View 3 RepliesI got my laptop a yr ago using such coupon, and now my friend is looking to buy a dv3t. I am curious if HP still once in a while throws such a deal out? Its been a longggg while since I saw that kind of coupon last time. I am waiting for such coupon to come out to order friend's new dv3t.
View 10 Replies View RelatedWireless G and Wireless N. What is the difference? I know that N supports faster speeds and have heard that it's likely going to become more of a standard in the future. My question is, will it work like any other wireless device? I don't want to get it and find out it needs some sort of special connection.
Also, graphics cards. I see a whole lot of debate about this here, and not really a 100% clear answer to anything. I'll be using Photoshop and other digital art programs, and running Windows 7. I don't do serious computer gaming, and the most 3D-intensive game I might ever run would be something like the Sims- and that's an "if".
Would dedicated graphics have any significant advantage for me? I've been configuring with the Intel, but I don't want to sell myself short and regret it later, especially with something that can't be changed.
On the other hand, it's also important to me to have a cool-running computer, so if the added heat and power consumption will outweigh the benefits it'll probably be a deal breaker.
Since you have all been buying XPS systems I was curious where the best coupons or deals are located. I am interested in an I7 XPS 16.
So far the best deal I have found is: Save $224 on this Studio XPS Laptop!
Expires Thursday, October 29, 2009
I guess that is pretty good but I keep thinking there might be better next month for xmas or that I am missing something.
i got one when i was buying a laptop from these forums, so i figured i'd pay back the love.

The 15% off outlet coupons are gone now, right? I just found a good SXPS 1640 8gb ram system..
View 10 Replies View RelatedI really like the Dell Studio 17 I have, but it is defective in the sense of the screen scratched and the drive scratches discs. If I call Dell, like last time, they will send me a replacement Studio 17, but it will be refurbished or not new. I don't like that.
What websites feature the BEST Dell coupons to bring the Dell Studio 17 price down? I got mine fully featured for about $1,340 on Dell's 30% off sale. I miss that sale because Dell doesn't do coupons for the Studio line of laptops, only Inspiron and XPS. They have offers, but when I spec out each offer, it comes to about the same amount which is higher.
I DO NOT want to deal with Dell on the phone, that's for sure. Last time I did that, they were very confused putting my Dell order together and price and spec'ed it wrong.
I also want top specs but for the 30% or more off price liek before because an outdated chipset in the Studio 15/17 is NOT worth over $1,600+.
I was planning on using a coupon at the dell outlet to get a better deal, but today while looking for the perfect system for me I saw this:
ABOVE PRICES INCLUDE ANY APPLICABLE DISCOUNTS. All systems refurbished. Supplies limited to stock on hand. Offers subject to change, not combinable with all other offers. Taxes, shipping, handling and other fees apply. Purchase limit of 5 systems/customer/week. For Dell Outlet U.S. purchases only. Dell reserves right to cancel orders arising from pricing or other errors.
Does this mean I can't use a coupon code?
Are there any new ones out yet?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI want to purchase the dell studio 14z but am looking to get the best price possible.
Do you think if I wait dell would most likely have a back to school sale for the 14z as it is marketed towards students?
Right now I can get 170 dollars off (E-value and EPP). Should I wait or bite the bullet?
I'm about to order a Studio 15. It looks like the EPP exclusive one is easily the best deal, but I'm waiting to see if a 10% coupon comes out. I've seen older post where people mention usiing them. So I've got two questions:
1) Do the coupons stack with the 7% off discount?
2) How often do these coupons come out?
if anyone here knows of any Sony coupons that would work on the Vaio FW series.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm thinking of purchasing the M6400 laptop. I cannot stand my current laptop anymore, the Inspiron 9300 . It doesn't suit the tasks I'm involved with... it was handed down to me by my brother who is a programmer while I'm in the graphics/media field.
So I was wondering if any of you know where I can buy the m6400 for the cheapest price? or perhaps any coupons or deals that you may know of.
I'm a student and can't afford the m6400 at the current price on dell's website or without any coupons or deals...
Also I was wondering what is an alternative laptop to the Dell M6400. I'd love one with a smaller screen size but with a similar performance, although there can be some compromise. I will be using the laptop mainly for architectural renderings, 3d modelling, animation, graphics, multi-tasking between softwares etc... I'd like one with 8GB Ram (no need for ability to upgrade to 16GB etc like the m6400)
I'm hoping the alternative will be much cheaper than the m6400 due to the smaller size, and lower specs etc.
I talked to the dell help guy and he recommended the XPS studio 13 model... i don't trust him as he didn't seem too knowledgeable...
I have got Notebook Compaq Presario.. I cant connect to the internet using the wireless connection.. the reason is that i accidentally did some operations, and cannot switch on the light on the front panel of the notebook.. it does not work, i mean the light of the wireless connection button does not light.... View 5 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone have a good way to OC this laptop other than using ClockGen? I am basically wondering if there is a BIOS option. I know there are some OC guides out there, but this laptop is almost 3 years old, and as far as I can tell does not have an option in the BIOS. Also, my proc is the T2600, not the one is this review, but other than that exactly the same. I am looking to play around with this because it is old and I dont care too much if I fry it since my new hotness is on the way.

