Does anyone have a good tip to get hd playback smoothly on this machine? It has a AMD Sempron SI-42 2.1Ghz single core cpu and im worried it is not enough. Im wanting to play it through the hdmi interface through my tv.
I know its a AMD socket 1 cpu so what other cpu's could i put in like Dual core or quad?
I just purchased this item a few days ago and realized that it only came with wireless b/g.
I have an Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN card that I would like to swap in, but there are only two wires. One black, one white. The Intel care requires a grey one as well.
So my second attempt was a Dell 1505 Draft N card that I had lying around, and it only requires two cables. The black and the white. So I installed it, but upon reboot, it states there is an unsupported wireless card and I need to remove it to continue.
Does this system have a locked BIOS that will not let you alter the system from factory specs?
Or can someone recommend a wireless N card that will work in this system. It is only used for work, but at home I like to work in my office upstairs and my router is downstairs. The signal from the b/g adapter in it current sucks.
I tried to install Windows XP sp3 in it.. since the dvd-drive of CQ60-100EE had problems, i removed the Hard disk > fixed it in my other laptop and installed XP > then fixed the HDD back to CQ60-100EE.. now when i switched on the laptop, a blue screen appears after Windows XP boot screen.. and then the laptop restarts.. (the blue screen appears just for a fraction of second..) , the laptop starts normally in SAFE MODE.. no blue screen appears while it is starting in safe mode.. Also i have difficulty in finding XP drivers for CQ60-100EE..
My little brother owns this notebook and it get rather hot when used.
It has a Intel Celeron 575 running at 2,00 GHz and a Intel GMA 4500mhd on a Intel GL40 mainboard. It reports that it runs at 60c when idle, but it feels very hot when in use.
Even my own system runs cooler and it includes a ATI Mobility X1600 that can get a little toasty when in use.
i bought a new laptop the other day and this is the specs :

i purchased over 8 months ago. The thing is, when i first bought this item, i had no problems with it, untill i installed windows 7. Now it turns off, overheats, and goes really slow. I have 1 years warranty so what would i go about sending it to? hp?. Does any1 know there details?
I got XP working with relative ease on this laptop (even the blue LED for Wi-Fi thanks to this forum) and I thought I was home safe. This morning however I realized that when the laptop comes out of sleep the sound is not working.
XP works great on this laptop. With IE running I only have 376MB memory use, 26 processes and the CPU idles @ 0-1%

im having a problem with my laptop and HP/Compaq techs cant fix it unless if i send it to them which is going to take along time and i use my laptop heavily
my current bios is F32 system Board ID is 3612 , and there is no way to upgrade the bios to newer versions through windows or through the Win+B on power recovery.
on windows i can only apply F32 using insydeFlash , if i tried a new bios version it gives me "verify error" and trying the latest couple i guess they are F50 and F52 using isydeFlash , when ever it starts , the insyde flash program window disaprears and the system hangs for ever " taking the battery and the Adapter power will shut it off"
using the Win+B recovery on power , i tired all the versions availbe on compaq website , the same issue , it starts beeping slowly then faster and faster then shuts down i turn on the machine get into bios , its still F32.
The network driver should be a Atheros 5007E, For some reason its not working. I got this laptop free and seeing i have a Enterprise edition of XP. I figure i'd wipe out this old VISTA.
where to get XP drivers for this card? As the other drivers i've figured out already.
I just bought a Compaq Presario CQ60-216DX laptop, which came with Vista installed and I need to downgrade to Windows XP (for work purposes). I can't seem to find a Windows XP driver for this model and am waiting to downgrade until I know if I need one / if there is one.
my questions are:
1) Is there a Windows XP driver for the Presario CQ60-216DX laptop?
2) If the answer to question 1 is no, is there a comparable driver to use?
I am hoping to upgrade the above notebook to 802.11N but I am having trouble finding information on what internal cards will work for it. It is an AMD Athlon X2 sytem wiyh an Nvidia nforce chipset running Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit. The card it uses currently ( an 802.11B/G) is an Atheros 5007 based card (part #459339-003). HP/Compaq does make a Atheros 5009 based 802.11N card (part# 482260-001) but it is in short supply and those place that do have it are prices as well as no way to verify it would work with this model as HP customer care would not give a part number via e-mail and directed me to their 800 number to place an order(). I also have heard some issues with the 5009 based cards . I have been looking at an Intel 4965AGN and a Broadcom BCM94322MC but no way to verify it would work with my computer. One seller on E-bal says the Intel unit will not work with HP/Compaq computers but in google searches I have found some HP use this Intel card/chipset in their WLAN card
My keyboard and trackpad on my Compaq Presario CQ60 notebook are not responding and don't have any external devices to see whether this is an internal matter. Cannot restart in Safe Mode as keyboard does not respond, however it allows me to type in my password to access vista! I think I have just locked the computer, but don't know how to unlock it, various forums have specified reinstalling drivers etc. but I am unable to do this with no working keyboard and do not know how whether I have pressed a combination of keys which have caused this. I am not sure whether this is a Vista problem or a Compaq/HP problem.
my computer, compaq presario CQ60, which orinionally ran vista ) updated the windows automatically and now the display is blurry and the icons and sign in screen are too big for the screen. it does not give me an option to change the display change the resolution. is it possible to go back to an earlier version of windows 8 ( i bought it online when vista stopped working).
