View 10 Repliesmy laptop temps are pretty high, i was wondering if vacuuming the outside of the vents would help, or do i have to open up my laptop and vacuum it.
View 5 Replies View Relatedwhat dv7t models came with the vents on the bottom plastic cover.
I have
2X 7200RPM HD's
TV Tuner Card
Intel Pro Wireless w/Bluetooth
4gb OCZ RAM (2x2gb)
And my plastic cover only has a vent over the RAM. The computer is overheating, and I'm wondering if I have the wrong cover.
So a few days ago, my computer just all of a sudden began making a
strange "grinding/crunching" sound which seems to be coming from the top left side of the computer. The sound is very clear especially from the back left corner vent. The noise seems to come and go but still has me very worried. I've read this noise may indicate a dieing hard drive, however tests came by negative and also the hard drive for this notebook is in the middle, not toward the top left. Anyway, I recorded the sound twice and was wondering if you could take a look and tell me what you guys think (you might wanna turn your volume up). I have an HP Dv7t
Ive taken the back cover off my 5920 many times and really never took a look at it until now. What i noticed is that the vents for the ram are covered by a glossy black see through tape rather than mesh, which covers all the other vents.
Ive linked a picture below: add http into brackets
Has anyone else noticed that in their laptop? or is mine the only one where they ran out of mesh and decided tape was just as good. I wanna just rip it off.
Another thing, has anyone been able to overclock their 5920?(mines got a T8100) ive been searching for days and cant find anyone who has. I always have my backcover off and have my laptop resting on a custom dual 120mm fan notebook cooler. My idle temps are from 37-42, load is just over 60. I wanna push this thing just a bit more.
I think its time i gave everything a quick clean.
What is the best method?
Compressed air?
Do you take the back off and clean down the fans etc or does this void the warranty?
In OS X my MacBook is very, very quiet. You can't hear anything at all, at least compared to my Inspiron 6400s. I haven't heard the fan kick in yet while in OS X. Now, in boot camp, there's another story. I almost always hear the fan! What's up with that?! It frightens me knowing that the notebook is working extremely hard while just idling in XP, I'm afraid to play 3D games for too long, even though there's no lagging or fps drops or anything.
So here's the question. I'm certain that too much heat is a bad thing, but where the heck are the vents? On my Dells they're clearly on the back. On the MacBook i see absolutely no exit points for heat. This scares me.
i've been playing far cry 2 for 4 hours. i shut down the game, my temp is 79-80 degrees celcius which is perfectly normal when gaming on the macbook pro. i don't know why i wanted to look through the vents. i turn my laptop and look through. i saw this yellow light. its approximately under the R and F keys on the keyboard. i turn my laptop and look closely on the keyboard and it's illuminated white. no sign of the yellow light. Thus, to resume, i saw it only when looking through the vents. does anybody know what is this light? what is causing it to light up? i smelled closely but no burning smell. in fact, i cant smell any weird odour. is it harmful for my macbook pro?

