i got my dv7t last august (08)... it spec'd out to about $2300 but i used a 30% off HP coupon code to bring it down to a (more) reasonable $1600 or so...
im just wondering - has anyone seen any of these 30% off coupons lately? i feel like buying another ridiculously decked out laptop for absolutely no reason.
Has anyone "SUCCESSFULLY RECEIVED" HP cashback through Bing for purchases with HP coupon. I've seen in this forum people confirmed they received email from Bing for the HP cashback. I know it will take up to 60 days for releasing the cashback. Has anyone actually received the cashback for purchases with HP coupon.
what the performance difference is between the Intel Core i7-620M and the . Intel Core i7-820QM. I always thought the quad core 820QM was faster, but on the hp website the dual core 620M is more expensive.
Is the 620M faster? And is it faster for specific things only?
The hard drive on HP G62t-350 CTO Notebook was failing. I was able to create a recovery USB in the Recovery Manager. I installed a new 120 GB SSD. The original hard drive was larger, can't remember now but 250 or 500 GB. I know the Recovering the System after the Hard Drive is Replaced (Windows 7) says "To avoid problems, install a hard drive as large or larger than the replaced hard drive," but that's a question for later.  Computer booted fine from USB (in fact, is set to boot from USB if present by default). Recovery Manager starts. I choose minimal install. It goes through the process of partitioning the SSD and copying files. Then says to remove external media and reboot, computer will reboot several times during the process, blah, blah, blah. I pull out the USB and reboot, but after POST I get "No bootable media present".  If I try to reboot leaving the USB in, it boots to USB and we're back at the beginning. I am able to confirm with a rescue disk that the SSD has one NTFS partition that has had Windows files copied to it, and a large amount of unallocated space. (Something like 60%/40%.)
How do I make the hard drive bootable, and if it were bootable, would the recovery process complete? What's going on with the partitions? Is it creating the recovery partition first, and then after boot the recovery partition installs the OS? If so, I might have to abandon this process because since I'm moving to smaller storage, I don't want to devote half of the drive to a recovery partition.
I've been reading the post "The Official Studio XPS 1647 Intel Core i5/i7 "Owners' Lounge" and several users comment this without finally reaching a conclusion if the i7-620M is soldered or not.
Curiously reading this news http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/13/c...nto-tiny-mobo/ the image show a processor in socket.
I have a M6400 (in the precision forum there is less info) and dell warraty support offers me change to M6500, with base arrandale and i7-620M. The arrandale base I suppose, will be with the chipset HM55, but I have doubts if I can update with i7-820QM if this is soldered.
I ordered a VAIO Z series with i7 620M chip thinking that it was a Quad core Intel chip. I discovered this morning that is a Dual Core chip. At first I was bummed and was thinking of calling SonyStyle this morning to see if I could change my order altogether.
After researching a bit more....this chip apparently has performance close to quad core chips, (and in some tests it is faster), with much less drain on the battery life.
As I placed my order I asked about the battery life with the large capacity battery option. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the life expectancy with this configuration is approximately 8 hours! So, I have ordered the laptop of my dreams...a high end performer with great battery life.
I've finally got my MacBook Pro 17" specced with Glossy screen, Core i7-620M and GeForce GT330M fully up and running!
I've been replacing the 5400RPM 500GB hard drive with a Intel X25-M 80GB Gen2, along with replaced the 2x 2GB 1066MHz RAM with a pair of nice Kingston 1600MHz @ CL7 2x 2GB ones.
is the fact that Windows7 computer rating tells me that my RAM is the slowest hardware in my machine? So I was checking it's settings, and the MacBook Pro keeps them at 1066MHz @ CL8?
Which is insane considering the potential of these Kingston memory modules! Is there no way (as there obviously is no BIOS to deal with on Mac hardware) to somehow improve the memory settings?
I'm looking at buying a studio xps 16 and there's a new coupon found here in nbr that gives u a $200 discount along with a $150 gift card. Since i'm a university student here in the us 'm entitled to the EPP program.
