Installed the drivers, but after restart all system freezes and I cannot do anything.
I've spent half an hour searching and still haven't found the answer. I'm set to order a Studio XPS 16, but am stuck on the wireless card. There are two Intel 5300 cards listed, a mini and a half-mini.
The half mini says it has "MyWiFi". That's not listed on the mini card

Ok so I have a replacement coming in form my old 1640. When I look at the build, it has the intel wifi 6200. My current system has the Intel 5300 with Wifi Link. What I want to know is if the 6200 is better than the 5300.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo, I have just ordered the M1330, and it comes with the 1505. When I asked the dell rep about the 5300, he said it was not compatible with the M1330 due to the motherboard or something?
However, I've read that some people have made the switch, my questions are as follows:
How hard is it to change wifi cards for a noob?
Will this void my warranty?
What are specific gains?
My brother has an M1330,
the internet some times.
i just got the card today, but my dell xps 1330, has 4 connetors at wwan, how do i install it ?

if the Intel Ultimate-N 5300 Wireless Wifi Link Card will work on my Dell XPS M1530 laptop?
I currently use the Intel 4965A AGN so i have the 3 antennas connected to it, But i can't find any confirmation that the 5300 will work with the M1530. I see that it says it's for the Centrino 2 but i don't know if it's for a certain motherboard or chipset.
Have anyone notice this: The HDX16t will run the fan if the power plug is plugged in and will do so until you hit 100% on your battery meter.
I went into the BIOS to disable "Enable Fan Always On." And yes, when ever my notebook is not connected to power, the fan is OFF. But as soon as I plug in the power chord, back it turns on. While charging, as soon as I pull the chord (even though the battery hasn't met 100%), the fan turns off.
And another question, my HDX16t has this high pitch noise that you can hear. It's sort of like that same issue back with the hold dv6000t models.
How do I disable that, or remove that noise. And no, its not coming from my SSD or my Cd drive.
i ordered an HDX16t for college recently, and I realized I didn't order it with the backlit keyboard I wanted.. yeah i was dumb but college is still a month away so when it arrives, would it be free for me to return it ?? i also used a coupon code NBZ2897 which gives $250 off.. so when the laptop comes the coupon will be expired. does that mean i have to pay that extra? or can i just return it and just pay the extra $50 for the backlit keyboard, whether a backlit keyboard is worth all this trouble are welcome too haha i mean i dont gota look at the keyboard when i type but i still think having 1 would be nice
View 6 Replies View RelatedHow many hard drives can be placed in it at one time?DDR2 or DDR3 RAM?CPU upgrades possible (quad in the future?)
I'm looking into a college notebook that has great specs. I know it seems a little on the big side, but I think I can manage. Usually college students don't take laptops to class all the time, right?
I'm having a problem connecting my video camera to my HDX. The port itself seems to work as I was able to connect my external hard drive to it and it was found.
It's not the camera as I hooked it up to a different PC's firewire port and it was found. Not the cable either.
Other then HDX what else did you consider and why?
Other then the HD screen and 5.1 sound what other features sold you on the HDX? What was unique about this unit that sold you on the HDX?
Did you get Blu-Ray?
I was considering the HDX16t, now looking at the ASUS N50Vn-B1b. It is not a 16" screen and is more of a traditional laptop, however it appears to have superior components for a far better price after today's HP price increases.
I spent a lot of time making my decision, I really hate to change direction at this point, but can't justify the new pricing and supporting HP poor marketing decisions.
is it possible in the XPS M1530,