Basically just moved house and got Eircom broadband installed, my girlfriends laptop connected automatically, whereas my Compaq CQ60 Presario Notebook WindowsVista will not connect.I have checked so many different forums trying to fix this problem, but to no avail im afraid... it looks like there is an excellent internet connection.... but cannot go on the internet because it says "Unidentified Network local access only"
The router I have is "atheros AR5007 802.11b/g WiFi adapter", and the o/s I have on my laptop is Windows Vista 32 bit.
In our previous residence we had UPC broadband, and I had no problems at all connecting.
I have been sent 2 system recovery dvd's and one supplemental disc by hp. I put them into my drive and nothing happens. How do I start this procedure? I thought maybe all that I hav to do was wait until it started automatically (didn't happen) or click on the Boot option - nothing happens there either. I Have an HP Compaq Presario CQ60 Laptop with Windows 7 home premium. What to do? I am NOT a very sophisticated computer user. I need to do the recovery as I've had a total crash.
I have a Compaq Presario CQ60. The Display does not appear to be working. When I turn on the laptop the display remains black. No boot up screen, nothing. I can't go into the bios because I have no screen. The screen remains black. The harddrive appears to be working and all other functions appear to be working but I am not sure because I have no screen.
Is this a known issue with the Compaq Presario CQ60?
first laptop i've gotten with a 17" screen. don't normally watch dvd's on computers but it supports blu ray and i'd like to give it a whirl. what all is considered the best program for playback and what is the recommended aspect ratio and whatnot? same question for just basic avi tv/dvdrips.
I have a DV5 1010TX, with a Bluray /DVD combo BC5500S. I tried Win 7 to find that the Blu-Ray playback using Media Smart DVD from the HP website is unstable & essentially unusable. With Vista the playback using QuickPlay is faultless.
I have a friend who brought the DV2-1027 (canadian version, maybe I make a mistake with the exact model number) with staples. When we start a movie from the external DVD, there's no sound that I can't hear but I hear sound on windows or on youtube for example.
Do you have an Idea about what it is ( tomorrow I will update the graphic card driver to verify if this is the problem, if not I don't know what will be the problem.
I have an HP HDX 16T with a P8400 at 2.26GHz and 4GB ram.
The video is nVidia 9600M GT driver 7.15.11.7622 with 512 dedicated memory. The TV is a Sony 46" Bravia KDL46V2500 1080P LCD connected via HDMI.
I have an MKV file that is 1080P & 8.4GB in size that will not play correctly.
The video is choppy and the audio out of sync.
I downloaded the latest versions of the following players/codecs.
KM Player BS Player VLC Player CoreAVC SM Player
All of these exhibit the behavior, some not as bad but all have an issue playing the files. In fact it seems to be any 1080P file that gives me issues.
All of my 720P play fine with any of the players listed above.
Is my hardware not up to the task? I know HP offered a blueray drive as an option so surely this computer should be able to play 1080P....
i own 3 hp laptops, one is 6730s with low specification:
intel celeron 2G., 1G. ram, 160G. Hard, and intel graphics. few weeks ago i noticed some of my videos hang up and cause total crash. first it didn't concern me much, i though it is just software problem. but yesterday i tried to solve the problem; first thing i do is to reinstall media playback software, but the problem persist, i even tried different software without success. then i suspect driver problem, so i wen to hp site and downloaded latest intel graphic driver and again no luck. i decided to reinstall OS (Windows XP Professional SP3 clean install), everything went O.K. and i update many drivers including BIOS, then i installed media player and firstly it went well be after a while to problem arise again! the only way to get video playback normally is to go to advanced display setting and minimize hardware acceleration to disable 3D acceleration. what surprise me is games run O.K. at maximum hardware acceleration.
I recently picked up a Compaq Presario CQ40-332TU - it's pretty much a bottom of the barrel bargain laptop, I know, but I was pleasantly surprised at how well it handled playback of 720p video, even output over HDMI to a 720p HDTV.
The relevant specs are as follows:
Intel T3400 (2.0GHz) 2 GB RAM GMA 4500MHD
Running video through:
Quicktime 7.6.4 VLC 1.0.3
My question is, can this computer play 1080p video? My understanding of the integrated video card is that it SHOULD be able to handle 1080p playback quite smoothly. However, I can't ever seem to get it to run for more than 10 seconds at a time without dropping frames and getting video lag and severe ghosting / pixelization and artefacting. I'm currently running the RC1 of Windows7 (I'm waiting for the prices here in the Philippines to drop as they're a bit exorbitant)