Thing is, my uni provided me with the epp code but i don't know how to combine it with the coupon. If any1 knows how i can combine them i'd be very gratefuL
alright folks my friend is trying to buy a inspiron 15 and for some reason i cant apply the 225 dollars off coupon. How do i remove the standard 15 percent off?
here is the link to the coupon http://www.dealcatcher.com/dell-home-coupons
I cant believe this really happened. I said in another post that this would happen knowing my luck and it DID. I was just on it an hour ago and the coupon was working now it said its been used up. Im devastated right now, i dont even think im going to be buying a Dell anymore!
I've got a 1555 spec'd out with a 25% discount coupon code applied($1154 to $865). I was wondering if anyone thought it was worthwhile to call Dell up and try to get them to offer me an even better deal. There's nothing else I really want....I mean, I guess they could up me from a P8600 to a P8700, but that's about it. So I wonder if I could get them down to an even $800. Any thoughts or recommendations? I'm on a very limited budget, so every bit helps...
I've been looking at basicly two models, both got almost the exact same price tag here in Norway, so I'm not sure which one to go for.
The first ones is a MacBook Pro 15" with High-resolution 1650x1080 glossy screen, featuring the top of the line Intel Core i7-620M CPU the other is a MacBook Pro 17" with even higher resolution (1920x1200) glossy screen, featuring the slightly slower Intel Core i5-540M.
I don't list the other specifications as I don't really care about them, I already got a pair of 4GB 1600MHz CL7 (2x2GB) DIM's and a Intel X25-M 80GB SSD that I'll be using anyway.
There will be lots of movies and series played on my MacBook Pro, that's why I don't really considering paying a premium for the anti-glare screen, even though I love anti-glare and tend to struggle with glossy screens I don't see the point in actually paying more for it. And when watching movies and series, in often very dark rooms the glossy screen actually have some advantages.
The hard thing to decide here is slicker and lighter, with smaller screen and lower resolution, but better CPU versus the bigger, more heavy but featuring bigger screen and Full-HD+ resolution but slower CPU.....................
I have got Notebook Compaq Presario.. I cant connect to the internet using the wireless connection.. the reason is that i accidentally did some operations, and cannot switch on the light on the front panel of the notebook.. it does not work, i mean the light of the wireless connection button does not light.... I turned off something...
Does anyone have a good way to OC this laptop other than using ClockGen? I am basically wondering if there is a BIOS option. I know there are some OC guides out there, but this laptop is almost 3 years old, and as far as I can tell does not have an option in the BIOS. Also, my proc is the T2600, not the one is this review, but other than that exactly the same. I am looking to play around with this because it is old and I dont care too much if I fry it since my new hotness is on the way.
By the looks of the bottom of my laptop it seems it might be mxm compatible as there are lots of removable pieces... including one that looks alot like an mxm slot. I know that this laptop can be configured to come with the 9200m. This is a fairly brand new model but could someone tell me whether this thin is mxm compatible?
Ive just about had it with Vista on my laptop and want to try a new OS before I junk this thing. Is anyone running Win7 or Ubuntu on a HP DV5z AMD 64 bit laptop? The machine is about a year old and I have 4gb of RAM and the thing is a dog. Ive used Ubuntu in the past on Dell laptops and its a pain to get everything running wireless drivers, flash, etc. Win7 being a RC may or may not have everything up to speed on for my machine.
So, if you have Win7 or Ubuntu on a HP DV5z please give me a shout, good or bad.
I'm am deciding whether to buy this laptop for school use. It has a great size, stylish, and decent specs for a laptop that is so lightweight. The only turn off is that it was made for entertainment, but should this laptop do well for word processing, spreadsheets, and web surfing?
Would the 9 cell battery last for more than 5-6 hours? My budget is also under 700$ but it can stretch a little.
i am looking to get the hp hdx 16t and was wondering if there is any bg difference between getting the 2.53 (P9400 i think) or the 2.66 processor? Is it worth the upgrade or no?