I will be downloading something then at random times it looses connectivity and i will have to turn off my wifi and turn it back on then it works for a couple minutes and stops working once again.
I just received the HP HDX16T premium series. and downgrade to Windows XP sp3. Suddenly the keyboard stop responding. All keys are not working all at. It was working fine under the manufacture preloaded Windows Vista home. is there ENE CIR windows xp driver.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to enable AHCI on my HDX16t so that I can get the most out of my intel SSD X25-M.
I plan to do a default system restore by using the "Clean Vista install WITH NO ACTIVATION" thread with an original vista CD.
1) how to enable this?
2) Is it enabled by default?
3) And if so, how can I tell?
Buying a new laptop soon... choices are a HDX16t (P8400 and Nvidia 9600M GT 512MB) or a DV6t (T6400 and ATi HD 4650 1GB). I'm just looking to play Everquest 2, and even though it's a 2004 release, it's pretty intensive. So I'm wondering if I should deal with the slower CPU and slightly better GPU or vice versa?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to Windows 7, downloaded the drives off HP website and most everything is working great if not better. I've got 4 items under device manager (3 base system devices and 1 unknown device) that don't have drivers. I'm not sure exactly what those are. Quick launch works except for the base/treble, and ql volume works, but doesn't show up on screen. Other than that I haven't noticed anything else amiss.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI just tried doing this a couple days ago and at first it was working perfectly. About a day later when I came home from work and turned it on, it took about 3 minutes to load and I got all kinds of errors. Aero Glass was disabled, it told me that it couldn't initialize the "Windows Notification Service service", and all other manner of problems existed. I tried doing a system restore to a configuration that was about a day older, and that seemed to work the rest of the night. When I came home again the next day and started it up, the same problems were back.
I'm ready to do another reformat and reinstall, but I'm curious how everyone else is doing this (successfully). The method I used last time was to just let it install drivers for everything it found, then supplement what it couldn't find with drivers off the HP website. Unfortunately there are about 20 different HDX16 configs on there, so I'm not sure if I got the right one. Are the drivers different among them?
the HDX16t. There is a 25% coupon going on right now, and I'm really thinking about pulling the trigger. But I thought I'd ask here, to HP owners, if there is a better choice.
Is the HDv6t a better buy than the HDX? I want roughly a 15.4" screen, but I don't mind a 16". I do want a 1920x1080 resolution, and I am looking for performance with some graphic ability (I am interested in the 1GB video card that HP offers with the HDX16).
Lastly, does the RGBLED screen that the Dell Studio XPS16 make it that much better than the HDX? I've been told that it's a decided advantage to Dell, but I'm not sure how.
HDX16t and I'm having issues deciding between different models.
The difference in the screen resolution would cost me around $100. I would never really use the 1920x1200 for gaming, but it would come in handy while doing homework with multiple windows.
I currently have a DV9500 and a DV5. The DV9500's 1440x900 is excellent for me and I would see no reason to go above that resolution. However, the DV5's 1280x800 is just too small for me (almost even for internet browsing). It just doesn't seem like the 1366x768 would be much different. So for those who have the lower res HDX16t model, would you upgrade to the larger resolution if you had the chance or are you happy with your current setup?
Scored a 3.0 on the WEI with the following scores:
Processor: 5.7
RAM: 5.5
Graphics: 4.8
Gaming Graphics: 4.9
Primary Hard Disk: 3.0
Obviously most of it looks right except the hard disk. I have the 320 GB 5400 RPM HD that came with the HDX16T. Yesterday I installed Windows 7 Beta and I tried to install all of the drivers from the HP website (except I pulled the latest Nvidia drivers straight from their site instead).
I don't recall seeing a driver for the hard disk, but windows seemed to recognize it.
I'm in college right now and one day I lowered my screen as to not to tmpt my roommate into looking at my windows and stuff. I went to take a shower, came back, and my screen was in a viewing position. The only reason i didn't close it was because I have some stuff I'd like to get continuous updates on on my computer. I was wondering if there was a way to basically lock the computer, without really shutting it off or preventing it from doing it's thing as it does normally. I'd like to be able to unlock it with a fingerprint scan. My laptop is an HP HDX16T.
Remember i don't want to put it to sleep or anything, just to lock it to prevent anyone from actually using it, like locks the mouse, the keyboard and stuff.
ordered a HDX 16T when it was on discount for the 850 for 1920x1200 screen, 7450 2.1 ghz process, 4 gig ram, geforce 130M GT card.
Now the I7 dv6t is there with the 230M GT, no backlit keyboard or blueray or HD screen but...
For video gaming will the 230GT be a huge improvement?
What would you guys do? Opinions?
I can get the dv6t with 25% back by 12 midnight
I'm looking to buy an HDX16t. I have to buy refurbished due to funds, but there is a 90 day warranty so I can send it in if there's anything wrong (fingers crossed). However, there's a $50 difference between two models. The differences are 3GB vs 4GB memory, 250GB vs 320GB HDD, and then an interesting "16.0" WXGA High Definition Ultra-wide Flush Glass Display (1366×768)" vs "16" Diagonal High Definition HP Ultra Brightview Infinity Display (1366×768)". These descriptions come from the same website. Would I be correct in saying that HP never offered anything less than the Ultra Brightview Infinity display on their HDX16t models, and that these two monitors are the same?

Not sure whether the highest resolution will be too small for my liking -- if I get the 1920x1080 screen can I decrease the resolution without any problems if it turns out I don't like the highest resolution?
Got this brand new notebook the other day. LOVE IT however I noticed when a web site is loading or a song is just playing and I'm doing nothing the audio will hiss, pop, or hiccup. It's not bad but really annoying and a high end laptop shouldn't be doing this. I have tried reinstalling the IDT drivers, reload windows, disable enhancements. I also stopped the IDT service from loading when windows starts but this still persists. Gonna try just using the vista drivers. My specs are:

This thread will be very exclusive to those who may have an SSD in their HDX16T.
Particularly and Intel SSD X25-M.
Ever since I've got the intel SSD this HDX16t monster is DAMN quiet. And I mean not even whisper quite, its like the notebook is NOT-ON-quite.
That's how dead silent this notebook really is.
The thing/issue is that I began to notice that the monitor makes this constant buzz when it's on. And it only get louder when the brightness goes up.
It's not very loud at all. You'd have to put your ear about 3 inches away in order to hear it. But the fact that it does.
However, I would of never been able to hear the monitor noise with a regular HDD and I'd be totally fine with that. A regular HDD is way to loud now that I've been on SSD for a while.
But the fact that I can hear it makes it weird.
I can almost be sure that if you do not have an SSD, you'd not be able to hear what I am talking about. If you can hear it with a regular HDD, then your monitor must be SUPER loud.
Check back with me to see if you can hear this noise if any of youSSD users on the HDX16T out there.