can some1 gimme a general directionz or a pictorial description of hw to clean the ventz on an inspiron 1525
View 3 Replies View RelatedI rwad a guide and it said all laptops were different so im wondering what this laptop is like. Is t ok to also blow dust etc out and not use compressed air if i cannot get compressed air?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs the fan meant to blow air of the back vent on the bottom of the DV5t?
Air blows out of the side vent but very little air blows out the back vent even when gaming. Im worried the vent is blocked.
Im concerned because the CPU reaches 85c when playing games, which seems a bit high for a CPU in my opinion.
I am getting quite scared about my hp dv5t its getting really hot. The cpu is always at 50-mostly around 65 degrees doing normal work. I keep it on a targus cooler sometimes, but when im on campus I can only use the bare desk. I have undervolted the computer and the gpu is fine always maxing out at around 60 degrees and the harddrive is always at like 40. How do I keep this cpu from getting so high? It makes the computer really hot. Anything like undervolting, or anything free would be a + point.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've been eyeing the dv5t on HP.com but at Costco today I saw the dv6.
Which would you choose and why? Or is the scnreen size the only difference?
if theres a way to make 5.1 with microphone jack re tasking it for center/surround. and How?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've noticed unlike most laptops ( like my old Dell & my GF's Dell ) my Mac Book Pro 15 seems to have no obvious area for the heat to exscape...
I have noticed some heat above the keyboard where the screen hinge is, but dont see any vents...
I was gonna buy a lap top cooler for my GF's laptop & thought about getting self one but wonder if it would really do anything for my MBP15?
i bought an hp dv5t laptop about 7 months ago.my laptop battery has been working fine since then.few days back it has has started to give me problems.sometimes it refuses to charge when ac power is connected e.g it stays on lets say 20% even though its been on AC for a long time.well sometimes it charges normally without any problems.also i have noticed that it charging time has increased a lot from about 25 minutes to 40 min.
is there anyting wrong with the battery or is my ac adapter faulty?how can i improve my battery condition?
I have been trying to get 5.1 sound with my laptop, i have heard people i think with other models that make microphone jack into a center/surround output, and other have said that its possible with hdmi but i have tried with latest drivers of HMDI that i got (1.0.0.42).
View 3 Replies View Relatedso i've got a dv5t. i have the notebook raised up 6 inches in the back while on a desk, and i've also got it undervolted (down to 1.0250V on the 9x actually) and this machine always runs hot. hotter while in games (which makes sense.) but even while just browsing the net, it gets hot.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm considering buying the HP dv5t with the 9200 GPU. I don't really game much. Will I have the same heating issues that I read about on these boards so often? It sounds like they mostly relate to a) intense gaming; b) use of the 9600 card .
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to burn a few CDs for my girlfriend and I am coming across a few problems.
I have tried burning with Zune software, WMP and a free burner called CDBurnerXP.
Sometimes the CDs will burn fine all the way through, and other times after half way it stops and I get error messages. This has happened with all the programs I have listed.
The error is something along the lines of saying to check if the drive is connected properly or possible driver issues. Can someone direct me to the latest driver for the CD drive?
Anyone else encounter any similar problems when trying to burn CDs?
Forgot to mention this is also happening on my girlfriends laptop, which is also a dv5t...
I've gotten my dv5t since august of 08. Early this year, i did a clean install and after that, I have been getting the same bsod when i play GTA IV and some other games. The codes that I were
0x000001, 0x000000000000001, 0x0000000000000000, 0xFFFFFA600005E5180, and 0x0000000000000001
I'm thinking its heat related but this never happened before I did a clean install.
Specs:
T9400
9600M GT
3GB ram
I also undervolted it and have an antec cooler. thanks.
Without undervolting, i reached 91 degrees Celsius for cpu and 86 for gpu. That seems pretty high for me..
Now I recieved this after playing LFS.
anyone who owns a dv5t experience a loose or creaking trim by the 3 status lights?? my first dv5t had this problem and now my new one does too.

this picture is WITH a small undervolt and WITH antec cooling fan
ignore that min, probably a glitch
atm the only real "load" i have running is firefox, digsby (IM client), and itunes. only real cpu usage (through task manager) is firefox. when i exit everything and have nothing running, it use to idle at around 70C but after undervolt i can get it to around 60C
my HP dv5t cpu is just way too hot. I keep pretty good care of my laptop and there is not really dust inside but if I just watch a youtube video my temperatures can easily go up to 65C even with a 1.875 volt to 1.075 undervolt. I have a cooler as well, and the temperatures still are just way too hot. If i play a game like tf2 my cpu easily goes to 75C while the GPU and HDD stay well within acceptable and even cool temperatures. I don't really know why the cpu is so hot compared to everything else. My friend has suggested it might be thermal paste not being applied correctly and I was looking for a second diagnoses. Should i be sending the laptop into HP? And if so what do I call / what do i tell them for the best/fastest service? Should I try to get some Arctic silver and apply thermal paste myself? My friend says he can do it easy enough but he would like a disassembly guide on how to get to the cpu and remove the heatsink.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen i first bought it brand new from best buy right after christmas i could run it all the time and i would notice it would get hot but i never had issues with it until january when it overheated for the first time.
Right after that i went to best buy and bought a USB fan to put underneath it and it seemed to solve the problem. It would be cool to the touch. Until once again... it overheated and kept getting worse and worse.
Now i am to the point where i have to use the fan underneath it, have a small room fan blowing on it, and rob it of performance by turning it to power saver mode which is really frusterating. I also updated the BIOS to make the internal fan run faster which seemed to help a little.
Just a note, i use CoreTemp to monitor the CPU temp with the above setup, it reads 71 degrees Celsius right now.
I just switched it to high performance and it instantly jumped up to 85 degrees and is climbing... now its 88 even with all theese fans on it. I have firefox open, windows live messenger and windows media player running. Now its 92. Im gonna unplug it and turn it to powersaver.. (95 degrees and dropping...)
So my mom is going to buy me the hp dv5t and I have a question about the screen res. If I order the screen with the WXGA 1280x800 can I change the res on the laptop to anything higher to make my icons smaller?
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there something currently wrong with the dv5t that I should know about? I keep hearing some people say there's a bad chip and that's why the 9600m gt isn't offered anymore.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi have the hp dv5t-1000 CTO and here's my problem:
I cant figure out what driver i need to download to fix that. I think it's something to do with my USB ports, but that doesn't make any sense. thanks in advance!
edit: i tried to DL this:
JMicron Card Reader Driver

but it freezes in the installer everytime.
when i connect my DV5T to my PANASONIC and LG tv via HDMI it show nothing, i open nvidia control panel, and no extra display is shown, so i have to unplug/plug the hdmi cord several times before the tv is listed....
