if the Intel Ultimate-N 5300 Wireless Wifi Link Card will work on my Dell XPS M1530 laptop?
I currently use the Intel 4965A AGN so i have the 3 antennas connected to it, But i can't find any confirmation that the 5300 will work with the M1530. I see that it says it's for the Centrino 2 but i don't know if it's for a certain motherboard or chipset.

I heard somewhere that it's important whether under the keyboard there are two antennas or three... Anybody knows if that's true or BS?
I want to have range to take from my homes some public maybe far wireless connections... or maybe from outside...

I've spent half an hour searching and still haven't found the answer. I'm set to order a Studio XPS 16, but am stuck on the wireless card. There are two Intel 5300 cards listed, a mini and a half-mini.
The half mini says it has "MyWiFi". That's not listed on the mini card

I just picked up a Latitude E6500 from the outlet, and it only comes with B wireless. People on the forum have mentioned that the E6500 has 3 Mini PCIe slots. One is full length and has 3 antenna connections, one is half length with 2, and one is half length with 1 (for Bluetooth).
I'm planning on upgrading with an Intel 5300 wifi card, it's amazing how cheap they are on eBay. The 5300 comes in two configurations, full and half, but it's a 3x3 antenna, so it'll have to go in my full length slot.
However, most of the listings seem to be for half, and they cost the same. I figure I might as well get the cheaper half length card that also saves .5 ounces of weight if it'll fit in the slot, and the antenna wires will reach. Does anyone know if this would work, or do I need to find one of the full length cards?

So, I have just ordered the M1330, and it comes with the 1505. When I asked the dell rep about the 5300, he said it was not compatible with the M1330 due to the motherboard or something?
However, I've read that some people have made the switch, my questions are as follows:
How hard is it to change wifi cards for a noob?
Will this void my warranty?
What are specific gains?
My brother has an M1330,
the internet some times.

I normally mess around with desktops but this is my first laptop. I am hoping I can put a better wirless card in the damn thing.

I know it has 3 antennas vs the 5100's 2. If you've done it, how did you route the 3rd antenna?

I’ve spent countless hours searching for a stable driver for the GeForce Go 6200.
I’ve managed to install various drivers which run for a while but after a few minutes glitches start to appear in the form of horizontal lines in 3D or colour marks in video mode until I get a black screen for a few seconds, the system recovers and vice versa.
Is this an over-hearing issue? Any ideas for a stable driver

My Dell 1505 wireless N card is a constant headache, If I hide my ssid the card detects and connects to my router but I can never access the internet. It may work sometimes but most of the time my SSID has to be on.
I have tested this with two different routers and the results were the same, vista shows local access only
.
I have tried using drivers from laptopvideo2go and reimaging the computer, I am now fed up and want to get a new wifi car

I have an xps gen2 that currently has an Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG wireless card inside. I've got no major complaints with it, it has always worked well and gets pretty good range but I'm looking to boost the range a bit. I see that the atheros cards get good reviews on the forums. My question is, would getting one of these cards boost my range? Many times the intel card will detect a network with a weak signal, but will not be able to actually connect to it. Can any of you suggest a good wireless card that would be compatible with my pc? Which atheros card should I buy? I just want to make sure its compatible. I recently went out of town and was trying to pick up a signal with the laptop, and I found over 10 networks but the card had trouble connecting with any of them. (most were showing 2 bars for signal strength)For the record I realize distance and obstructions limit the range of any card, but mine seems to lack the power to punch through, but works just fine at home and holds a 100% signal. I am trying to stay with the mini pci express cards that I can put inside the laptop instead of pcmcia cards.

Im about to order a Studio 15, there are 2 options on wireless Cards.
-- Intel WiFi Link 5100 802.11agn Half Mini-Card
-- Dell Wireless 1510 802.11 n half mini-card
The Intel card costs 10 bucks more and im likely going to get it just because of the low cost to upgrade, but just curious if theres a huge difference between the two.

Just upgraded my internet to 50mb and they'll be sending a new router with it -
a Netgear Wireless-N Router Wnb2100.
Will the network card on my m1530 work with this?
In device manager its listed as an Intel pro 3945abg
If not, what card should i get and how easy are they to install (i'd prefer not having to use a dongle as most of the time I'm using all 3 usb ports)?

sorry in advance for what I'm sure is a rookie question...
My father has one of the Dell mini laptops.
He is in the hospital at the moment, and I'm wondering what kind of card/fob etc., if anything, is available to allow him to have wireless access (like 3G) to internet?
The hospital doesn't have any wireless available, nor do there appear to be any 'hotspots' accessable from the hospital, so looking for what I'd need to access a local internet service etc?

Dell offer the Wireless N option so I wondered if the 3rd aerial connection was built in but tucked away if you choose the Wireless G option only so in order to use it I'd have to open the back up to route it into the bay?
I have a 3rd aerial anyway bought from a 3rd party but of course the built in one (if available) would be a better choice for performance .....