I'm using Vista Home Premium 64 bit.
By the looks of the bottom of my laptop it seems it might be mxm compatible as there are lots of removable pieces... including one that looks alot like an mxm slot. I know that this laptop can be configured to come with the 9200m. This is a fairly brand new model but could someone tell me whether this thin is mxm compatible?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIve just about had it with Vista on my laptop and want to try a new OS before I junk this thing. Is anyone running Win7 or Ubuntu on a HP DV5z AMD 64 bit laptop? The machine is about a year old and I have 4gb of RAM and the thing is a dog. Ive used Ubuntu in the past on Dell laptops and its a pain to get everything running wireless drivers, flash, etc. Win7 being a RC may or may not have everything up to speed on for my machine.
So, if you have Win7 or Ubuntu on a HP DV5z please give me a shout, good or bad.

Other than 17 vs 16 inch screen are their any benefits to build quality from 1 to the other?
I will be travelling so I would prefer the lesser HDX 16 incher but build quality is a concern
I travel by plane, train, bus every weekend so it needs to be able to handle a little beating
I'm am deciding whether to buy this laptop for school use. It has a great size, stylish, and decent specs for a laptop that is so lightweight. The only turn off is that it was made for entertainment, but should this laptop do well for word processing, spreadsheets, and web surfing?
Would the 9 cell battery last for more than 5-6 hours? My budget is also under 700$ but it can stretch a little.
i am looking to get the hp hdx 16t and was wondering if there is any bg difference between getting the 2.53 (P9400 i think) or the 2.66 processor? Is it worth the upgrade or no?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm heading off to school, and these stylish, affordable notebooks have caught my eyes. The only problem is that I only get 2-3 hours of battery life on these notebooks although I can buy an extra battery. What I"m mainly doing is word processing, spreadsheets, iTunes, and web browsing but not all at the same time.
Here are my main questions and concerns:
Do these notebooks have good build quality? Is there any other way to charge the battery without having it in the notebook?Do they get hot?
I may have more questions to ask later.
I am buying this notebook in Canada.
Seeing that the battery tests I've seen on some reviews, they are surfing the internet with Wi-Fi on. I will not be, I'll usually be word processing. Should it last maybe 3 hours?
How long does the 9 cell last on the DV3?
I own a DV7-1038CA, I actually decided to buy it after reading what people said about the DV7s on this forum. Unfortunately I have a problem .
I had opened up my DV7 to clean out the fan ( ****load of dust in there) and took the whole laptop apart. I put it back together and it worked perfectly fine for about 10 hours. The laptop worked great until I dropped it down on my table at a height of about 1 1/2 inches, not a significant height but the screen immediately turned white and the laptop shut off completely. It would not turn on at all, the power light would blink for less than a second and turn off and then I'd have to wait 30 seconds before I could get it to blink again.
I then took the laptop apart again and this time I checked if everything was plugged in properly. I decided to leave the unnecessary covers off so I could turn it on without having to screw it all back on, it turned for about 3 seconds....before I noticed the display cable to my screen was on the heat sink and had caught fire. I immediately turned it off but the damage had already been done, the fire had burnt through the wiring on the inside of the cable rendering my screen useless ( whenever it was plugged the charging light on the side of the laptop would turn off). At this point the laptop was turning on but would turn off after about 5 seconds (probably due to the fact that there was no screen) During this little fiasco I had ripped off the ZIF cable that connects the power button board to the Motherboard. So now I had no way to turn my laptop on, I ordered a new screen and a new power button board.......
