 12 cell and the packing slip which also states that HP shipped a 12 cell. The model number of the old battery is HSTNN-DB32, and the model number of the new battery is HSTNN-DB46. Unless they were able to shrink the 12 cell to make it resemble a 6 cell, I'm pretty sure I received a 6 cell, despite the notations in the purchase order and packing slip. This is a long way of asking, is there a tool that I can install that will tell me how many cells are contained in the battery? The battery, itself, does not state how many cells it contains. If it is a 6 cell, as I suspect, HP will be getting it back.
hey everyone im a new Dell E6400 ATG owner and was wandering what would be a better option for my money? I already have a 9-cell battery and was wondering should I go with another 9-cell or get the 12-cell battery for extending my run time?
I am planning to buy a dell vostro 1520 laptop but I am not sure if I can go for a 6 cell or 9 cell battery.
Will the laptop be projected at the back side if it is loaded with a 9 cell battery? Mine is 240v input current so should I go for a 65w ac adapter or a 90w ac adapter?
Can I go for a 6 cell battery with 90w adapter or a 6 cell battery with 65w adapter? could anyone plz give me comparision?
